I'm sorry for your loss.  I lost my mother four years ago and it still hurts.  I think that is if the Veteran is buried in a National Cemetary.  You could check with the National Cemetary at Fort Leonard Wood and they would know for sure or maybe something they can do to help you.  My husband and I have pre-arranged burial at that cemetary, headstones arranged and wills done up.  We are fairly young (in my opinion), but I don't want my kids to have to go through unnecessary hurt if I can help it.  Everyone should make arrangements beforehand and keep advised on changes.

So true, my husband and I have got our plots and our trust already done up and as we have talked about when we can get a little more ahead I want us to get our headstone and other parts of the funerals done up and told him as soon as we can afford it I want to get life insurance cause I dont want our kids to have to worry about what to do or how to pay for anything. My husband doesnt like to talk about none of this but i want a little bit of piece of mind knowing things will be done as we want and already taken care of. And I know alot of people dont want to talk to their children about insurances and other things but make yourself do it so that way no one has any confusion if you have insurance and how much and where the policy's are at and keep them up to date cause like in our situation were not sure what insurances my mom had were still good and what ones werent no good so just praying that the funeral director finds out if she had enough to pay for my moms own funeral.

I really believe the government sucks!!!! My father spent his life in the army so he could take care of my mom and his family. When my dad died my mom was told that when she passed the military would pay for half her funeral cost. But no my brother found out today from the one at the VA that years ago yes was true but with all the changes made they will pay 0 on the spouses funeral. What is the purpose of these people fighting for us and our freedom and making spouses believe that they will be taken care of too only to find out it is all a lie?!?! I bet my dad is rolling over in his grave thinking he made sure stuff for my mom was taken care of only to find out they not only lied to her and us, but they lied to him saying he served his country to take care of her. Sorry just really ticks me off that everything we were told by the Army turned out to be a big fat lie!!!!!!

I am not sure who to talk to about this. My father was active duty when he died March 15, 1976 in the army. Anyhow I was also told that when my mom passed away that the military would pay for half of her funeral and that is what my mom said they told her. Well my mom just passed away april 26 and my brother called someone over at ft wood and told him they dont pay anything on the spouses, but if that is true why did they always tell my mom they would? Does anyone on here know if any of what they told my mom for years is the truth or did they lie to her all these years? What was the purpose of all the years my dad served to make sure my mom was taken care of to only be lied too. If anyone has any info please fill me in. As I said my dad was active duty not retired.

Has anyone eaten here? I have been twice and I like it so far. It is just a little pricey but you get what you pay for. Hubby goes nuts that he cant understand the ones who have waited on us and makes me laugh everytime. Just make sure you look at your ticket cause both times been over I tell them 1 is a senior and they never put it down so you have to tell them at the register. But regardless of that we will be going back.

I just don't see what the purpose of the cameras were since it took them being broke into this time for them to start leaving the lights on inside the building. But honestly I can see someone wanting to maybe steal tires but the broom to the bobcat? Oh well since they were stupid and FIRED one person who actually knew how to grade the roads and done better than any of the others especially the 1 who got the route !!!! I can really care less about what really happens out there. Now that makes a gooseneck trailer that has been stolen from there and now these items. Might save some tax payers dollars if they would put up a wire fence and then keep the place locked up like they had talked about doing before. JMO

Local News / Break in at the Pulaski County Western Shed
« on: September 10, 2013, 03:08:29 AM »
Approximately $6,000 worth of property items were stolen from the western district shed in the last week, according to Pulaski County commissioners.

Western Commissioner Rick Zweerink said that the thief or thieves stole four truck tires, worth approximately $2,000, and a hydraulic broom that was worth around $4,000.

The hydraulic broom was intended for the east district, but the chaos of the flood forced county officials to store it in the western district shed, located in the Swedeburg area.

Pulaski County Clerk Brent Basset said that the shed has been robbed once before. After the incident, the county purchased a security camera.

Zweerink said that it looked like from the security tapes that the thief knew the camera was there.

“He crawled up the conduit pipe on the side and turned the camera straight to the ground,” he said. “He knew the camera situation perfectly.”

Zweerink said commissioners are working to get an image from camera tapes.

