County Government Opinion / Re: Regulations for Dogs in the County

athe dogd owner should be held accountable for the actions of his dog through the courts. What we don't need or want in the county are excessive regulations.

Sure..... Because Mexicans have the sense to work for money instead of gripe that they are poor.
And.... Ok horse "Y" isn't winning races so the owner decides to have him processed for food for export. Gets paid a little scratch for the hell out of just putting a bullet in his head. At least the horse will be used for something.
Millionairs might be selling their horses to these places....but don't you think the average farmer might as well? You know the forest is made up of many trees.
Well said

I don't mean to sound condescending, but you should refrain from abusing the exclamation point and question mark while responding to a clerical job offer. You should also work on structuring your sentences better and using proper grammar.
I apologize for being a grammar nazi this instance. Those that frequent PCW know I generally leave well enough alone when it comes to grammar. I don't find it is necessary to critique an individual's grammar if they are capable of adequately conveying their thoughts. However, in this instance, the bad grammar in question is not "well enough". It is acceptable to throw grammatical rules out the window when you are opining on a social website. Properly placed commas hold little sway over the context of ones opinion. Unfortunately, this isn't an opinion thread. This thread is a job application thread. If you are interested in attaining the position, you should treat it as if you were literally interviewing for the job. If you were in Mr. Hillman's office interviewing for the job, would you tell him that you don't have a computer because "mine are fried?"
If you are willing to fix your errors, I am willing to delete this post. Think of this post as what it is, constructive criticism. I am not pointing out your errors because I am mean. I am pointing them out because I want you to do better in the future. It sounds like you could use the job, but your post makes you sound like you wouldn't be good at it.

"I don't mean to sound condescending"  Bwah ha ha hah hah ha..

I am perfect for this job!! I can only work 20 hrs per week and have done this type of work before but have been out of the workforce due to my injury! I will have to apply! I am borrowing a computer right now mine are fried and cant afford to get another one! dang how can I get my resume made up and sent??? crap!

The same way you are participating on this message board.

Thanks Dave,

This is the right thing to do...

So maybe we could fix the prisoner board budget issue by not feeding the prisoners and fix the vehicle budget issue by having the deputies do foot patrol?  (just kidding)...
Seriously, can we get money from grants or the upcoming stimulus for the large Federal-standards jail and make some money for the jail off of our neighboring counties, the state, and FLW?
Can the judges be encouraged to sentence prisoners to longer sentences than can be served at the Pulaski County jail so prisoners serve sentences in state institutions at state expense (and where there are good rehab programs so there is less chance of recidivism)?  Can more prisoners be put on electronic monitoring and house arrest instead of the Pulaski County Jail to reduce the number of prisoners here and farmed out to oher counies?  Can judges impose more fines and restiution to offset costs?  Can court costs, vehicle release fees, bond fees, etc. be raised?  Can prisoners be assessed high enough room and board fees to cover costs (including staff/other overhead and adding to maintenance and building funds)?  Can prisoners be assessed a booking fee?  Can Pulaski County have a drug court with monetary penalties and restitution to go along with the rehab and community service?  Can Pulaski County assesss a daily/monthly probation fee?  Can Pulaski County get Federal funds for law enforcement because of the presence of FLW and the added law enforcement costs (like the Federal funds that go to the local school systems)?  Can drivers, who force law enforcement to pursue them, be assessed a special fuel fee?  Can those with warrants that are extradited be assessed an extradition fee to cover costs?  Can prisoners raise at least part of their own food (at least veggies and fruit)?

WOW!!! I love your ideas, and I wish they could work here, but my thinking is that most of our crooks are broke, and we would spend more money trying to recover the fees, than we would in the fees themselves. They would have to rob peter to pay paul, which got them in trouble in the first place. Then again maybe not, maybe they will have to stay on probation until all restitution is paid. WHo

Restaurant Opinion / Re: Starbucks

I don't think Price Cutter has anything to do with the Starbucks employees or their training.  I think they are totally under the direct supervision and training of Starbucks.  Haven't been in awhile, I hope if they are doing bad, they pick up their act or they will be out of business.

Normally, I think you would be coorect, but in this case, I am sure there is a licensing agreement with Price Cutter. The employees are Price Cutter employees. That is why they do not get the Medical and Dental benefite that the Corporate Starbucks employees enjoy, to include their part time workers.

Anyone else disappointed in their quality and service lately? I wish Price Cutter would provide those young ladies with some proper training and management. The employees are doing the best they can, I am sure, but they need help. It's not the same since Sally left.

