Restaurant Opinion / Re: Ruby Tuesday
« on: March 31, 2010, 12:55:04 PM »
My son works at Ruby Tuesdays, I just asked him about this.  He says that on to-go orders,(the one where you sit outside the restaurant and they walk your food out) they are not suppose to add any gratuity at all to the ticket!  ONLY on delivery is there an automatic 15% charge added, that is due to the servers having to use their own cars for the delivery.  He told me when he works the To-Go he only makes 3-5 dollars for the whole night in tips...he only makes 3.23 an hour so those to go nights hurt his income.  He said he knows who this person is that is doing this , because she brags about how much she will make in tips when she does To Go.
He also said that he doubts they will do a damn thing about it...so dont hold your breath waiting for someone to actually give a crap.  She apparently is a slacker and lets others do her work quite often, but for some reason has been able to keep her job there for a long time. This is one of the things wrong in America...Lack of an good work ethic!

Business Opinion / Dixon Resale Shop
« on: March 31, 2010, 05:23:30 AM »
Well, I went in there today.  I thought, Oh what a array of items and stuff.  Mostly junk and wholesale/salvage items, but maybe a deal or two in there.  THEN, when we asked the very rude man  if he also purchased items as well, he was rude and tactless in pointing out that he had a No solicitation sign up and couldnt we read!  Well, the sign that stated he was not a Pawn Shop was tacked to a shelf with a million other things around it, and it did not stand out nor was it in a place that it could easily be seen.  Apart from that we were inquiring not for a Pawn Shop but if he did trades etc..it is a junk shop essentially and I asked.  He seemed far  more interested in playing his computer game then his customers or store.  I thought the name itself, Dixon Resale Shop, indicated it was a consignment type establishment...silly me!
With the economy in the dumps and small businesses struggling, I have been trying to spend my money within my community.  But this store will never see me darken its doorstep ever again.  Apart from the fact that it was very poorly lit and freezing cold, I could have dealt with those facts if he would have been even the slightest bit 'less rude' and did not freak out because I asked him a question.
Sad but true I will not recommend this shop to anyone, unless you enjoy being treated like crap. Save your money and go somewhere else!
Mr. Junkshop owner, you lost a potentially good customer, as I shop the junk shops and thrift stores quite often for  most everything. YOUR LOSS!

Business Opinion / Re: Practically Enchanted....Awesome store!
« on: October 12, 2008, 01:56:27 PM »
this thread started out as an advertisement for a business. I really don't care who owns the business. but to use that business to promote a wiccan religion (or vice versa), negative responses should not be unexpected. But many churcshes are doing the same thing on tv. You can say what you want but you are making wicca commerce. just like the tv guys selling tapes and books about christianity. you can invite people to come in and see what goes on,what you sell , and talk. but it is a ploy for acceptance of a non christian religion.
That would not stop me from coming in as there may be something of interest,I don't ask the religious beliefs of every business I go into.

Well...this is blatantly a WRONG statement.  I LEDCHICK started this thread because........I went into the store for the first time and wanted to share the variety of unique items that can be found there as WELL as the fine baked goods that are offered..
To suggest that I started this as an advertisement for the business well.....looks like someone else is looking for another reason to dislike this business without any knowledge whatsoever of the actual subject!!!!

I am very disappointed that the entire community can come together to hate and judge but cannot seem to do the same on more 'important issues'
This is our community and business and commerce are a Good thing....especially in this day and age. Personal religious beliefs should not come into play.....If I quit shopping at business that employed Christians or Baptist would anyone tell me I was wrong???????
I might make you feel.....But I can't make you THINK!  Oh and this is all a ploy! lol

« on: August 31, 2008, 04:27:37 PM »
I just recently got a chance to go into this store....(they have moved from the Square in Waynesville up on Rt. 66 by Wal Mart exit) and I LOVE it.
The prices on their herbs and such were just terrific! The sweets bakery is GREAT!
A great atmosphere and some really unique gift ideas etc.  They have scrapbooking as well !  Candles, magic, herbs, cakes, cookies, teas, soaps, herbal remedies, great incense and a multitude of other interesting things.  Super duper friendly and helpful.  I would like to see them make a go of it!
Had the lemon cake and good god it was good!  She bakes with real butter eggs sugar etc.....
I hope that you guys can go by and at least check it out.

