Local News / Re: Special Report to the Pulaski County Commission

Amanda, Sheriff King may not feel comfortable statiing this, but there are four agencies in Pulaski County that still have their own 24/7 dispatchers. Because of my role as a reporter I don't feel comfortable evaluating the pros and cons of the different dispatch options and am just listing them without comment.

Pulaski County 911
Pulaski County Sheriff's Department
St. Robert City Police Department
Dixon City Police Department

Some of the other cities (Waynesville, for example) have an administrative assistant who does dispatching during daytime hours combined with clerical duties and turns the dispatching over to the county 911 center during nights and weekends, but the people holding those daytime-only dispatch positions tend to be very long-term employees whose jobs don't come open often. The four agencies I listed tend to have vacancies open up fairly often. The two most common reasons for leaving are PCSing of military spouses or people jumping to another agency that pays more.

I do not know what type of dispatching the military police may have on Fort Leonard Wood; others would need to answer that. There's also the state patrol dispatch center one county east of us in Rolla. While you mentioned you are going to be living with your in-laws in Waynesville, depending on where you are going to be living long-term, you may want to look into dispatch options in adjoining counties.

Thanks abunch for the info. I have been looking into a lot of different jobs in the area, including the Govt jobs on base. We plan to make that area a permanent move, as soon as we both hang up our uniforms.

You should be able to find an opening with ease in these parts. Do not expect much $$$$ for your service.

Thanks for getting back to me so quick. I will be looking into it today.

I am currently active duty Navy in Sicily, Italy. I have been working and helping run and maintain training of individuals at our 911/Alaram Control Center here on base. I am moving in with my In-laws in the near future at Waynesville, and will be looking for a new start, do you know if there are going to be job openings in regards to the dispatch are you are refering to? I would be really interested.
