if you give them an inch they want eight!

That's what he said.

I have to wonder about people who are obsessed with the rapings of children and who may or may not have done it.  There is no point.  There is no reason to disrespect my religion or my opinions or myself for that matter with your hateful comments.

You're Catholic. There are plenty of reasons to disrespect your religion; though, I would agree that this isn't really the thread for it.

3
We must STOP these puppets for the elite that we call our government from taking all of our rights and liberties under the guise of securing us from a threat that doesn't exist!

Meh...I don't mind giving up a few rights for the extra security. We live in a different age than the founders. They didn't have the urgent threats to their lives like we do. Back in their time, 17 men couldn't have killed 2,977 people in less than a few hours.

4
I think Rush Limbaugh is a terrible, terrible human being, but he is a famous Missourian. I don't see a problem with him being included in the Hall of Famous Missourians. I do wonder what's up with Maya Angelou, though. Why isn't she in the Missouri Hall of Fame? She is a famous Missourian.

5
Basically, thats not what I said at all. Read it again dipwad.

Putting terrorist attack in quotes implies that it wasn't an attack by terrorists, and the rest of the post was about democide. It's pretty clear what you said. What did you mean to say?

6

Basically, you are saying 9/11 was a government plot to take your rights away so they can kill you more easily. Nice...

Yes, we lost several thousand people to the"terrorist attack" in New York. Don't let any government convince you that terrorism is bigger threat than your own government. Whats the number ONE cause of death worldwide? DEMOSIDE! Democide is the MURDER of any person or people by a government, including genocide, politicide, and mass murder.  Democide does not include soldiers killed in battle. We must fight for our liberty and freedom and not be buffaloed into trading it for security! This supposed terrorism threat is played out big in the media and is just a tool for the "elite" to take away our freedoms and shred the constitution. Statistically your more likely to get hit by a tornado and lighting in the same day!   click link

We have the strongest military in the world and always will no matter what cuts they make.

Dumb, dumb, dumb...duuuuuuuumb.

8
Please if you would tell me what freedoms of mine are in jeopardy from soures abroad, and not from our own government?

2,977 lost their inalienable right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness on September 11, 2001. How easy is that to forget?

Bin Laden was not going to take away my freedom, hes just a terrorist. Al queda was never going to jeopardize my freedom. Iraq isnt either, nor is Iran.  They may try, but until they try and encroach onto American Soil, the military is just following orders of men with agendas, not to the people of the United States, but to themselves.

You ever stop and think why they haven't encroached upon American soil? Do you really think we'd be left alone if we didn't have a strong defense?

9
99% protestors fight for my freedom more than the US military in this day in age.

That's an absurd statement. 99% refers to the economic disparity between the 1% of United States citizens that hold the bulk of America's wealth and the rest of us. It's hardly a movement about freedoms. It's more economic than anything. I agree that their protests are testing our first amendment rights, but that isn't really the overall cause of the demonstrators. Protecting our freedom IS the cause of the United States military. While you may not agree with the wars we are involved in, it's hard to dispute that the men and women who put their lives on the line are fighting for our freedom.

If the pres at the time ordered it your beloved military would be against you and then would you praise them?

Would current retired military still support the current military if it were used against them? Good question. It happened to veterans of WWI. 40,000+ marched to Washington and camped out to get the government to pay out cash for their service, and Republican President Hoover ordered the Army to disperse them. General Patton actually ordered the Army to charge the veterans with fixed bayonets and adamsite gas.

. the healthcare system would be overwhelmed even mor so, that is what nobama wants.

Obama is already working on an appeasement for religious institutions. This isn't about health care at all. It's politics. It's about the soccer mom vote. It's no coincidence that it's coming up in an election year during the Republican primaries. Republicans are making a mistake by making this such a big issue. Obama is going to come out unscathed through compromise, and women everywhere are discovering a reason to vote. Most Catholic women use contraception too.

My point was at 37 they can get a job and not depend so much on military.

It's difficult for some people in the military to get acclimated to civilian life. Some people need time to find out who they are. And yes, some just want to be lazy and drink beer. Regardless, they earned their money. If they are content with their retirement check, what's it to you? They served their country for twenty years; they earned their money. This isn't about anyone depending on anyone; though, our retired military should be able to depend on the nation they served. No, this is about what has been earned. People were promised health care for life, and they feel cheated. The issue is whether or not it's reasonable for premiums to rise with inflation for retired military under the age of 65, or whether or not there should be premiums at all.

he is cutting combat pay
http://www.duckhuntingchat.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=101&t=181284

He isn't cutting combat pay at all. Congress decided to prorate combat pay daily. Instead of getting $225 a month for combat pay, it'll be $7.50 a day. It's actually an increase if you're willing to do the math. $225 x 12 =$2700. $7.50 x 365=$2,737.5. They didn't do it to skimp on people in combat zones. They did it to stop people from collecting a months worth of combat pay for one day of being in a combat zone. Every time there is a command change, people show up in combat zones just for a day or two. Command changes happen at the first of the month, so a lot of people were getting two months worth of combat pay for only being there two days. How is stopping this a bad thing? Seriously, it's more money for people actually deployed.

has nobama cut the unions heathcare?

Unions work their health care plans out with their employers. I thought you wanted a president who didn't meddle  in private sector affairs.

15
Obama has alway disliked the Military!

Proof, please.

16
The plan to get working age retirees off of tricare is one that was proposed by the DoD under Bush's administration. It's not a presidential plan at all. It's a DoD plan.

There is a big difference between the "church" and the Bible!

The point is that the church felt heliocentrism was such a threat to Christianity that they burned people at the stake for supporting it. Their actions legitimize my point that heliocentrism negates scripture.

