Latest Rumor i heard is that the lease staed that if the owner got a better offer then the lessee had 30 days to vacate.  that was by a contractor who had been supposedly working inside the building

I don't think anyone would miss Aussie Jacks except for the people who work there.  I heard today that the person who owns the land that Ryans sits on, did  not want to renew their lease.  Doesn't make sense to me.  They aren't going to get any money with nothing there.
And I also heard there was something to do with a divorce in the Miller's Grill closing.
I haven't heard anything about Pepper's.
Ryans chain had filed bankrupcy from what i heard.

the country was in better shape when W was president. it was also safer. I don't believe any gun bans took effect. he didn't lie about the wars. I don't agree with the patriot act. but nobama has made it worse. the world still respectected the US and our enemies feared us. nobama has done damage to this country, it is not hard to see the evidence. look at detroit. during his 2012 campaign, nobama said he saved it. what is the deficit, unemployment, numbers recieving welfare, foodstamps. the list goes on. W had 52 months of economic growth. the housing bubble was caused by the dems. W wanted to rein in fannie mae , the dems said no. W wasn't perfect, but he was far better than this idiot we have now.
SAFER ????   worst attack on U.S Soil and you call it SAFER?    He did not lie about the wars???   No he just STARTED them!    I can just imagine the crap being posted when Hillary is your supreme leader   ((*(*&

That's ok Hi.  Hope they do come to your door.  I am sure you will usher them right in for and inspection and a complete search of your home.  It is the will of the "king."
No, just extremist pipe dreams.  For some reason you guys cant live in the real world you have to make up stuff to satisfy your delusions....kind of like a " Fauxphobia"

Also you can contact your local lumber yards or home improvement stores ( meeks, Lowes  ect..)  if you have questions about a contractor.  The local contractors use these guys daily so they would be able to give you info.
Lowes for example does install  siding, roofing and and instals carpet and flooring.  They use only licensed and insured contractors who they have do the work.  They might be a little higher priced then
a fly by night contractor but they will back the job and Lowes is not going anywhere.

FYI, Fish and Racer and anybody else that cares, I still have a key to Ron's private office, full access to his computer, and meet with him weekly on past history and the enabling of some other programs for the future. So yes I have a vested interest in how he does during his term of office and I hope he will be able to move the department forward in many ways. He has finished up several key jobs and programs that I had started and these will help the department. Several of the plans he has for the future will also be good. So bottom line I want him to succeed big time.

I hear Crappie are bite'n.....a lot less stressful

Sarah Palin Calls for Invasion of Czech Republic
Apr. 22, 2013 Palin called for the invasion of the Czech Republic today in response to the recent terrorist attacks in Boston.
In an interview with Fox News, the former governor of Alaska said that although federal investigators have yet to complete their work, the time for action is now.
"We don't know everything about these suspects yet," Palin told Fox and Friends this morning, referring to Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, who allegedly carried out the Boston Marathon attacks. "But we know they were Muslims from the Czech Republic.
"I betcha I speak for a lot of Americans when I say I want to go over there right now and start teaching those folks a lesson. And let's not stop at the Czech Republic, let's go after all Arab countries.
"The Arabians need to learn that they can't keep comin' over here and blowing stuff up. Let's set off a couple of nukes in Islamabad, burn down Prague, then bomb the heck out of Tehran. We need to show them that we mean business."Can't See Russia...Although hosts Steve Doocy and Gretchen Carlson applauded Palin's jingoism, they immediately attempted to rectify her multiple geographic errors.
"Well Islamabad is the capital of Pakistan, which isn't Arab," Carlson corrected, "and Tehran is the capital of Iran, which is predominantly Persian. But I do see your point."
"Also Czech Republic isn't really an Arab or even Muslim country, I don't think," Doocy added, "but otherwise what you're saying makes a lot of sense. I think most Americans wish Obama would step up and lead on this one."
Palin, however, didn't take kindly to being corrected and defended her analysis.
"Steve, that's probably one of the most ignorant things I've ever heard. How is Czech Republic not a Muslim country? You saw those brothers, they were Islamic and they were Chechen!"
"Yes there were Muslim and they were ethnic Chechens," Doocy started, "but they grew up mostly in Kyrgyzstan and the United States. And more importantly, Chechens don't come from the Czech Republic, they come from Chechnya, which is part of Russia. "
"What's the difference?" Palin responded. "Isn't Russia part of the Czech Republic?"
"No, the Czech Republic is a separate country. It's part of the European Union and a strong NATO ally," Doocy noted. "But heck, why not? Let's invade. What could go wrong?"
"Yeah and while we're at it," Carlson added, "let's call the Queen of England and see if the U.K. will join us."
In a statement released after the interview, Palin attacked Fox News and its "pro-Islamic" and "pro-geography" bias.
"This is just another case of the politically correct liberal media refusing to tell the truth about radical Islam," she said.

