Glad to see the time in now right and I for one shall vote yes on the ballot. I would urge all others to do the sameour county is busting at the seams crimewise and no matter how many bad guys we send off there always seems to someone to replace them. The Sheriff's Office needs the help.

I would agree that many churches don't get the Sunday traffic Judy's does.

There was a woman killed in Crocker Cave after the bar was shut down. I need to do some more research on it to find the exact dates. I know some one that used to bartend at the Queen of Hearts and I think I might be related(step family) to one of the owners of it. Godfreys Hide-a-way was bought by Judy Dye and is now called Judy's Place. This is a great beer bar espically on Sunday afternoons. I beleive that is all correct but maybe Rick ought to check me out on this since he is twenty years older than me

There was a tavern in the cave when I was a boy. Years later a murder did occur there. A local boy name of Higgins shot a girl in the head. I believe in the 70s, I'll check.

Did he shoot her or beat her to death?
I have it on good authority that the Hokey-Pokey really IS what it's all about.

I remember that boy in school. We thought he wasn't right, but he was never violent. Always pleasant...the best I remember. So it was a shock when this happened.

Judyís place use to be called the Falcon club. There was a murder in there in the early eighties. I think Godfreys Hide-a way is the bar that is next to the post office. I know that was called the hide-a-way. I would have to ask my dad if she ever owned it.  I know she owned the Country Club. The Hide away has had several owners in the past. It hasnít been open years.

Thank you for correcting my blurred memories. I've drank to much Johnnie while listening to my peers tell me stories. Judy used to work at the Hide-a-way tho.

Whatever happened to Shorty?  I think her name was Dorothy Greer.  She is buried in Dunkard (Old Gospel Ridge) Cemetery but I do not recall what year.  Old rumor was that it was an argument over a bottle of Peach Schnapps.

On a slightly different subject, does anyone recall anything about a bar in Devil's Elbow called The Roadhouse?  Would have been early 50's, I think...
I happen to feel that the degree of a person's intelligence is directly reflected by the number of conflicting attitudes she can bring to bear on the same topic.

Victory Pub is a great bar, I got married in it on 01/31/97. I am glad to hear that it is the oldest one around. I hope it stays open forever. I want to take my kids there when they are old enough.

And, if I'm not mistaken.  I saw a sign on Victory Pub the other day that says "Marriages Performed Here."  So they are still in the business of marrying people.  There is an answer to a question on another thread.  People looking for a place to get married go to Victory Pub.
When I was young, I wanted to be older.  This is not what I expected!
