Business Opinion / Dixon Resale Shop
« on: March 31, 2010, 05:23:30 AM »
Well, I went in there today.  I thought, Oh what a array of items and stuff.  Mostly junk and wholesale/salvage items, but maybe a deal or two in there.  THEN, when we asked the very rude man  if he also purchased items as well, he was rude and tactless in pointing out that he had a No solicitation sign up and couldnt we read!  Well, the sign that stated he was not a Pawn Shop was tacked to a shelf with a million other things around it, and it did not stand out nor was it in a place that it could easily be seen.  Apart from that we were inquiring not for a Pawn Shop but if he did trades etc..it is a junk shop essentially and I asked.  He seemed far  more interested in playing his computer game then his customers or store.  I thought the name itself, Dixon Resale Shop, indicated it was a consignment type establishment...silly me!
With the economy in the dumps and small businesses struggling, I have been trying to spend my money within my community.  But this store will never see me darken its doorstep ever again.  Apart from the fact that it was very poorly lit and freezing cold, I could have dealt with those facts if he would have been even the slightest bit 'less rude' and did not freak out because I asked him a question.
Sad but true I will not recommend this shop to anyone, unless you enjoy being treated like crap. Save your money and go somewhere else!
Mr. Junkshop owner, you lost a potentially good customer, as I shop the junk shops and thrift stores quite often for  most everything. YOUR LOSS!

The prices on their herbs and such were just terrific! The sweets bakery is GREAT!
A great atmosphere and some really unique gift ideas etc.  They have scrapbooking as well !  Candles, magic, herbs, cakes, cookies, teas, soaps, herbal remedies, great incense and a multitude of other interesting things.  Super duper friendly and helpful.  I would like to see them make a go of it!
Had the lemon cake and good god it was good!  She bakes with real butter eggs sugar etc.....
I hope that you guys can go by and at least check it out.

Tell us your favorite Joke / 9 Words Women Use....
« on: June 26, 2008, 12:38:41 PM »
             9 WORDS WOMEN USE

(1) Fine: This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.

(2) Five Minutes: If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.

(3) Nothing: This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing usually end in fine.

(4) Go Ahead: This is a dare, not permission. Don't Do It!

(5) Loud Sigh: This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing. (Refer back to # 3 for the meaning of nothing.)

(6) That's Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements a women can make to a man. That's okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.

(7) Thanks: A woman is thanking you, do not question, or Faint. Just say you're welcome. (I want to add in a clause here - This is true, unless she says 'Thanks a lot' - that is PURE sarcasm and she is not thanking you at all. DO NOT say 'you're welcome' . that will bring on a 'whatever').

(8) Whatever: Is a women's way of saying F**K YOU!

(9) Don't worry about it, I got it: Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking 'What's wrong?' For the woman's response refer to # 3.

Lighter News / Just something NEAT we saw last night....
« on: April 23, 2008, 08:30:49 PM »
Last night we were outside enjoying the sunset.  We were looking up at the contrails etc, then all of a sudden we see a jet ( I guess that what you call it) coming in over a STEALTH bomber!  It was refueling in the air.....it was sooooo cool! Never heard the bomber (of course) and it took a bit before we heard the jet, we watched it for about a minute then it disappeared from site!  It was such a wow look at that moment. Gosh I wish I would have had a good camera it was really neat to see and they were flying pretty low.

Religion Opinion / Is this wrong or is it me?
« on: April 17, 2008, 02:11:24 PM »
last week, as I was finishing up cleaning the bath, I hear my dogs barking.....
Well I look down to hall to the back door and there is a strange man there.
He is just standing there, no knock etc.  THEN he starts trying to get my door open, thank goodness I locked it, cause I cannot hear when I am in other parts of the house. He tries for a few moments to jiggle and push the door open...
I am freaking out at this point that I do not want to open the door up and find out why he is trying to get in my house all I am thinking is CRAP the gun is on the other side of the house. Well he leaves and  I watch him get into a NICE NEW Chevy suburban.  He goes down a shortcut road and does not even go to a neighbors house and try to get in.....
So I go outside and find on top of the dog house some Watchtower magazines etc......well I will tell you what!!!!!!  I do not appreciate someone coming to solicit their personal religious opinion and I really do not appreciate them trying to enter my home with out my permission.  In my neighborhood that is a good way to end up shot!  I have been up in arms over it and will not leave my door unlocked no matter what.... &^&**(
I feel that I am justified in my anger, no one has the right to enter my home without my permission.  legally where do I stand if I would chosen to shoot first and ask questions later.