Building a new refinery in America's heart land would be very difficult in today's political environment.
On one side you have the tree hugging environmentalist's.
On the other you have the refineries that are located for export of gasoline and diesel.
Which group has the political power and lobbyist to push their agenda?
The oil is coming from Canada put the refinery in there country

National Political Opinion / Re: that pipeline
« on: April 04, 2013, 03:33:52 AM »
a refinery would be good. the problem is the epa permits and all the red tape makes a new refinery a 10 year project. the pipeline may be faster.

National Political Opinion / Re: that pipeline
« on: April 03, 2013, 02:51:22 AM »
The smart thing to do would be to spend the money on a refinery up north.  Why ship down a tube just to refine it and send it back?  There is no need for a pipeline

Arkansas residents evacuate as Exxon-Mobil tar sands pipeline ruptures
 By David Ferguson
 Saturday, March 30, 2013 12:38 EDT
An Exxon-Mobil oil pipeline ruptured Friday afternoon in the town of Mayflower, Arkansas, forcing the evacuation of 20 homes and shutting down sections of interstate highway. According to Little Rock’s KATV, a hazardous materials team from the Office of Emergency Management has contained the spill and is currently attempting a cleanup. The burst pipe is part of the Pegasus pipeline network, which connects tar sands along the Gulf coast to refineries in Houston. Thousands of gallons of crude oil erupted from the breach around 3:00 p.m. on Friday, spilling through a housing subdivision and into the town’s storm drainage system, fouling drainage ditches and shutting down Highway 365 and Interstate 40.
Residents were evacuated to avoid health hazards from crude oil fumes and to keep stray sparks from igniting the standing oil. Emergency workers contained the spill by hastily constructing earthen dams.
Exxon-Mobil reportedly has a crew investigating the accident. The company released a statement Friday that read, in part, “We are working with emergency responders and local authorities to respond to the incident and are establishing an information line for community support. We regret that this incident has occurred and we apologize for any disruption or inconvenience this has caused.”

N Korea is not the worry.  China is who we have to worry about after we drop a Bunker Buster on Rodmans new BFF.  Its the reaction to our responce is where our concern needs to be

National Political Opinion / Re: Been There

My concern is there has been little to no reaction from the administration regarding this.  The rhetoric is ratcheting way up and that can mean a prelude to war.
Little or no reaction??  Do you think the white house is suppose to have a hotline and let you know its every step concerning this?  If you would watch news other then faux then you might just get informed on whats going on

He hasnt screwed up.  He only scews up on fox news.
aint that the truth!  that and every other fish and Matrsnot post

it wasn't the "R" that cost ike the election. obamacare. he is also up in yrs and frail after his wife's death. He may not have had the stamina for the tasks ahead. I voted for him until he caved.

before a business comes, they will do research for many details. what is the unemployment rate for those counties?

living and dying by the fort is a plan for failure. blame Vicky all you want, but ike would not be the answer either. the people and local developers are the answer. what are their plans?
This is what they will research and see.   and is why no one will want to put anything here
The projected economic impact in the three county region (Laclede, Phelps and Pulaski) would be as follows:

Annual Sales Annual Income Employment Population
-$167.6M -$177.9M -4,818 -9,729
-8% -6.75% -11.21% -7.5%

There would also be a loss of almost 3,700 K12 students in the region.

