  • Valor7: I could have worded that better, we talked details, options, the pros and cons of each, in  order to arrive at the best ballot language to present to the voters. Hope that makes this clearer.

  • Valor7: Yes and no. We talked details and options until we were blue in the face but I never heardbring it over, it was always the time was not right for the issue to pass. Glad to see the time in now right and I for one shall vote yes on the ballot. I would urge all others to do the sameour county is busting at the seams crimewise and no matter how many bad guys we send off there always seems to someone to replace them. The Sheriff's Office needs the help.

Albert Haynesworth got paid, Kellen Winslow was traded and Bart Scott followed his mentor.
With signings coming at a furious pace, it was a busy first day of free agency in the NFL as a handful of big-name stars changed uniforms Friday.
The Washington Redskins led the way, signing Haynesworth to a $100 million contract that includes a record $41 million signing bonus. The deal came shortly after Washington re-signed cornerback DeAngelo Hall to a six-year, $54 million deal.
“You’re not going to remember Albert Haynesworth as a bust,” the big defensive tackle said.
In other major moves, Cleveland traded Winslow to Tampa Bay in exchange for draft picks; New York signed Scott to a $48 million, six-year deal, reuniting the linebacker with new Jets coach Rex Ryan; Minnesota acquired quarterback Sage Rosenfels from Houston; and New England signed 33-year-old running back Fred Taylor. Some others stayed put as Tennessee re-signed 36-year-old quarterback Kerry Collins, and New Orleans re-signed linebacker Jonathan Vilma.

And who pays in the long run? WE DO The consumers! Jesus Christ salaries have GOT to stop! This is getting out of control. If I showed up at your door and you needed a water heater replaced and I asked for $500,000.00 up front Id bet Id have a flat nose from the door slamming. Its tuff times and salaries have GOT to stop for playing sports. PERIOD

I couldn't agree more.  Look at Manny Ramirez for the Dodgers.  I guess he can't live off of $25,000,000 for one year.  Let's break this number down.  If he plays every game in the season (162 games) he will make $154320.99 a game.  To make it even worse, if he played every inning of every game, he will make $17146.78.  These numbers are a little high, because you have to take out his bloodsucker I mean agent's fee.  It makes me sick.

During an economic boom, though, the players aren't paid MORE than what they contractually are due.

And while $25 million seems obscene, they are all being paid by a team owner who is making MORE than enough profit to pay these types of salaries (when's the last team that went bankrupt?) and make a massive profit on top.

Don't cry for the owners or hate the players, because they wouldn't make that kind of money if people didn't voluntarily pay to see them, buy their stuff and watch their games.

"There are plenty of good reasons for fighting, but no good reason ever to hate without reservation, to imagine that God almighty Himself hates with you, too. Where's evil? It's that large part of every man that wants to hate without limit, that wants to hate with God on its side." - Kurt Vonnegut

And they haven't asked for a bailout.
I have it on good authority that the Hokey-Pokey really IS what it's all about.