While we are at it, which Bible? The Vulgate Bible, Textus Receptus, Septuagint, etc. Which one is your bible translated from? Wich one is infallible? They all differ in some way.

Still does not answer how Obama got this increase in his proposed budget to cover his losses on healthcare

Hmm...$111 billion increase...that's terrible. Oh, it saves the government money in the long run. Sweet. It's funny how reading a whole article can change the substance of it dramatically.

"About two-thirds of the increase is due to effects of newly signed legislation that raises costs for one part of the health care law, but still saves the government money overall. The rest is due to technical changes in Treasury assumptions about such matters as the distribution of income in America."

When do you think the words "oblate spheroid" were invented?

Greek and Hellenistic philosphers were debating a spherical Earth since 6th century BC. Surely God could have been as accurate as them. It's not quite an oblate spheroid, but it's pretty darn close. Way closer than the bible's circle. LoL.

Your just digging to try and disprove the Bible, which can't be done!

I'm not trying to disprove the bible. I'm just showing you some of the inaccuracies in it. The same inaccuracies that scared the crap out of the church when Galileo supported Copernicus' idea of heliocentricism publically back in the 17th century. If the information weren't so damning, there would have been no need for the Roman Inquisitions. If heliocentrism doesn't negate scripture, why did the church torture and kill scientists for heresy when they discovered it? Why would the church so vehemently fight against it?

  • Isaiah 40:22
He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in.
    Isaiah 40:21-23

The Earth isn't a circle. A circle is two dimensional. It's an oblate spheroid. You'd think an omiscient being would know that.

Mark,

The bible is full of inaccurate descriptions of the Earth. I expect divine writing to be more knowledgable and accurate than a third grader. Maybe I'm just being nitpicky, but I can't worship an ignorant God.

Here are a few examples I found on the web.

Job 28:24
For he looks to the ends of the earth, and sees everything under the heavens. (what end of the Earth)
Daniel 4:10-11
The visions of my head as I lay in bed were these: I saw, and behold, a tree in the midst of the earth; and its height was great. The tree grew and became strong, and its top reached to heaven, and it wasvisible to the end of the whole earth. (that's impossible unless the Earth is flat)
Matthew 4:8
Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the worldand the glory of them; (again, impossible unless the Earth is flat
Deuteronomy 28:64
And the Lord will scatter you among all peoples, from one end of the earth to the other; and there you shall serve other gods, of wood and stone, which neither you nor your fathers have known. (there are no ends on a globe)
Job 37:18
Can you, like him, spread out the skies, hard as molten lava?(our atmoshere is made up of layers of gases because of gravity. Nothing about our sky is hard. Why doesn't god understand gravitational pull?)

Call me out?  Where does the Bible say the earth is flat?

OK now its your turn...you said "its proven that the Earth is NOT the center of the universe" Show me some proof! The Earth revolving around the Sun does not change the relation ship between the circle and the dot. Most scientists say the universe is infinite...if this is the case there is no center except your perspective! Where is this "proof" you speak of?

The problem isn't that the bible says the Earth is the center of the universe. The problem is that the bible says the Earth is flat, imovable, and that the sun revolves around it. God should know how our solar system works if He created it. There shouldn't be so many mistakes in the bible if God's word is infallible. There are a number of scientific mistakes in the bible. If an omniscient being wrote the bible, the facts in it would hold up when confronted with the scientific method. As it is now, it can't even stand up to grade school astronomy.

So words and pictures will be illegal too if they have their way/ hmmmm

I blame Thomas Jefferson and his vitriolic rhetoric. I propose we officially censure his hate speech, and heavily redact his writings to prevent future catastrophes. For the love of God, think of the children!!!

I suggest we redact the following from The Declaration of Independence just to be on the safe side.

"But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security."

That may have been your intention, but my guess is, she felt belittled.  I know if it had been my post, I would have felt that way.

TRUCE

Fair enough. I accept your truce. Live long and prosper.

27
But, if a war had started, it would have been because you fired the first shot.

My actions were for the greater good. I saw someone making mistakes which were detrimental to their objective, and I provided them with insight to teach them of their follies. Your intentions were to belittle me.

Maybe I did fire the first shot, but it was a warning shot. You shot center mass.

I am willing to remove this post if you correct your errors.

I'm not the one who needs a job, therefore, there is no need for me to be super critical with my spelling or grammar. Think of me what you will, but I was only trying to help someone see the error in their ways. All I want is to show them that they should use all oppurtunities to their advantage, and to do so, they need to be as professional as possible in a thread such as this.

Besides, do you really want to start a grammar war on PCW?

29
I agree with what_ the .  I KNOW when I write on this board, that it is nothing like I write for work or how I would write a resume.  Your ass-u- ming much PrE4chEr.  If you donít mean to sound condescending then donít be. What do you think she is going to put on the resume under name- listening.   I doubt one of the interview questions will be, Are you the person that post as listening on PCW?  To say that she may not get the job because of your post, take many ego trips? How is Kevin Hillman gonna know?

You are correct. PCW doesn't have to negatively effect her in any way. She could just never mention PCW. Though she did miss a good oppurtunity. She could have used this thread to start a correspondence with Mr. Hillman about the position. That would certainly have been beneficial to her chances.

Edited because the pot was calling the kettle a dick.  But still, not cool when jobs are on the line.  Let the prospective employer decide instead of publicly running someone down.

1. I said I will delete mine if they edit their post. I am willing to do this because I don't want to ruin someone's chance at getting a job.

2. You call it "publicly running someone down". I call it rectifying a problem. It is true they may not get the job because of my post, and for that I appologize. However, it would be much worse if I don't point out the problem, and they continue to make the same mistakes.
