I think its about time America woke up and legalize this, Alcohol is legal and causes way more problems. Personally i dont like it, makes me paranoid and retarded, but I love to drink beer. My vise is legal, yet people drive drunk and kill people , Men beat wives, kids, women do stupid  shit as well, but its legal.......the only thing i have ever seen Weed do is make someone sink into the couch and maybe get hungry. Ive never seen a guy high want to beat some ass. Never, nor seen a guy Gal high want to drive. Im sure it happens, but at a really slow pace...lol. I dont understand why it isnt legal

Wouldn't surprise me if it passes. I don't personally use it, but I don't know many people that don't. I would rather be in a room full of people that were high on weed...than drunk on alcohol! There are far more people smoking pot than anyone realizes.

Legalize it and tax it.   Agree with you all about the comparisons to alcohol and peoples behavior.

With as many people that use and sell it, if it were legalized and taxed like cigarettes the government could make a great dent in the deficit. People have been smoking it for a looooong time, and always will so why not let the government make some bank on it?

I can see it now Twinkies and chips on every government workers desk.
LSD, Crack, Heroin and more will be next :poke:
I say Ban Tobacco and alcohol not tax it.
The money that will be lost will make up for it in healthcare cost.
Get rid of it and your healthcare will be cut in half.

Maynard... MJ is no more a "Gateway Drug" than Coke, Pepsi or Coffee.
Healthcare costs WILL be lowered, because the medicinal uses of MJ will eliminate the need for some prescription medications for some people (I'm not naive enough to think that it's the super drug that will cure the worlds ailments).
I know you grew up with the guberment propaganda "Devil Weed" garbage that we all believed for so long.  But, if you take the time to do some research, you'll see the many benefits of MJ and realize that what you've been told most (or all) of your life regarding MJ is garbage...
Don't take my word for it, spend some time researching and reading.  You might be surprised at what you find, I know I was.

Tax it!!!!!!!!!! Empty jail cells and beds from people who have been incarcerated for MJ crimes. Save tax payers money for incarceration of these petty crimes. I would rather see a drunk driver in jail for killing a family then a pothead! JMO

This is how I look at it. God made weed, man made beer, who do you trust?

I knew I would get slammed for that comment. I don't think anyone should have to give up beer or pot if they know how to control it. I just think it makes more sense to legalize something that is natural. It's a way to generate more tax revenue and we need that. And yes it does make some people lazy..that is a fact but in some instances where it is used for medical purposes it takes away pain and allows a person to get out of the bed and function. There is a positive and negative to everything that is considered illegal or legal.

I just think that everyone should look at it from both sides of the argument. I can see why people who are against legalization feel that way just as I think some people can understand why others feel the opposite.

I say legalize it.........

I wonder if "unemployment" will increase due to businesses , who only prior to legalization demanded PRE-employment screenings, possibly implementing frequent testing or mandatory testing  causing either people to voluntarily not seek employment or be fired.

Im really curious if advertising  would change.....possibly seeing..."Use me,  Mr Adder, CPA, for your tax needs this season, Im pot free and will happily prove it to you" or "Cab Company X - all our drivers submit to weekly testing".......( I know, lame examples....)

And Im glad to see on the petitions legalization  for MEDICINAL use for some minors.....yes, there will be fraud...but...  a 15 year old bone cancer patient's pain and quality of life deserves to be addressed just as much as the 36 year old suffering from the same  JMO.

Smoking ganja doesn't make me lazy...Though it makes me less motivated to give a damn about stupid stuff.

Marijuanna is a gateway drug. It is not due to the nature of THC though. Why is it a gateway then? Because it puts people in an illegal environment where there are other drugs to try. The other time in American history where there was this much illegal drug activity was the time period between the 18th amendment and the 21st amendment...
Opinions are like kittens, I was giving them away. I had allot to say!

Not trying to pick a fight, just trying to have honest debate.  Something many folks don't realize is the pot you smoked 54 years ago is completely different than the pot being grown today, especially in the medicinal market.  The THC content of what you smoked many many many moons ago was about 1/3 of the THC content of today (some studies say more some say less).  So you most likely did not see the medicinal value that there is today, but you probably had a lot more headaches than folks smoking today because you were smoking a weed with a little bit of THC instead of a higher concentration of THC that there is available today.

Regarding the "gateway drug" thing... Depends on who you listen to and what research you believe.  Bottom line (for me) is people either have addictive personalities or they don't.  If someone has an addictive personality they will become addicted regardless of whether MJ is legal or not.  Yes, most who do hard core drugs used MJ first, but they also used over the counter medications, stole meds from mom & dad, abused alcohol, cigarettes, etc... Someone who does NOT have an addictive personality can pick up & put down a joint at will.  It's not the DRUG that opens the door to addiction & abuse; it's the person's hard wiring (brain) and whether or not they are susceptible to addiction & abuse.  Same goes for alcoholism & a host of other addiction based diseases we have today.

As for banning alcohol & cigarettes… Sure, it would be nice to ban them right along with internal combustion engines, which pollute our air & indirectly cause cancer & a host of other health problems.  But, that’s not what America is about.  Our guberment should not have the ability to tell you as a citizen what you can or can’t eat, drink, drive, etc.  You have free will and we live in a “free” society.  Besides, we already tried that.  I’m sure you remember how prohibition went over, don’t you?  :th_thbeer1-1:

I agree with most everything you said.
and as far as Prohibition. I had relatives that owned and opperated Speak easy's in Gary Ind. , Chicago and Calumet city ILL. >:D

My opinion? Legalize it.. I couldn't care less either way, I have no use for it myself..
