I, personally, am very concerned over Gitmo closing.... Are we now going to afford them the same rights as Americans?  Are we going to send them through military or civil courts?  What are we going to do with those that "get off" on a technicality, allow them to remain in the US?  I have many concerns.....

I surely don't want them inside this continent.  They should not be allowed to go through the civilian courts.  They are enemies of this country.  The only right they should have is to remain silent.  I have serious concerns about releasing them here.  How will they create havoc for us?  How many of them will create their own cells from which to operate?  Perhaps they should go to Alcatraz and be kept there while awaiting trial and then sent to their own country for repatriation regardless of whether or not their country wants them.  Just drop them off at the border.  They were caught on the battlefield, out of uniform and should be treated as spies if nothing else.  Like one guy said in the comments.  I have a shovel, a gun and a big backyard.  Do the math.

I saw on the news today that one of the terrorist that was released from Gitmo in 2007 is not in Yemen as part of Al Queda.  They think he may have been part of the attack on the American embassy in Yemen.
When I was young, I wanted to be older.  This is not what I expected!

Why don't you want them on American soil?

Afraid the military police, FBI or CIA will arm them while in custody and let them loose to kill Americans?

Don't trust our military?

I trust myself and one or two close personal friends.  That is all.  Terrorists released on our soil is treason.  I certainly don't want to see innocents murdered by these people.  We have enough of it with the gang problems (including illegal Mexicans) along with other criminals.  Releasing them within the confines of our country is an open invitation to terrorism.  Jihad is alive and well world wide.  I prefer they die before they kill another innocent man, woman or child.  As for the FBI in particular, you should be aware that agents are leaving in droves.  Guess they don't want to be cannon fodder.

This is the problem I have about them coming to this country, and either getting lose or being released. These are not criminal. Most Criminals perform their crimes because of their own selfishness, so they don;t want to die, and therefore don't kill a lot of innocent people. These are fanatical extremist, who feel dieing is the best thing that can happen to them as long as they take out as many of their enemy with them as they can.
We live relatively free from the threat of suicide bombs and terrorist attacks because we have tried everything we can to ensure that these extremist do not come here. The middle east and Asia see this daily. It is a part of their life. I don't want this to become a part of American lifestyle. A person that hates this country, feels we are his mortal enemy should never be allowed to set foot on this continent.

Now, as far as holding them any longer, I do believe we need to speed up the process in determining if they are guilty or not, if they are, sentence them and if we don't have enough to hold them then send them home. If nobody wants them, airdrop them into Iran. OK maybe not that, but we do need to do the right thing. We may not agree with what they did, we may consider them enemy's of the state, but even war criminals are allowed due process. I understand this is a different kind of war, but we are the leaders of the world in we need to set the example on Human Rights. We supposedly went after Saddam because how he treated his "enemy's". We need to follow the example we tell everyone to follow.

Personnaly, I think we need to set them all free....Give them a small boat that many Cubans use and tell them they can go wherever they want...during Hurricane season.

Good post, Taz, as usual.

I do not know what you mean by "droves", but the truth about the FBI is not about being cannon fodder. It is about retiring. Obviously there is attrition from some other causes, as there is in any profession, but retirements are the main reason for the hiring blitz you are seeing at FBI.

Figure it out for yourself.  Not retirements only.  There are other reasons.

Does this include domestic terrorists, or just the one's from another country?

Because I'm confused as to which is the problem.

That they are foreigners who blow up truck bombs, or that there are people blowing up truck bombs.

It wasn't too long ago that the record for a terrorist killing Americans on American soil was held by a very white American and his very white partner.

Sen. Bond: Send Gitmo Terrorists to Alcatraz
newsmax.com ^ | January 23, 2009 | Rick Pedraza

Posted on Friday, January 23, 2009 6:33:25 PM by Free ThinkerNY

Sen. Kit Bond, R-Mo., suggests sending detainees of the terrorist detention facility at soon-to-be-closed Guantanamo Bay in Cuba to the former Alcatraz Island prison facility in San Francisco Bay.

Bond, who is vice chair of the Senate Select Intelligence Committee and member of the Subcommittee on Oversight of the Terrorist Surveillance Program, says his state and nearby Leavenworth prison in Kansas want no part in housing terror suspects.

Bond’s apprehension stems from concerns confirmed Thursday when President Barack Obama signed orders to close the “Gitmo” detention center and shut down secret overseas CIA prisons, review military war crimes trials, and ban the harshest interrogation methods of suspected terrorists.

But nobody UNDERSTANDS.  We really need to release all these "innocent" people.

http://www.iht.com/articles/2009/01/23/mideast/detainee.1-414168.php

let's see if I can understand this incredibly phychologically complex phenomenon: "Allah akbar!" type person (who would happily saw your f****** head slowly off and hold it up for the camera) is imprisoned for related (or exact) activity. He spends time with like-minded fellows whilst in prison. He is turned loose. He soon becomes the mother of all recidivists, engaged in planning more photo ops for the camera guys, or, say, a tall building filled with Americans imploding.

My God, I think I get it! Of course, compared to our new President's brain pan, mine is little more than soaked oatmeal, and I'm sure the annointed one can fix this small problem with a wave or two of his hand.