National Political Opinion / New Government Seal ! lol
« on: March 17, 2008, 01:08:58 PM »
This came with a picture of a red/white/blue condom, however I removed it...wouldn't post with it. lol

Official Announcement:    The federal government today announced that it is changing its emblem from an Eagle to a CONDOM because it more accurately reflects the government's political stance. A condom allows for inflation, halts production, destroys the next generation, protects a bunch of pricks, and gives you a sense of security while you're actually being screwed!

Crime Stopper / Recent Crimes in Iberia
« on: March 13, 2008, 03:17:06 PM »
I have a question about the vandalism that occurred in Iberia about 2 weeks ago.
My daughter has information regarding who commited this crime. She is afraid to come forward because, her friend that also knows, did come forward and wrote a statement to the Iberia police regarding his knowledge of the crime. Now the police took this information and went to the person in question and told them that her friend had written a statement about them.  This guy is just a kid and now I fear for his life because these people are involved in meth as well.  I want my daughter to do the right thing however I will not allow her to be place in danger!  Help me find a solution.  I know this is not involving Pulaski County but surely someone can help.

Tell us your favorite Joke / IRS Questions
« on: March 11, 2008, 03:39:43 PM »
OK this is my last post today...

At the end of the tax year the IRS office sent an inspector to audit the books of a Synagogue. While he was checking the books he turned to the Rabbi and said, 'I notice you buy a lot of candles. What do you do with the candle drippings?'

'Good question,' noted the Rabbi. 'We save them up and send them back to the candle makers, and every now and then they send us a free box of candles.'

'Oh,' replied the auditor, somewhat disappointed that his unusual question had a practical answer. But on he went, in his obnoxious way: 'What about all these bread wafer
purchases? What do you do with the crumbs?'

'Ah, yes,' replied the Rabbi, realizing that the inspector was trying to trap him with an unanswerable question. 'We collect them and send them back to the manufacturer, and every now and then they send us a free box of bread-wafers.'

'I see,' replied the auditor, thinking hard about how he could fluster the know-it-all Rabbi. 'Well, Rabbi,' he went on, 'what do you do with all the leftover foreskins from the
circumcisions you perform?'
'Here, too, we do not waste,' answered the Rabbi. 'What we do is save all the foreskins and send them to the tax office, and about once a year they send us a complete
dick.'

National Political Opinion / Robin William's Plan for Peace
« on: March 11, 2008, 03:31:05 PM »

The Plan!
You gotta love Robin Williams...
Even if he's nuts!  Leave it to Robin Williams to come up with the perfect plan.  What we need now is for our UN Ambassador to stand up and repeat this message.

Robin Williams' plan...(Hard to argue with this logic!)

"I see a lot of people yelling for peace but I have not heard of a plan for peace.  So, here's one plan."

1) "The US will apologize to the world for our "interference" in their affairs, past &present.  You know, Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Tojo, Noriega, Milosevic, Hussein, and the rest of those "good ole boys", we will never "interfere" again.

2) We will withdraw our troops from all over the world, starting with Germany , South Korea , the Middle East, and the Philippines .  They don't want us there.  We would station troops at our borders.  No one allowed sneaking through holes in the fence.
3) All illegal aliens have 90 days to get their affairs together and leave. We'll give them a free trip home.  After 90 days the remainder will be gathered up and deported immediately, regardless of whom or where they are.  They're illegal!!!  France will welcome them.
4) All future visitors will be thoroughly checked and limited to 90 days unless given a special permit!!!!  No one from a terrorist nation will be allowed in.  If you don't like it there, change it yourself and don't hide here.   Asylum would never be available to anyone.  We don't need any more cab drivers or 7-11 cashiers.

5) No foreign "students" over age 21.  The older ones are the bombers.  If they don't attend classes, they get a "D" and it's back home baby.

6) The US will make a strong effort to become self-sufficient energy wise.  This will include developing nonpolluting sources of energy but will require a temporary drilling of oil in the Alaskan wilderness.  The caribou will have to cope for a while

7) Offer Saudi Arabia and other oil producing countries $10 a barrel for their oil.  If they don't like it, we go someplace else.  They can go somewhere else to sell their production.  (About a week of the wells filling up the storage sites would be enough.)

8) If there is a famine or other natural catastrophe in the world, we will not "interfere."  They can pray to Allah or whomever, for seeds, rain, cement or whatever they need.  Besides most of what we give them is stolen or given to the army.  The people who need it most get very little, if anything.

