we called rescue orgs and they came from columbia to get the worst of them but the man threw a fit so he is still there! he has since moved them out of the foot and half of poop they were standing in and put them across road. the mare and filly are moved to his tiny yard up the road. But he will resort back to neglect as he has always done. this cycle has been going on for a couple of years now and 2 horses have died due to malnutrition under his care already! if you turn on hartford at the storage sheds there is a small drive that goes to the right he lives there at the end and mare and filly are there. the other 3 are further down after old gravel plant. they were locked in stalls with nothing in old barn on the left but are now loose across road from barn. the mare and filly look better after 4 days of grazing our land but he has since moved them! this situation has been reported numerous times by a number of people who live on road and watch them slowly deteriorate.

There are horses being neglected on Hartford rd. Police and rescue orgs have been contacted. Owner does better after reported but always goes back to not caring for these animals! They are going downhill again and have no food or water. my children filled 5 gallon buckets for them but in summer heat is not near enough. please someone do something. This is ridiculous to let him continue the same cycle over and over again! One Gelding needs put down and mare and new filly are going downhill quickly! We actually snuck mare and filly onto our property to graze for a couple hours. dont know what else to do!!! This man needs to be taught a lesson and his animals confinscated>

I know marks dogs and all are loving and and if guilty of anything too spoiled.  He has recently lost 2 more.  The amount of dogs "missing" on his road is outrageous.  And not just his.  The Newfie was just the beginning. Since there has been 2 husky mixes, a cattle dog and numerous mutts.  Someone is taking these dogs.  One person can't have 5 dogs in a year go missing.  Mark is home 90% of the time.  In fact we can barely get him to visit.  If his dogs want to go jump in the river on a summer day I think they should be allowed that luxury.  He has no close nieghbors other than river traffic.  If you don't know the situation or have anything nice to say be quite!  We have lost dogs on our road too.  Every deer season our neighbors are shot usually fataly and numerous stolen and recovered or never recovered.  There was the "testing lab" rumor but never proven.  There just is no happy medium for this problem.  All I know is Mark is a more responsible owner than most.  Always the first to feed a stray.

I bet its the dixon thief. Check your propane tanks.  He has been out of prison for about 3 weeks now.  He was actually arrested in Hancock in a white abandoned house by a mini horse farm.  None of his family wants him back.  It is totally his M.O.

We have a couple like that in dixon.  He cries that he's an addict and steals for the drugs so he always gets 120 day shock?, He has robbed everyone in town including family but guess who is out again.  Never ceases to amaze me.  I know somone doing 90 days for unpaid traffic fines and this idiot only has 30 days longer for stealing anything worth value huffing propane out of everyones tanks etc... I know that the traffic violations are breaking the law and must be answered but it wasn't a dui or anything just No insurance and not paying the fine.  someone has things backwards.

Honestly, Good Samaritan in West Way is Better.  I just donate my things it saves the hassle and they are cheap and nice.  You have to "dig" but there clothing is just as nice as the other places and they are way cheaper.  Plus your helping someone out.  I spent 9$ the other day and got all 4 of my kids a nice name brand outfit (Aeropostle, Childrens place)  plus 2 pairs of nikes for my 8 year old.  It just depends(with any thrift store) when and who brings stuff cause it changes all the time.