The study also identifies a loss of 10% of training load and an unknown percent of Other Service members that are not factored into the analysis.

I hate to say it but I warned you of this when ike lost the election. He had a point of taking care of us. Vickie dont give a shit. Plainly stating.
I agree.  She did not care about us then and she dont care about us now.

and there you have it, small thinking. a mall would attract people from Lebanon to rolla.
if the population on base was reduced, the main mission would still remain, training. the basic and ait trainees have money to burn. how many are at the lake when it opens? There is a steady flow of that demographic in all the branches. they are here 5 wks to almost a year. there is actually more for them to do on base than off. bringing in entertainment that they will spend money on will increase jobs.  more payroll in the county, more sales, more sales tax. Manufacturing will bring jobs and much of the paycheck would be spent right here by the people living here. the ones from out of town that commute would still spend money here. developing the area is the best preparation for a world without the fort here. when you put all your eggs in one spot you are set up for failure. the room is here for a mall, light industry, entertainment. the sitting by doing nothing will only make things worse. There are a lot of retired folks here. That is a stable and growing population that can't be ignored either.
And there you have it NO THINKING...  Fish the study covers phelps laclede and pulaski counties.  Companies that want to put a business here look at JOBS in the area that would support them opening up.  You cant have a "build it and they will come " mentality as a business plan, dumb stratagy....We live and die by this military base and while the Majority in Pulaski county knew it and voted for Ike, The rest of you who voted for that R in front of the box sealed our fate.  Vicky just happened to have her name in front of that R and all she is worried about is her farms, she could care less about Pulaski County.  I sent her a link to this thread, lets see if SHE HAS THE BALLS to stop by and tell us her plan.    I aint holding my breath

Fish, a mall, entertainment businesses, would be the last thing we need if post would close or cut back on employees.  There wouldn't be enough people to support them.
So True!  We would not be here if not for the Army. Ike spent his years growing the base and that is what she should continue doing.  Its something worth fighting for and i hope Vicky is beating down ever door trying to do just that!  You just don't pump Millions into a area and then start going backwards.  Every business we have we got because of the base growing.  Just word of this possibly happening is enough to stop what is being developed and that's the last thing we need

I'm taking this as let's headed them off before anything comes of it. In all fairness Hartzler may not even be aware of yet. I'm going to talk to someone at city hall when I get chance.
Her committee asignments are Committee on Armed Services Subcommittee on Tactical Air and Land Forces
 Subcommittee on Military Personnel
 Subcommittee on Readiness

Its her job to know !!

Where is the study? who is doing it? sounds like a sequester scare.
Click the link..its local business , Political leaders and concerned citizens who run the site..I heard it on local radio 2 days ago

Ike caved and voted for nobamacare, that is what cost him the election.

It is the local officials that are responsible for the developement of pc, not the fort or the army. the chamber of commerce used to be pretty good at attracting new business. any news lately? there is developement over bu culvers planned, but what else is in the works?
Why dont you ask Vicky whats in the works, she should be able to tell you if she ever surfaces

So you want your government money. Want someone to blame, blame the board of aldermen/Mayor/city leader. They are the ones who sucked on the teat of the fort for years.
Vicky is to blame.   She took what Ike Skelton built for us in his many years of service and is gonna sit around and do nothing to stop it.   I also blame those who went to the polls
and voted for her based solely on the fact she had a R by her name on the ballot.   What is her stance on this?  why have we not heard from her ?   what is she doing these days?

this isn't the first time the army or the fort reduced manning. won't be the last. what about the impact on the other services here? I was here when the marines and air force left. small number then but a much larger number when they returned.

It is more important for the surrounding areas to become more independent of the fort.
Are you for real !!!!    Independant of the Fort is a death sentance for Pulaski county.    You voted to support the farmer over the base, better get your Tiller out because growing your own is gonna be they most people are going to afford to eat.  Call Vicky and see if she can get ya a deal on a Tractor, your gonna need it