Tell us your favorite Joke / 9 Words Women Use....
« on: June 26, 2008, 12:38:41 PM »
             9 WORDS WOMEN USE

(1) Fine: This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.

(2) Five Minutes: If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.

(3) Nothing: This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing usually end in fine.

(4) Go Ahead: This is a dare, not permission. Don't Do It!

(5) Loud Sigh: This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing. (Refer back to # 3 for the meaning of nothing.)

(6) That's Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements a women can make to a man. That's okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.

(7) Thanks: A woman is thanking you, do not question, or Faint. Just say you're welcome. (I want to add in a clause here - This is true, unless she says 'Thanks a lot' - that is PURE sarcasm and she is not thanking you at all. DO NOT say 'you're welcome' . that will bring on a 'whatever').

(8) Whatever: Is a women's way of saying F**K YOU!

(9) Don't worry about it, I got it: Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking 'What's wrong?' For the woman's response refer to # 3.

It was something to see and usually I am not interested in that sort of thing....it is more of the husbands thing.

Lighter News / Just something NEAT we saw last night....
« on: April 23, 2008, 08:30:49 PM »
Last night we were outside enjoying the sunset.  We were looking up at the contrails etc, then all of a sudden we see a jet ( I guess that what you call it) coming in over a STEALTH bomber!  It was refueling in the air.....it was sooooo cool! Never heard the bomber (of course) and it took a bit before we heard the jet, we watched it for about a minute then it disappeared from site!  It was such a wow look at that moment. Gosh I wish I would have had a good camera it was really neat to see and they were flying pretty low.

Religion Opinion / Re: Is this wrong or is it me?
« on: April 18, 2008, 10:23:58 PM »
I suppose I am a little 'touchy' when it comes to strange people at my door.  A few years back I had a really bad incident with a crazed meth head that came to the door to use the phone and ended up kicking my door in, anyway it was an instance where I was so glad to have a firearm handy. I hid my kids in a closet and although I did not have to shoot him, just aim it to his head and tell him that I was going to defend my family.  He ran off and I freaked out!  The police in that county told me they wouldn't do a thing about it, cause he was so much trouble to them and by the way, we would like to see your firearm....needless to say I have moved out of that county and the man was eventually thrown in prison.  He had a lab going and that is how he was eventually caught.
This was a very scary situation to me, so when there is someone at my door and I did not invite you I get a little 'touchy'.

Religion Opinion / Re: Is this wrong or is it me?
« on: April 18, 2008, 01:22:12 PM »
Well, I do not have a screen door, just a metal and glass door, and the glass is one way glass, so I can see you but you cant see me!  This was such an odd situation and when I told my husband he told me that it is a good thing I did not answer the door.  I live in a pretty rural area of Maries County but have a neighbor across the road.  I have just heard so many stories of home invasions and seems like this week there have been alot of them towards JC/Columbia.....i.e. man is in his front yard doing lawnwork and another approaches him and robs him at knife point.....
It is this type of thing that makes me sooooo 'paranoid'.
I know that this vehicle was a NEW suburban like a champagne color and the man was probably mid 50's.  He was dressed nice....he also sat in his car in my driveway for about 5 minutes after he was at my door.
I do not know where the local Kingdom Hall is located or if they were in the neighborhood then why did he only go to my house, I did not see him stop at my other neighbor house.  Aside from that, I have 2 churches within 1/2 mile of me!

I will call Maries County and report it and see what they think.
Once again guys, thanks for the advice!

