Local News / funeral payments
« on: April 30, 2014, 06:01:21 AM »
I am not sure who to talk to about this. My father was active duty when he died March 15, 1976 in the army. Anyhow I was also told that when my mom passed away that the military would pay for half of her funeral and that is what my mom said they told her. Well my mom just passed away april 26 and my brother called someone over at ft wood and told him they dont pay anything on the spouses, but if that is true why did they always tell my mom they would? Does anyone on here know if any of what they told my mom for years is the truth or did they lie to her all these years? What was the purpose of all the years my dad served to make sure my mom was taken care of to only be lied too. If anyone has any info please fill me in. As I said my dad was active duty not retired.

Local News / Break in at the Pulaski County Western Shed
« on: September 10, 2013, 03:08:29 AM »
Approximately $6,000 worth of property items were stolen from the western district shed in the last week, according to Pulaski County commissioners.

Western Commissioner Rick Zweerink said that the thief or thieves stole four truck tires, worth approximately $2,000, and a hydraulic broom that was worth around $4,000.

The hydraulic broom was intended for the east district, but the chaos of the flood forced county officials to store it in the western district shed, located in the Swedeburg area.

Pulaski County Clerk Brent Basset said that the shed has been robbed once before. After the incident, the county purchased a security camera.

Zweerink said that it looked like from the security tapes that the thief knew the camera was there.

“He crawled up the conduit pipe on the side and turned the camera straight to the ground,” he said. “He knew the camera situation perfectly.”

Zweerink said commissioners are working to get an image from camera tapes.

The incident occurred on Thursday, Aug. 29 at around 11 p.m. Commissioners request the public keep an eye out if they are around the shed and to call the police if anyone is around it late at night.

My question is if a man who is 18 and some of his friends all decide they want to go to Florida during spring break and the guys want to take some of their girlfriends with them and lets say they are 16, can they get into trouble for taking them across state line? 1 of the girls her parents are getting a divorce and her mom says she doesn't mind if her daughter goes, Do they still need the dads permission to go or is it legal if only the mom says it is ok? or is it best they leave the girlfriends behind? Don't want to see anyone go to jail for taking anyone across state line.

Sneak Peek Sheriff's View / Possible Child Sodmy
« on: August 21, 2012, 11:53:34 AM »
If someone goes and files a charge against someone for them doing something to their child as in touching them in areas that should not be touched, why would they not get arrested? Example lets say a 5 year old little girl told you that someone touched her and described it to you completely so you get the law involved and they investigate and you file the report and they go talk to the person who they said done it and the the ones who investigated said they weren't going to arrest him cause " They have health problems" worried about them having a spell while in jail. I don't care if this person isn't on their death bed shouldn't they be locked up after they got the call on this? Just because someone has COPD and takes sleeping pills, is it ok that they are able to be left out on the streets to hurt someone Else's child instead of being arrested and punished for what they have done? Yes I would like to know the answer to this cause it is going on right now and I feel as if this isn't being taken care of like it should be.  :anger: :anger: :th_tha3ab577b-1: :th_tha3ab577b-1:

Pulaski Enquirer / cop searching people
« on: July 02, 2011, 11:29:58 PM »
my question is does an officer have a right to pat down a minor without parents being around? i am only asking is because im getting sick of when my son goes to richland they pull him over just to check for licenses or something and as soon as they call in his name they always call in another cop and say they have to search him for a weapon. i have just about had it! they have never found anything in the truck or on him and if they do it again they had better have a reason to come up with to me because im going to be up at there office. if they have a good reason for stopping him that is fine but not be stopped because they want to find something on him. so do thay have a right to do a pat down on my kid without me being there and only doing it because of our lastname?

Tell us your favorite Joke / Woman's Poem
« on: April 30, 2009, 03:33:11 PM »

He didn't like the casserole
And he didn't like my cake.

He said my biscuits were too hard,
Not like his mother used to make.

I didn't perk the coffee right.

He didn't like the stew.

I didn't mend his socks the way
his mother used to do.

I pondered for an answer
I was looking for a clue.

Then I turned around & smacked
the shit out of him...

Like his mother used to do.

Tell us your favorite Joke / Will I live to see 80?
« on: April 24, 2009, 12:47:40 PM »
I  recently picked a new primary care doctor. After two visits and exhaustive Lab  tests, he said I was doing 'fairly well' for my age.
A little concerned  about that comment, I couldn't resist asking him, 'Do you think I'll live to be  80?' He asked, 'Do you smoke tobacco, or drink beer or wine?'
'Oh no,' I  replied.. 'I'm not doing drugs, either!'
Then he asked, 'Do you eat rib-eye  steaks and barbecued ribs?
'I said, 'Not much... my former doctor said that  all red meat is very unhealthy!'
'Do you spend a lot of time in the sun,  like playing golf, sailing, hiking, or bicycling?'
'No, I don't,' I said.
He asked, 'Do you gamble, drive fast cars, or have a lot of sex?'
'No,not really ' I said.
He  looked at me and said,... 'Then, why do you even give a shit?

