City Government Opinion / Re: Dixon city council meeting
« on: September 20, 2011, 05:53:21 PM »
Ok, So I am a friend of the "cleanup dixon" Facebook page. The gist of the page is a group of people who want to clean up the town and put it back to the "hometown" place it once was.  As far as I know, there wasn't any slandering done on the page. People voiced their opinions, YES but thank GOD we live in a country where this is allowed.

I was not at that meeting, however Marlene had said that she wasn't able to get 2 words out without interruptions. It was as if the council members (or select members) had came into that meeting on the defense because of things said on that Facebook page.

I don't see what the big deal is on WHO started the page. Does it really matter who started it, when what really matters is that a community is coming together to try and rid itself of the filth and trash that has plagued it? I don't think there is anything wrong with that, and though I may not agree with everything that is written I do respect my fellow Americans' rights to free speech.

I think the entire situation was approached the wrong way, perhaps by both sides. Why cant the council members have an open mind about the topics brought up on that page?

Restaurant Opinion / Re: River Rock Grill

Either Im just really picky or I had a bad experience. We went there the day after it opened to try it out, It is beautiful inside, a big step up from the old point, but the food was horrible!

I had some kind of garlic and butter pasta with shrimp and the pasta came out and tasted like water. No flavor, even after I added salt, and when I moved my pasta around on the plate the whole bottom was full of water, the shrimp was hard and had no flavor either.

A friend of mine had the baked moscacholi (forgive my spelling) and it too was flavorless and floating in water. I didnt even eat my food, neither did my friend, our husabands finished their food even though they both said the food was flavorless.

Now, Im not one to complain so I didnt, I just filled up on soda. My friend however did complain and nothing was done about it, not even an apology, she barely ate two bites and we still had to pay.

My husband and I spent $50 on our food and they spend $40, so all together $90 for 4 people when 2 people didnt even eat their food.

Like I said, this is just my experience but I wont be going back.

Pulaski County Sheriff Press Releases / Re: PCSD- Meth Case Arrest
« on: May 09, 2011, 01:45:41 PM »
You know, I was wondering this myself. I saw this in the Dixon pilot last wednesday and thought "Good, they finally have him in jail!" But Ive also thought that time and time again and a couple days later see that same person tweaking out at Casey's!

Ricky Fenton & Larry Rector are two of the names in town that EVERYONE knows to be thieves and drug addicts and yet everytime they are arrested, they're released yet again. I cant imagine any excuse good enough for this. Whether it be overcrowding or the use of these people as informants. I KNOW there's enough evidence to lock these two up. The latter of the two inside of a meth lab when it exploded for goodness sakes!

When is enough enough?

Local News / Re: New Proposed Law
« on: April 16, 2010, 02:07:26 PM »
I would gladly pay my share or extra taxes for  larger/more jails, more officers, whatever was needed. It sucks to be nickle and dimed to death but If I'll pay the extra $.20 for a large drink, why not more to ensure that criminals must pay for the crimes they commit!

And I would even give up my Starbucks habit..Which was even hard to type out.

Problem is there are budget cuts EVERYWHERE. People keep talking about how they need more money for this or that, but funds are being cut from the most important parts of our society, things like education and obviously law enforcement.

I don't blame Obama like so many, this country has been on a decline for a long while...

I have to agree with JB on this one. My car was stolen, and I want the $%*%# who did it in Jail, not picking up trash next to the highway.

It is hard to put yourself in someone else's shoes in this situation but people who commit these types of crimes usually aren't law abiding citizens all there lives and one day slip and fall and end up with a tampering with a motor vehicle charge. These people are the nasty disgusting scum of our county that need to be locked up.

I agree with whoever said we should take the television sets, computers, etc out of Jails. It's sad that prisoners live better than me in some instances. We wouldn't need so much money if prisons were reduced to concrete walls, metal bars, and not much else.

Crime Stopper / Re: Thieves

You know, i was just reading this thread yesterday and shaking my head at the stupidity of some people that feel they need to steal from others over something so trivial as battery chargers, and the whatnot.

Sunday night I had my CAR stolen! Right out of my driveway. It just disgusts me, so the point that I want to vomit! My husband and I work hard for the things we have, and some crackhead decided that they wanted a free ride and stole my husbands car from right out in front of our house.

NOT ONLY THAT, but we have just gotten a TV from a family member for our daughter and it was still sitting in the car. It's sad that a thief could see the baby car seat in the back and still take the car with no second thought. I wish I could get my hands on them.

What happened to the days when people worked for what they had? YES there has always been theft, but this is ridiculous! I have lost faith in the entire human race now...:(

We'll never get that car back, It's probably crossing the mexican border now, never to be seen again.

Keep your eyes out guys!

So...after all this stuff has happened the store i live next door to was broken into.
And when I say next door i mean we share a driveway. lol.
Her window was busted open and lots of expensive liquor and cigarettes were stolen.

Sorry, Didn't think the topic would get out of control like that...

So out of curiosity....
If I woke up to find someone stealing things out of our yard, and my husband shot them....what exactly would happen?

It seems absolutely useless to call the cops. We haven't seen the person so I couldn't tell anyone what they looked like..It would have to be come random cop driving by to catch him/her.
I don't know. I feel like I am in a Lose Lose situation.

I live outside of the city limits in Dixon. Within the past week, my neighbors have had their pool pump stolen right out from their back yard. The girl who lives right next door to me came home to a man in her carport rifling though their things, and my husband has about three old derby cars in the back yard, and we found out yesterday that they, along with our lawn mower, had been drained of all of their gas.
It's not so much that the people were stealing from us, it is that there are strange people in our yard. Who is to say that one day they won't come in our house?
My husband wanted me to post on here about this. We just don't know what else to do!
It's almost to the point where we want to sit on our front porch with a rifle and wait for the people to sneak up so he can just shoot them in the ass!!
We're about fed up and don't know what to do anymore.

I haven't been there in a while, so I dont know if it's still open or what, but there was was really good. I would recommend the Teddy rolls or the Mizeki rolls, both are yummy. The service was good but like i said its been quite a while since I've stopped in there. Hubby isn't much for Sushi. :)

I actually enjoy Dennys. Perhaps its because I go on Thursday mornings? My husband and I go every other thursday morning on the way to pick up his check at the distribution center.
We always have such nice waitresses (usually its the same one). We never stand around waiting for a table. She brings out crackers and spoons for my 9month old, and our drinks are usually out within a reasonable amount of time..
May I suggest a "Moons over my hammy" :) :) It's delicious with the country potatoes, Im not much of a hashbrown girl myself.
Anyway, There's my two cents.

I'm pretty sure the website is http://www.windstream.com

I have something called "greenstreak". We don't have a home phone (whats the point with two cell phones?) So it's just the DSL internet without the phone line charges.

Can you guys get windsteam out there? I have it in Dixon, and I pay 36.95 per month, just for high speed internet. But you can get the bundle with them, and I think they are affiliated with Dish Network too..
