Title: State Rep Elections - Pulaski Co area
Post by: David Day on July 01, 2012, 01:00:01 PM
Just a reminder for the folks in the Pulaski Co. area. August 7th, Primary Election Day, is the election for your next State Rep. All three House Districts that are included in Pulaski County only have candidates filed on the Republican Ballot, so there will be no General Election in those races…Aug 7th is the final election for those races. Those districts include the 121st (Richland, Crocker, Dixon areas that are now with much of Phelps Co), the 122nd (St. Robert, Waynesville, Ft. Wood, Laquey areas), and the 142nd (Devil’s Elbow area and much of Texas Co and some of Phelps Co). Again, the Primary will be the only race for the next State Rep from these areas.

If you are unsure of what district you are in, at my site, www.StateRepDay.com (http://www.staterepday.com/), there is a link to the new House and Senate Maps.

Just a reminder,

Dave

Well, I hope at some point you do. I am very happy with the way you represented us and kept us informed about what was going on in Jeff City, and if someone can get your endorsement that would mean a lot to me and how I vote.  I have a person in mind who I want to vote for, but your opinion, would be helpful.

Thank you for the kind words, I really do appreciate them.

I am not sure if I will be doing any endorsements or not, it is very unlikely for a couple of reasons.  First, I have many friends running and of them, I think any would do a good job, there are some great candidates out there.  Second, I have always had a problem with an elected official even giving the appearance of trying to "fill their job" when they leave, I think that is something that is best left up to the voters.

Thanks again for the kind words, very nice of you.

Almost all of the candidates in the three districts are on Facebook for folks that use it.

For the 142nd I do know the website for Bordwell, it is www.bordwell2012.com (http://www.bordwell2012.com)  (full disclosure, he is a friend of mine who I have played music with for several years).  I don't know anything about the other candidates in that race or if they have websites.

Just make sure who you vote for will represent your line of income. My industry was ignored.
Title: Re: State Rep Elections - Pulaski Co area
Post by: David Day on July 03, 2012, 08:25:25 AM
It wasn't ignored, just not able to get any traction at all on the issues. Every time I would talk to other lawmakers about some of the issues that have been brought to my attention there would be opposition from others in their districts in the same business.  Add that to just a lack of knowledge of the business and there was almost zero support to making changes to the industry.

Any industry/business that wants self regulation needs to come to an agreement within, then all of them need to start contacting their elected officials to raise awareness to get something done.  There are many in your business that appear to not want changes, want to be left alone, at least that is what they are telling their elected officials. I have only been contacted by two that do, I tried but two isn't much of a mandate in the Capitol. Sorry.

Vickey is a joke.  She got elected, now she doesn't have time to answer questions or concerns from us little folk.

I got a phone call a political survey most of was about Vickey after answering the question both good and bad somethings she did I thought was good but I disgreed with most so I wont be voting for her again. Ike made me mad so I didn't vote for him last time. I hope not to vote any incumbents (except Obama) I may depending who runs against them they all suck none in my opinion are really concerned about us as much as they are thier party.  Both sides have good and bad ideas and instead of voting for what is right they vote party lines. I don't think Obama is doing a bang up job even though things are getting better. i just think Romney would be worst for the middle class.

I gave the vickster a fair shake...  But, I can't stand being ignored.  Especially several times.  It just shows me that she really does NOT care about us back here in MO.

You mean to tell me Dave that other folks in my business opposed the selling if tattoo equipment to the general public, and the state not cracking down on unlicensed tattoo artists? Im positive thats not correct. Ive talked to many of my Competitors and they seem to think the same way I do.

Post by: David Day on July 05, 2012, 10:11:22 AM
I don't know about the equipment part of your question, but yea, overall many it seems (again, I got this through other reps) were concerned that if a bullseye was put on the industry to go after one group, it could mean more regulation for everyone, which does happen often when a chapter of law is open and there are some that love more regs.  That is why other elected officials were concerned about doing anything, that or for the majority, nobody has ever contacted them at all so they are not interested in working on something that they feel is a non-issue in their districts. As I said, with all of the similar businesses in my area, only two have ever visited with me about the issue, for most up there it is none. I tried, had legislation drafted, but couldn't even get a chance of a hearing, so it never was filed. My point is, you were not ignored by me, at least in my opinion. If you think so, then hopefully the next person will do a better job for you.

BTW, cracking down on "unlicensed operators" can already be done, if they are unlicensed, they are already breaking current law.  That is a law enforcement issue, we can pass laws but it is up to the enforcement arm to enforce those laws.  What I had been approached with, was a very detailed plan by one person, an oversight board that would decide licenses and regulations for those in business.  That is what folks in your business had concerns about, others in the same business deciding what regulations they had to live by, they were happier it seems with being left alone.  Let's face it, almost everyone in any business thinks they are doing it the right way and may not like how someone else would regulate how they do things.

If your issue is the unlicensed folks, that is already in law....you have to have a license to legally operate almost any business in MO.

Off to Columbia, have a good one all.

Well I appreciate your efforts . I do. But the powers up there in the office of tattooing ,body piercing and branding.....have told me to quit sending complaints on unlicensed tattooers. After I sent them clear cut cases, one which appeared in this site and rolla net. I copied the advertisements and threatening correspondance from the individuals, copied the facebook adverts that stated "Why pay tattoo shop prices when you can get it half the price?" along with their really poor work pictures off their site. Got the address, Got all the information needed to shut em down....I got a letter saying it was unfounded and not to return any more complaints. these folks are killing us. especially when they can buy the equipment either at the local head shop....or up past rolla where they have a sign advertising tattoo supplies right off the interstate. I cant buy Dental equipment......why can the average joe buy tattoo equipment?? If were regulated to keep the industry safe, and clean, and keep us all operating by the law, why is there nothing bieng done at the state level to ensure the average joe cannot gain such equipment and if they do, why arent they bieng shut down. who do I contact when I find a rogue tattooer, other than our state office.....because nothing has been done about any of the complaints I sent, and plenty more have popped up since. As a matter of fact I found out today a guy who works for EDP on post is trying to aquire equipment to build a home shop. Asking us to sell him chairs and other equipment he needs to operate under the table. Im trying to raise a family and pay bills and I have to compete not only with the 9 shops in the area.....but those doing it at home. But only those of us with a license is regulated. I would really like to see the regulations cover not only Us to keep us honest.....but those that are hindering our business but not bieng licensed. Sorry for my rant. Thanks for listening. B.

I love how theres a birdcage nearby a full trashcan, working off a tv dinner stand....in someones living room. I would lose my license for this. Pure and simple yet nothing will be done about this. the guy in the picture is a rogue tattooer letting his sister tattoo him to see what its like. I sent photos and advertisement to our inspectors to recieve a letter saying I was no longer to send complaints without Proof. this was the kind of proof I sent.. I Am appalled that this is not punishable at some extent. yet I have to pay license fees, be inspected, pay biohazard pick up fees, pay spore test fees, on top of general overhead, and still try to make a living, all the while these folks have nothing but profit??? Do you see where Im coming from??

If they are within the city I would assume they need a city license, that would be a start. Yes, I would also contact law enforcement and ask what they can do. If it is a business that requires a state license to operate and they don't have one, that is against the law. The county Health Dept is another place I would check with, they may have some authority in such situations, not sure about that.