Religion Opinion / Is this wrong or is it me?
« on: April 17, 2008, 02:11:24 PM »
last week, as I was finishing up cleaning the bath, I hear my dogs barking.....
Well I look down to hall to the back door and there is a strange man there.
He is just standing there, no knock etc.  THEN he starts trying to get my door open, thank goodness I locked it, cause I cannot hear when I am in other parts of the house. He tries for a few moments to jiggle and push the door open...
I am freaking out at this point that I do not want to open the door up and find out why he is trying to get in my house all I am thinking is CRAP the gun is on the other side of the house. Well he leaves and  I watch him get into a NICE NEW Chevy suburban.  He goes down a shortcut road and does not even go to a neighbors house and try to get in.....
So I go outside and find on top of the dog house some Watchtower magazines etc......well I will tell you what!!!!!!  I do not appreciate someone coming to solicit their personal religious opinion and I really do not appreciate them trying to enter my home with out my permission.  In my neighborhood that is a good way to end up shot!  I have been up in arms over it and will not leave my door unlocked no matter what.... &^&**(
I feel that I am justified in my anger, no one has the right to enter my home without my permission.  legally where do I stand if I would chosen to shoot first and ask questions later.

Pulaski Enquirer / Re: IF YOU WERE A LITTLE GIRL IN THE 70'S......
« on: April 17, 2008, 02:02:11 PM »
the 70's....when you went to Kindergarten for half a day....and you went there to LEARN your abc's and things like that.....now they expect the kids to know everything we learned before they go
I can remember being told I was going to be held back in Kindergarten because I couldn't jump rope with both feet at the same time......needless to say my Grandpa went to school and wanted to know exactly WHY jumping rope was critical to my education....lol  I was moved forward to 1st!  WooHoo to PaPa!

Well, I do not blame her at all.  I myself have went to VS and purchased 2 bras....the total cost over 100.00.  I thought that I was buying quality and that it would be a bra that I would 'get my $$$ worth out of"  WRONG!   Both of the bras that I purchased were un-wearable after about 6 weeks or so of use.   When I spend that kind of money I expect a certain standard of quality......
Now I just buy them on sale at Wal Mart, Target etc.  Then if the ol' girl gives out then I am only out 10 bucks and some time, not 60 bucks and the time it takes to actually pick out a bra at VS.  Wonder Bra my ass!

Where is the smiley with her boobs well supported???

This came with a picture of a red/white/blue condom, however I removed it...wouldn't post with it. lol

Official Announcement:    The federal government today announced that it is changing its emblem from an Eagle to a CONDOM because it more accurately reflects the government's political stance. A condom allows for inflation, halts production, destroys the next generation, protects a bunch of pricks, and gives you a sense of security while you're actually being screwed!

one word vs. the other (cops kid)
I think I am just about ready to just say " Bleep " it.  It should not be so hard to do the right thing.
So if any Iberia police officers are reading this be aware that your community does not trust you enough to even come forward with information regarding a serious crime committed in your town!
I probably stepped over the line there but I am frustrated !!!

Boy this situation is not looking better.  Just called my lawyer and low and behold he is the judge in Iberia!  so I could not talk to him about it....... I am suppose to call the prosecutor but they dont have one just a city attorney.
The police in Iberia apparently REALLY want to know who did $50,000 in damages with the spray painting spree that went on  and the $500 reward that they have dangled out there, but my daughters well being is worth more than $500!
At my wits end!  So what to do what to do .....do the right thing and hell with the drug dealers or be apathetic and do nothing......This shouldn't be this HARD!!!!

kbohon thanks for the post.  I hate to go into too much detail about all this, however one of the 'suspects' is the child of a police officer  (not an Iberia police officer) and everyone involved in this is either related or know each other very well.  The suspects are minors as well, but are also using meth on a regular basis.  I asked how the officer (dad) does not see the signs of meth use in their child and was told that he chooses not to.  This is one sticky situation and I hate that I am even involved at this level.  I have had a methhead kick my door in a threaten me and my family and I had to put a gun to his head to stabilize the situation until I could get some police to my home.  I know what these people are capable of and it scares the hell out of me.  I have mulled all this over for a week now and I still have not found a way to resolve this.
It is such a sad day when you are afraid to go to the police to try to help and are afraid.

Crime Stopper / Recent Crimes in Iberia
« on: March 13, 2008, 03:17:06 PM »
I have a question about the vandalism that occurred in Iberia about 2 weeks ago.
My daughter has information regarding who commited this crime. She is afraid to come forward because, her friend that also knows, did come forward and wrote a statement to the Iberia police regarding his knowledge of the crime. Now the police took this information and went to the person in question and told them that her friend had written a statement about them.  This guy is just a kid and now I fear for his life because these people are involved in meth as well.  I want my daughter to do the right thing however I will not allow her to be place in danger!  Help me find a solution.  I know this is not involving Pulaski County but surely someone can help.

