  • Valor7: I could have worded that better, we talked details, options, the pros and cons of each, in  order to arrive at the best ballot language to present to the voters. Hope that makes this clearer.

  • Valor7: Yes and no. We talked details and options until we were blue in the face but I never heardbring it over, it was always the time was not right for the issue to pass. Glad to see the time in now right and I for one shall vote yes on the ballot. I would urge all others to do the sameour county is busting at the seams crimewise and no matter how many bad guys we send off there always seems to someone to replace them. The Sheriff's Office needs the help.

Dallas County detectives have 2 more 'persons of interest' for murder of Khighla Parks Dallas County Sheriff's Department by KY3 News KY3 News 12:54 p.m. CDT, October 10, 2012   BUFFALO, Mo. -- The Dallas County Sheriff's Department is seeking two more "persons of interest" in its investigation of the murder of Khighla Parks, 15, of rural Greene County. Detectives ask the public for help in locating Desiree Siddens, 24, and Larry Warner, 39. The sheriff did not elaborate on why detectives are seeking Siddens or Warner.
If anyone sees Siddens or Warner or is aware of their whereabouts, they can call the Dallas County Sheriff's tips hotline at (417) 345-8207. Anonymous tips are accepted.
Benton County prosecutors on Sunday charged the first "person of interest" for Khighla's murder with abandonment of a corpse. They believe Anthony Balbirnie, 47, of Springfield, dumped Khighla's body in Truman Lake, where it was found by a boater on Sept. 30. If he's convicted, Balbirnie could get a prison sentence between two and seven years, or a fine up to $5,000.

The charge against Balbirnie details his history of crime from 1994 to the present, including forgery, drug possession and illegal use of weapons. Those convictions were in Jackson, Dallas, Greene and Christian counties.
According to a probable cause statement, a woman who described herself as "in an on again-off again intimate relationship" with Balbirnie spoke to Greene County detectives on Saturday and told them she saw Balbirnie wrap, bind and prepare Khighla's body for transport while at her home near Buffalo. The woman said Balbirnie then put Khighla's body in the trunk of a gold Pontiac Grand Am at roughly 2 or 3 a.m. on Sept. 21 and said he was going to Warsaw.
DNA analysis confirmed on Oct. 5 that the body pulled from Truman Lake belonged to Khighla. Her funeral is Friday near her home south of Willard.,0,116492.story