Just curios, what are you comparing prices to? If you consider $27 expensive for a sit down meal for two people, where do you normally go? I am always looking for a good deal, but I never thought a meal for two under $30 was very expensive even for this area.

p.s. I finally figured out what your screen name was. it must be your grandkid asking if Grandma was at work...LOL That's cool

The problem is, you really don't have that option if you're a non smoker around here, unless you stay home, so its not really feasible to vote with your feet. What about people who work in these establishments? Why are they not protected under OSHA and safe work environment regulations? Is the answer for them to be denied the right to earn a living, if they do not agree to be subjected to a hazardous environment? I believe the we can all agree, and defer to the science that has proven that second hand smoke is a hazardous substance? Why not enjoy your cigarette in a more private atmosphere, so everyone can enjoy life a little? Just a little something to consider.

I can't wait till Missouri adopts a smoke free restauraunt policy..It can't come soon enough. I think most people can eat without having to smoke. It will be better for everyone, in my opinion.

There is usually ALWAYS a 100% markup on parts. They pay wholesale, and you pay retail. This is business as usual, and nothing nefarious. This is why it always pays to do your own minor repairs if posible.

I figured I would still have to call Dig Rite, as I know I have a sewer main that runs through my lot. WHo knows what else. Thanks for the replies.

Just a question,
Do they still allow smoking in there? I used to not be able to sit down and eat, because of the cigarette smoke. Unfortunately Cracker Barrel was gettigng the same way, before I left (temporarily). Waffel House..Forget about it! It really limits my choices in Missouri, being sensitive to cigarette smoke. The good news for me is there are a lot of states, moving toward no smoking in bars and restaurants, maybe Missouri is right behind them, I know St. Louis, and St. Louis County have already made the change. Will St. Robert and Waynesville be next? We'll see..

County Government Opinion / County Building Permits

I have a question, and I am not sure what forum to post it. Moderators, if this is in the wrong place, please move it to the appropriate section.
If a resident lives in the county (Hunters Point), do I have to go through the process of getting a builders permit to install a fence around my lot. I know there are city requirements for building permits, I am just unclear about the rules for those of us who live outside the city limits, and in Pulaski County.
If so, which county agency would handle a permit?
Thanks for your time.

Has anyone had any experience with this company out of Rolla? The owner Brian seems like a true professional, and his proposal was very detailed, and easy to read. I am having a fence installed around my very large lot in Hunters Point, and he was one of the contractors we contacted for an estimate.
Thanks for your input.

Did the train de-rail due to a problem with the train, or were the tracks to blame? Will we ever know the cause of the accident?

So,  I understand that Southside Rd is Waynesville P.D., but all the other streets that begin with an "S", are PCSD. Thanks for the reply..

Is the "Hunters Point" area, covered by the PCSD or the Waynesville Police Dept. ?

Because, he knew who his audience was, like any great orator. If you want to convey a message to primitive peoples, you have to communicate it in a way they will understand. We are talking about nomadic, and agrarian societies, not the scientific, or enlightened ones, who would have probably been crucified for sorcery and heresy with such talk.  It does an excellent job of breaking it down "Barney Style" for our superstitious, feeble brains way back then.

Just go in, and avoid the "Laziness Fee". We always pay extra for being lazy, that why we pay for convienence. It costs more money per gallon, at a full service gas station, than it does for self serve. Why wouldn't we expect the same while we wait in our vehicle for someone to bring our restaurant order to our window. Maybe we can have them reach into our pocket and grab our wallet so we don't have to move. Ok, I'll admit the last part was overly dramatic. I understand why people would use this service. A parent with young kids in the car for example, or a disability. We should expect to pay for it though.

To the person who posts a sign like this. Just pray that the person you are shooting at is not tactically superior than you, or you may find yourself in quite a bit of trouble. Untrained, arrogant people with firearms, usually find themselves at a disadvantage when someone who knows how to fire and maneuver closes in on your position. Simply put, don't provoke a battle you are not sure you can win. Not to mention, it really isn't such an easy thing to do, to shoot someone. Even the most highly trained operators encounter difficulties.
Besides, I don't think you can shoot someone for simple trespassing without going to prison. Are there any Law Enforcement Officers, or lawyers out there who can put this to rest?
For the record, I don't mean to be inflammatory here, I truly enjoy a spirited debate on serious subjects, as we all have our opinions.
I would however, like to hear from someone who knows what the LAW really states on shooting people for trespassing.