The incident occurred on Thursday, Aug. 29 at around 11 p.m. Commissioners request the public keep an eye out if they are around the shed and to call the police if anyone is around it late at night.

I had my rental home destroyed by someone who lived there, she was months behind on rent and even gave a set day she was going to be out, but the day come and she hadn't left and then was told that I still could not do anything cause I didn't get it in writing. So I had to give her an eviction notice for 30 days to vacate my property, so I done my as I was instructed to do and we were set a court day and we went to court and the judge then told her with all that she had put us through he wasn't giving her 30 days he was only giving her 10 days. She was dumb enough to ask the judge what would happen if she wasn't out in the 10 days and he plainly told her that if she wasn't for me to call them back and tell the sheriff department what he said and they would come and help me throw her stuff out. Bad part is once she was out I went in and checked the place and she and her person who helped her move out knocked holes in every wall and even busted a hole in the floor next to the toilet and left cats in the house to destroy carpets so I had to take her back to court for the cost of all the repairs and the judge wasn't happy once he see the pictures of the home, so I also won that case against her. Now after these years of her not paying and not wanting to give me information on where her now ex husband works to pay for the damages I had found out she got a job so I now have put in for garnishment against her wages. So If you have a lease with them and you don't have it in writing from them on the day they were to be out then no honestly as I was told you have no rights, that you have to go through the eviction notice way.

Thanks Kathy and Jeff,

55 is way too fast, but 25 seems about right.   County commissioners are responsible for signage?

I think so, best bet is to call the courthouse and ask them and they should be able to tell you who does what and how.

« on: April 24, 2013, 01:54:51 AM »
all county roads I have ever been on have been either 20 or 25 mph never have I seen any higher. You could call 1 of the county sheds if the county maintains the road and as them what the speed limit is on whatever road you are on. My husband has been working for the road and bridge crew now for 25 years and every time I have asked what the speed limit is most have told me 25mph unless otherwise posted different.

17
If it is a county road and it snows, Yes there are supposed to grade the snow off wether with a motor grader or a truck with a snow plow on it. If it doesn't get done call the county shed and tell them what road or roads they have missed.

wow, now I can see why my husband never gets me flowers at that price i would cuss him out

well if any 16 year old go wont be with my son, I told him that no way is it smart to take any girl across state line unless the parent was with them, the car is in my son and his dads name both and insurance is in all our names. I know my son is a typical teenage who has done some stupid things but I feel that he still has a pretty good head on his shoulders and as I told him the number 1 thing to remember is I am not ready to be a real grandma just yet and was to see him be able to do something with his life and I think he is going to do the right things, like he says to me his goals right now are finishing his senior year and then going to Nevada mo to go to the welding institute and then see where things go from there...keeping my fingers crossed lol

20
yes I do understand what everyone is saying, But the thing is that is why I posted this on here, If it is not legal then I can show them this to prove to them that they are wrong, but if I am wrong then I have said all I can to them. I just want to know what the law is on taking any age person across state line?

21
I am assuming that you are the mother of one of the "young" boys. Why don't you advise your son to leave them behind?

he is one that is wanting to go yes but no girlfriend with him, but will be the one driving and that is why i want to know, since he is the driver and it is his car

22
lol yeah but I have no say in this situation

23
not sure but I dont want to see any of them kids get into any trouble, luckily not all of them have girlfriends they want to take only a couple want to but sure will dampen the ones who say it is ok if it turns out that it isnt.

24
My question is if a man who is 18 and some of his friends all decide they want to go to Florida during spring break and the guys want to take some of their girlfriends with them and lets say they are 16, can they get into trouble for taking them across state line? 1 of the girls her parents are getting a divorce and her mom says she doesn't mind if her daughter goes, Do they still need the dads permission to go or is it legal if only the mom says it is ok? or is it best they leave the girlfriends behind? Don't want to see anyone go to jail for taking anyone across state line.

don't count on a polygraph, I know someone who took 1 and it showed up that they didn't know if he did or didn't do it...and he was innocent. And also the guy who did the testing told the people no matter what the test showed if it went to court that the test wouldn't hold up in court.