Tell us your favorite Joke / Amazingly Simple Home Remedies
« on: December 05, 2008, 04:29:55 PM »
    AMAZINGLY SIMPLE HOME REMEDIES

Avoid cutting yourself when slicing vegetables by getting someone else to hold the vegetables while you chop.

Avoid arguments with the females about lifting the toilet seat by using the sink.

For high blood pressure sufferers ~ simply cut yourself and bleed for a few minutes, thus reducing the pressure on your veins. Remember to use a timer.

A mouse trap placed on top of your alarm clock will prevent you from rolling over and going back to sleep after you hit the snooze button.

If you have a bad cough, take a large dose of laxatives. You'll be afraid to cough.

You only need two tools in life - wd-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the wd-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

Daily thought: some people are like slinkies - not really good for anything but they bring a smile to your face when pushed down the stairs!!!!!

Local News / Look Out !!!!!!!!!!
« on: July 24, 2008, 03:31:55 PM »
My husband just called me and let me know to make sure I lock up our 4 wheelers and Dirtbike because someone along Hwy 133 going to Richland from Swedeborg had there 4 wheeler stolen during the daylight hours yesterday (like 8am to 11am). He said they even had to move the peoples boat in order to get to the 4 wheeler. What is wrong with all these freaken people doing this crap? Takes alot of balls for someone to steal something right out of someones yard next to the main road.

Tell us your favorite Joke / Roses
« on: May 23, 2008, 03:03:46 PM »
A teenage granddaughter comes downstairs for her date with this see-through blouse on and no bra. Her grandmother just pitched a fit, telling her not to dare go out like that! The teenager tells her 'Loosen up Grams. These are modern times. You gotta let your rose buds show!' and out she goes.

The next day the teenager comes down stairs, and the grandmother is sitting there with no top on. The teenager wants to die. She explains to her grandmother
that she has friends coming over and that it is just not appropriate....

The grandmother says, 'Loosen up, Sweetie. If you can show off your rose buds, then I can display my hanging baskets.

Happy Gardening.

You tend to be shy, but are reliable and trustworthy friend. You have an aesthetic bent of mind. You select your partner with care and you love with all your heart, and not in for just a fling. You avoid conflict at all costs.

You ooze with charm when you are with your partner. You have an enthusiasm for life, unmatched by most.

BANANA -
You are a softy! Loving, gentle, warm and sympathetic by nature is the banana lover. You often lack in self-confidence and are quite timid by nature. Because of the way you are, your relationship is always very much in harmony!

COCONUT -
The coconut lover is a serious, very thoughtful and contemplative person. Though you enjoy socializing, you are particular about the company you keep. You tend to be stubborn but not necessarily foolhardy. Shrewd, quick-witted and alert, you ensure that you are right on top of any given scenario, especially at work. You need a partner with brains, and while passion is important it certainly isn't everything for you.

PINEAPPLE -

Your sense of humor is what attracts members of the opposite sex to you more than anything else. It is simply charming!

MANGO -
A mango lover is a personality to reckoned with; quite often, you are a person who has quite fixed ideas, and influencing you is not an easy task. You tend to be an extremist with strong likes and dislikes, and at times even like to control a situation... You enjoy getting involved in something that presents mental challenge. Strong as you may be, you are like a kitten when you are with your partner. You accommodate the love of your life, and make up for all the strong will elsewhere!

CHERRY -
If cherry is your favorite fruit, life isn't always as sweet for you. You often face ups and downs, particularly professionally, and find that you make small sums of $$$, instead of a lump sum. You have a fertile imagination and are often involved in creative pursuits. You are a very sincere and loyal partner, but find that expressing your feelings is not very easy. Your home is your haven, and you love nothing more than being surrounded by close family and your beloved partner.

Your partner must share your zeal and zing for life to enjoy all you have to offer!

PEACH -
Like a peach, you enjoy the juice of life and all its lush ripeness! You are the friendly sort, and are quite frank and outspoken, which adds to your charm. You are quick to forgive and forget; and value your friendships highly. You have an independent and ambitious streak in you that make you a real go-getter. You are the ideal lover, fiery and passionate but sincere and faithful in love. You don't, however, like to display all that passion in public.

CUSTARD APPLE -
You are a modest and conservative person who can be quite sensitive at times. You tend to be thoughtful and contemplative, and therefore are rarely rash in doing things. You are quite ambitious and are good at anything that requires much detailing or working with numbers. You are quick at finding fault with others. While looking for a partner, you value a person's intellect far above their looks or good old passion. You are quite shy and not very comfortable demonstrating affection.

PEAR -
If you put your mind to something you can do it successfully, but by and large you tend to be fickle and have trouble completing a task with the enthusiasm you started it with. You need to know the results of your efforts almost immediately. You enjoy mental stimulation and love to get into a good discussion! You tend to be a restless and high-strung person, and are easily excited. Being happy doesn't mean everything's perfect! It means you've decided to see beyond the imperfections!