Tell us your favorite Joke / IRS Questions
« on: March 11, 2008, 03:39:43 PM »
OK this is my last post today...

At the end of the tax year the IRS office sent an inspector to audit the books of a Synagogue. While he was checking the books he turned to the Rabbi and said, 'I notice you buy a lot of candles. What do you do with the candle drippings?'

'Good question,' noted the Rabbi. 'We save them up and send them back to the candle makers, and every now and then they send us a free box of candles.'

'Oh,' replied the auditor, somewhat disappointed that his unusual question had a practical answer. But on he went, in his obnoxious way: 'What about all these bread wafer
purchases? What do you do with the crumbs?'

'Ah, yes,' replied the Rabbi, realizing that the inspector was trying to trap him with an unanswerable question. 'We collect them and send them back to the manufacturer, and every now and then they send us a free box of bread-wafers.'

'I see,' replied the auditor, thinking hard about how he could fluster the know-it-all Rabbi. 'Well, Rabbi,' he went on, 'what do you do with all the leftover foreskins from the
circumcisions you perform?'
'Here, too, we do not waste,' answered the Rabbi. 'What we do is save all the foreskins and send them to the tax office, and about once a year they send us a complete
dick.'

National Political Opinion / Robin William's Plan for Peace
« on: March 11, 2008, 03:31:05 PM »

The Plan!
You gotta love Robin Williams...
Even if he's nuts!  Leave it to Robin Williams to come up with the perfect plan.  What we need now is for our UN Ambassador to stand up and repeat this message.

Robin Williams' plan...(Hard to argue with this logic!)

"I see a lot of people yelling for peace but I have not heard of a plan for peace.  So, here's one plan."

1) "The US will apologize to the world for our "interference" in their affairs, past &present.  You know, Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Tojo, Noriega, Milosevic, Hussein, and the rest of those "good ole boys", we will never "interfere" again.

2) We will withdraw our troops from all over the world, starting with Germany , South Korea , the Middle East, and the Philippines .  They don't want us there.  We would station troops at our borders.  No one allowed sneaking through holes in the fence.
3) All illegal aliens have 90 days to get their affairs together and leave. We'll give them a free trip home.  After 90 days the remainder will be gathered up and deported immediately, regardless of whom or where they are.  They're illegal!!!  France will welcome them.
4) All future visitors will be thoroughly checked and limited to 90 days unless given a special permit!!!!  No one from a terrorist nation will be allowed in.  If you don't like it there, change it yourself and don't hide here.   Asylum would never be available to anyone.  We don't need any more cab drivers or 7-11 cashiers.

5) No foreign "students" over age 21.  The older ones are the bombers.  If they don't attend classes, they get a "D" and it's back home baby.

6) The US will make a strong effort to become self-sufficient energy wise.  This will include developing nonpolluting sources of energy but will require a temporary drilling of oil in the Alaskan wilderness.  The caribou will have to cope for a while

7) Offer Saudi Arabia and other oil producing countries $10 a barrel for their oil.  If they don't like it, we go someplace else.  They can go somewhere else to sell their production.  (About a week of the wells filling up the storage sites would be enough.)

8) If there is a famine or other natural catastrophe in the world, we will not "interfere."  They can pray to Allah or whomever, for seeds, rain, cement or whatever they need.  Besides most of what we give them is stolen or given to the army.  The people who need it most get very little, if anything.

9) Ship the UN Headquarters to an isolated island someplace.  We don't need the spies and fair weather friends here. Besides, the building would make a good homeless shelter or lockup for illegal aliens.

10) All Americans must go to charm and beauty school.  That way, no one can call us "Ugly Americans" any longer.  The Language we speak is ENGLISH...learn it...or LEAVE...Now, isn't that a winner of a plan?

"The Statue of Liberty is no longer saying "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses."  She's got a baseball bat and she's yelling, 'you want a piece of me?' "