9) Ship the UN Headquarters to an isolated island someplace.  We don't need the spies and fair weather friends here. Besides, the building would make a good homeless shelter or lockup for illegal aliens.

10) All Americans must go to charm and beauty school.  That way, no one can call us "Ugly Americans" any longer.  The Language we speak is ENGLISH...learn it...or LEAVE...Now, isn't that a winner of a plan?

"The Statue of Liberty is no longer saying "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses."  She's got a baseball bat and she's yelling, 'you want a piece of me?' "

Tell us your favorite Joke / Please Pray for Rick
« on: March 11, 2008, 02:47:55 PM »
PLEASE PRAY FOR RICK

Rick was in trouble. He forgot his wedding anniversary.

His wife was really angry. She told him 'Tomorrow morning, I expect to find a gift in the driveway that goesfrom 0 to 200 in less than 6 seconds AND IT BETTER BE THERE!!'

The next morning Rick got up early and left for work.

When his wife woke up she looked out the window and sure enough there was a box gift-wrapped in the middle of the driveway.

Confused, the wife put on her robe and ran out to the driveway, and brought  the box back in the house.
She opened it and found a brand new bathroom scale.

Rick has been missing since Friday. Please pray for him!

ROBERTSVILLE, Mo. (AP) - Experts believe a black bear may be responsible for a series of attacks on dogs in eastern Missouri.

Three dogs have been apparently attacked recently in Franklin County. One dog's injuries were so bad it had to be euthanized.

Theveterinarian who treated the dogs believes a black bear is responsible.Several residents of the area have recently reported sightings of ablack bear.

The Missouri Department of Conservation warns thatbears, while rare in eastern Missouri, are drawn to food sources suchas trash bins. Over time, they can also lose their fear of humans.

Restaurant Opinion / Mcdonalds Jeff City Mo Blvd
« on: September 15, 2007, 04:17:28 PM »
Hi guys,
I went to JC last Weds.  all I ordered was a medium coke.   I placed it between my legs while I was in the car...cup holder full of change. Well before I made it from JC to Eldon I had this huge whelpish rash break out on my legs specifically in the area the cup was touching my legs.  I stopped at the McDs in Eldon and showed the General Mgr....she was freaking out!  she gave me a bag to put the cup in and told me to call the 800 customer service line....which I did.  Now this rash made me sweat profusely, have extreme kidney pain horrible headaches and made my hands red and splotchy where I had handled it.  I have been through the gauntlet of who to call what to do...been to the Dr and the Er....however the 'rash' only stayed on my legs for about 5-6 hours. As it was diminishing it turned a dark purplish color.
McDs insurance company contacted me and told me they hold no liability to me and not even for the medical expenses I have incurred let alone I am still suffering from a headache that make me wish I was dead and the kidney pain.  The ER basically knocked me out and said go to the health dept.for a toxicology test...HA!  Well after 5 phone calls and messages....still no answer there....so I contacted the City of Jeffersons health inspectors whose answers to me were  .....What do you expect me to do?  And that I would have to hire my own independent lab to test the cup because he says that I tainted it!    I am at my wits end and sicker than a dog.  I have been called a liar and that I tampered with the cup so on and so forth....called one lawyer that told me if Mcds would offer to cover my medical expense and then compensate me above and beyond than I would be fine without a lawyer....well McDs say they hold no liability.  I will add that I am not a sensitive skin person nor do I have allergies...other than the seasonal stuff most of us suffer from.  I am seeking advice and a name of a blood sucking lawyer that can help me. I still have the cup and have many witnesses to this including people in the Eldon McDs and their General Manager that were freaking out when I came in complaining.  I also was with a girl with medical training when this happened.  Please help me!
All I wanted was something to quench my thirst and have ended up with more than a weeks worth of being so sick I can hardly move out of bed.  I did really like to eat at McDs but now I will never set foot in a McDs again....
We all know that McDs is a favorite of young children and if this happened to me....just imagine if your child turned up with this!!!

Local News / Helicopter in my back yard last night
« on: June 21, 2007, 12:14:08 PM »
Hi again,
woke up last night (weds or actually thurs)  about 240am.  I live off of 133 north of Dixon and we had an ambulance, several volunteer firefighters? , and others at the end of our highway (DD) Then an helicopter landed huge scene and lots of flashing lights.  Hope everyone is ok, but it looked bad. I haven't heard what happened, but the news hardly ever covers anything that happens around here.
