JB Quote <<My hat is off to the current commissioners who are actually working and trying to improve this mess.>>

How long have these commissioners been in office??   No sales tax on the ballot = no help for an understaffed, underfunded dept.

Not enough effort to improve things.   Vote them all out and get some in that will listen to the citizens and not worry about themselves or any of the other many excuses I have heard over the last 7 years.

Actions speak louder than words.

Biker and Matrsnot I think you are both spot on.  Anyone that follows the happenings in our country away from the mainstream media can see what is happening.

Bill may be a good "instructor" but I can tell you from experience he is NOT a good leader.  I was working their when the deputy "quit" (NO she did NOT quit) and I am no longer working their because of Bill and another individual who is still at the sheriff's department.  As a matter of fact, the sheriff's department is short several GREAT employees because of Bill and the same other individual.  Bill definately has the "Do as I say, NOT as I do attitude" and that is not a good thing in that line of work.  If a deputy or someone else were to do something that he did, oh boy would it backfire on that employee.  Bill is NOT even close to being ready for the sheriff's position.

Very well said and all true.  I worked there also at that time.  One can work for low wages in a good work environment, but when the bs level is high they tend to leave as we both did as well as several other dispatchers and deputies.

Oh I am going to throw another wrench in the tow mess.

Sheriff has the MSHP changed their policy of no tow rotation? Firegirl you may be able to help here since you are there now and were with me when all this happened....  I recall when I was there I stopped dispatch from using the tow rotation at the recommendation of Troop I Communications because of the liability factor. But because of the whining of a local tow company or 2 I was forced to put it in back in use by the Captain at that time who was my supervisor.  I viewed it as a political move on your part sorry to say.  For the record the whiner was not Rothmunds as they were new on the Pulaski County scene, but the company with the worst response time etc.   What we did without the rotation was use the closest service at the dispatcher's discretion when a deputy called for a tow truck without requesting a certain company.  It all worked out because each dispatcher knew how to get ahold of the different tow companies and had our own preferences from our own experiences having to call a service in a certain part of the County or a certain time of day.  I know that on most 3-11pm shifts back then I could get a tow truck on our scene usually within 10-15 minutes from my call and we in dispatch never had an issue with this practice. The only ones with issues were the tow companies with lousy service.

No, the bail bondsman are getting rich.

That's ok....they about went broke with the last prosecutor.

Matrsnot is spot on in his assessment.

As far as the other side.  I have no clue who Long is other than by name, Burgess and Pappas are both active reserve deputies and know the dept., the problems and how to move forward.

Keep in mind that aliens crossing the border are not just Mexican.  You have middle easterners, and all sorts of folks from other countries in Central and South America.  Terrorists are using the drug cartels to help them access our country.

I call BS on that statistic. He would have to apprend 271 a day  for 365 days.25% is 99226  I could not find a source that was not a blog. One was call shavedlongcock.blogspot. Really?

Apologies for not checking that stat first.  Here is a link to more accurate numbers directly from the MCSO website.  Still staggering.

Interesting statistic from AZ.  Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s office – in a single county – apprehends a staggering 25% of all criminal illegal aliens in the entire United States every year.

I quoted a bunch of numbers straight from ICE in one of my columns after a training session with ICE. If my memory still works in 2010 ICE deported 492,000 some criminal aliens out of an estimated illegal base population of about 26 million. ICE was telling us sheriff's that was a victory in the war on illegal entry. I do not think we bought that story. So far I cannot find the column I wrote about this taining.

Only 25.5 million more to go.  They better get to work.

For those on Facebook follow a page called Stand With Arizona.  Lots of good facts, press releases and information about illegals.

Did the County win the lottery??  First real estate and now graders

Good deal! Smart move! But I just have one question......where did the county come up with the money? I thought we were broke! Sheriff is always complaining about "no funds." Both eastern & western commissioners never have enough money to fix roads.  Just wondering.....

Good point Ed.  My thoughts exactly.

Was it the "various firearms" in different locations that made him suspicious?

Probably because the deputy knew the subject.  I recognize the name and haven't worked there for 3 years.

I would love to but so far I cannot find the silly folder that has the figures.

I got all that information right from the MULES section of the MSHP website.  Put the dispatchers to work.  ;D

Are you able to provide a comparison of these numbers to the ones we got when I compiled them in either 2007 or 2008 to see how much of an indrease there has been?  The MULES stats that is.

I would budget a very high number per gallon for your fuel line.  With the events in the middle east and world economy Mark's price may be way too low.

Legalize it and tax it.   Agree with you all about the comparisons to alcohol and peoples behavior.

Looks like something for the lawyers to haggle over.   Will be interesting to see how this comes out in court if he doesn't take a plea.

But the press release states that the vehicle was loaned to a friend.  Isn't loaning it to him the owner giving consent?

Not trying to stir it but just trying to understand why this one is different than the dozens we handled with I was there as everyone was told it was a civil issue and we couldn't help.  I know KCMO PD still handle loaning a vehicle as a civil issue because we get plenty of calls wanting us to repossess the loaned unit.  But we don't get involved either as it can be a gray area and open to lawsuit issues.

Bondsman should revoke his bond and throw him back in.
