Honestly, I think the Democrats and Republicans need to unite and quit fighting each other. What ever happened to one nation under God? Whatever happened to America, and working for the people? We're worried about one person.....when Congress has alot of control over what goes on, and the Supreme Court has more power than is right. Every 4 years we vote another person into office, and it just gets worse. They lie or bypass questions...why can't someone just get up there and be honest for once.

It's a shame the cat was killed....especially since its front paws were declawed. Maybe it just thought that was its home (lol) Of course I'd probably freak too if one showed up here. The scratching at the door is unusual though. Would think someone would wonder why....

Interesting.......thanks fish

National Political Opinion / Re: this is why gas prices are high

I'd rather buy our own also......what I'm saying is everyones complaining about the prices, but no one is willing to stop using it. We want more and expect to get it. We blame everyone else but ourselves. We go out and buy our toys (and thank goodness we can), but then wonder why things are getting so high. If you can afford it, that's great......but it's not the ones that can afford it that all this hurts. It hurts the ones that we're just surviving to start with.

We should be using our own resources. But until we can upgrade or fix our refinery's, are we willing to having our gas rationed? If we go into Alaska and start drilling, can we do this and still care for the land there? Or do we go in and just get what we want, and not care if we ruin it? Do you understand what I'm saying? Some of these companies will offer anything to get in there, and also be willing to pay a fine if they go against policy, but by then the damage is done. I'm not a tree hugger, but darn it, big corporations are just in it for the money, and there are generations ahead of us that may never see untouched land. I'm arguing 2 points at once.

National Political Opinion / Re: this is why gas prices are high

It's been like this for years.......the rich get richer, the poor get poorer, and the middle class one ever believed that gas would get higher than a dollar.....the oil companies were making good money then also.
Gas prices get higher because of demand....have you seen the traffic? 10 years ago....20 years ago...traffic was alot less.....families didn't have one vehicle per person, or an extra one for didn't get a vehicle just becuase they turned 16...they used the family vehicle (if they had a job)...SUV's and trucks were used for WORK....not everyone got one because they had more room for the you see one person driving around in them. Who needs a Hummer? Or SUV? You go to a big city and you see them all over the place and one person is in it!!
Why can't kids cruise around on bicycles like they used to? Or walk to a friends house? It's not just the USA either. It seems everyone wants a vehicle (status?) So of course demand goes up. Step outside and look around at yourself and the many vehicles in each driveway? Motorcycles....ATV's? Lawn mowers? How many things do we own that runs off gas? many of you have quit doing the extras, because of the gas prices? Not many I'm sure. And I'm quilty too. You don't think anything about running to the store for a gallon of milk, or a loaf of bread, until it's time to fill up with gas again, and we wonder where it all went.
I agree we need to fix up some refinerys and start using our own product, but can we make them safer? Oil spills seem to happen too often. Do we really need to go into Alaska? Yeah theres alot there we can use, but we're slowly destroying our country as it is.....can't we at least have a place untouched by big corporations raping the land?

They used to skateboard in front of my shop (cracked a couple things also) so my hubby went out there one day with the video camera.......they asked what it was for.......he said if they destroy something he would have the proof to show who did it.......they stopped

Crime Stopper / Re: Skateboarders
« on: May 13, 2008, 12:57:49 AM »
I have a business with a large parking lot. The kids love to skate board there. They have been asked over and over to leave the property. When we posted signs (expensive signs) they just ripped them off the walls ( leaving large holes behind). WHen asked to leave they cuss at you and refuse. When we call the police they tell us since they are minors they really can't help much. We have had to repair railings from misuse, had customers complain about trying not to hit them. Why should we we have to absorb the cost of the repairs and lost business because these ( nice ) kids are bored and have no respect. It's a sure bet if one get hurt on our property that their parents will sue in a hearbeat.

Can you take a video or pics and bring them in to the police station and file a complaint? If anything to show that you complained if they ever do get hurt? You shouldn't be able to get sued if nothing is done after a like that ever stops people from sueing

I used the free military service last month and the guy said you will get it on the 9th. Sure as heck it was in my bank on the 9th. He was able to tell me the day. New brakes are coming my way. Folks remember this is money you will claim as income in 08.

They said in the paperwork they send after you get your check that you didn't have to claim it on your taxes next year............

And I hate being penalized because we don't make 50,000 a year. I wish we did though  lol
