Just got a message from Mrs. Arnold saying they have been found.

I'm more than a little bit positive this lady came through my line the day she disappeared.  She's a very sweet woman, I hope they find her.

Crime Stopper / Re: Be Aware
« on: June 22, 2010, 03:59:04 AM »
These have been in Pulaski since the early 90s that I know of.  Never seen people throwing them in yards or anything like that, but I knew a group of people that used to set these off in Crocker cave all of the time.

I got an email one day about this, and it was ironic because they pretty much tell you EXACTLY how to make them in the email.  So now **anyone** can make them!!

Don't think we have to worry about this in Pulaski County but just be aware.
A friend sent me the warning and I checked it out on Snopes.

I was on Baclofen.  That SUCKED.

They're worried about people getting "high" huh??  Apparently these people aren't chronic pain patients.  I'm 29 years old, and I've had 2 back surgeries.  I've been told I *will* be in pain for the rest of my life, and I will be on pills for the rest of my life as well.  I've tried everything that they prescribe for pain.  I've gotten higher on prescription meds than I ever would have gotten high off of one joint.  I remember at one point in time telling my husband that I felt like I was walking on a cloud.  Thats when I stopped taking them as directed and tried to take less then directed.  Didn't help as much.   In an extremely painful time, I tried 1 joint.  I felt as though I could go for hours without pain, and didn't have the cloud walking effect.

So don't use the "high" defense.  You can get higher on prescription meds.

Let's just look at one: Baclofen...  "Relieves muscle spasticity by inhibiting the transmission of reflexes at the spinal cord level." This medication is used for Multiple Sclerosis spasticity, a very painful, disabling, condition of MS. Now, let's look at the side effects, and warnings:
Drowsiness, vertigo, dizziness, psychiatric disturbances, and muscular weakness.(for those that don't know, MS causes muscular weakness, so this can INCREASE it, very possibly causing the patient to end up wheelchair bound)
Avoid abrupt discontinuation of the drug.
Not for use in the elderly. The elderly are more likely to have central nervous system side effects at higher doses.
Should be free of infection prior to receiving intrathecal injection with this drug.
Dosage reduction may be necessary in patients with reduced kidney function.
May aggravate symptoms of psychiatric disorders (e.g., schizophrenia, confusion, psychosis).
This drug has a black box warning regarding the abrupt withdrawal ofintrathecal baclofen.Sudden discontinuation may result in severe complications, includingfever, rebound/exaggerated spasticity, muscle rigidity and severemuscle and kidney toxicity, which can lead to organ failure andpossibly death.

Compare that to, if you take too much you may get "high"....Well guess what, baclofen can KILL you.  Will "over dosing" on marijuana KILL you?  No.

Just do a little research, and you will discover that marijuana is the safest, of all the medications used for MS, and most (if not all) of the other medical conditions listed.  The MAIN difference?  Pharmaceutical companies have not found a way to capitalize on marijuana in it's natural state.  A vote against a well thought out bill for medicinal marijuana, is a vote for lining the pockets of pharmaceutical companies.  That, in itself, will make me look a lot closer at any elected Official who votes against it because, "there are other medications available".

I'm pro medicinal marijuana and I'm a chronic pain patient.  I do believe I would be for this pill, if it would have just that in it.  But, I've been prescribed narcotic pain relievers, and I have had liver issues in the past.  I do not abuse them, I use as indicated.  Actually, I use less than what is indicated.   If they can make the pill with the THC in it and have it as natural as the plant, I'd be all for it.  I'm tired of putting prescription poison in my body.  I don't wanna be pain free with huge liver problems.

I have wondered, if the same chemicals can be taken from the plant and put in a pill, would folks still want it?  I would think that could be done if there is a demand and need for it as a medication, but for some reason has not it seems.

Always wondered about that.

Local News / Re: The two lives of Todd Johnson

What bothers me more about this than anything is
That the sheriff has decided that Mr. Johnson has done this crime because a most Un-realiable so called witness who has changed his many times said he did it.
I haven't seen the news sources use the word
Allegedly once In any story that i have read.
From the very start this story has had so many holes in it I thought it was cheese %%$%$$#
An allegation (also called adduction) is a claim of a fact by a party in a pleading, which the party claims to be able to prove. Allegations remain assertions without proof, until they can be proved

Oh I agree with you 100%.  The case does sound fishy.  I just say don't say someone "seems nice."  Cause the people that seem nice aren't always nice.  But yes, the case does have huge holes in it.

To everyone who knew him and is truly horrified by this, I'm sorry it happened.  I'm with Kari, I hope they find out something that proves that he didn't do it.  But, you can't always go by how a person "seems nice."  John Wayne Gacy was a bday party clown, a chef, and a politician who was photographed with First Lady Carter. He seemed like a nice guy, and was later convicted of killing 33 people. Ted Bundy worked at a suicide prevention hotline, managed an office of Rockefeller's presidential campaign, and even graduated from college with a degree in psychology. It was later proven he killed 23 people. More were suspected. So don't always rely on whether or not a person seems nice.  Truthfully, everyone has the potential to snap, not everyone does it though.

Oh yeah.  I had a lady threaten to sue me.  There's been several reports of greeters getting slapped, punched, and even stabbed.  I read a news article where the person asked to see the receipt, and got stabbed.  For baby formula.

Ive seen people get really mad at Wal Mart when asked to see their receipt~

She called 911.  She has a scanner and she did hear them say it over the scanner.  No one ever showed up.  We're gonna look and see if there's anything visibly wrong with her house or any of the area near by.  We get drunken morons every night down here.  We've tried several times to get someone down here to do something about them, and no one ever shows.  One time they were out here blaring the horns on their cars at like 2 in the morning.  They drag race down here and everything else.  I'm just angry cause these people were out of their vehicles yelling at my mother and being threatening, and it didn't matter enough for someone to come out.  And if they did show, it was more than 4 hours after she made the initial 911 call.

Did you call PCSD?  Update?

There are some teenagers messing around by my mothers house, acting really threating and stuff.  Almost wrecked their vehicles from going so fast on the pavement and dirt road.  They've been out of the vehicles yelling at my mother.  She called 911.  Hour later, still no one has showed up.  Teenagers are still messing around down there.  This is beginning to tick me off

I no sooner walked in the shop today to be told both were found shot. Already had people come by spreading false news.  ###$$#@! No rest for the wicked

My mother has also told me she saw a small white truck with two men in it driving by our houses very slowly; she said they looked like they were scoping the place out.  And my father also said it was an S10.

I'm constantly having things happen down my road.  People acting suspiciously...drunk driving...etc.  Anytime anyone tries to report anything, we're always told no one has the time to come down here or told someone will be out and they never show up.  I have no doubt in my mind something is going to happen down here, and we're pretty much SOL.

I heard a lady living in Bosa Heights area also got busted into and her scripts were stolen. Folks lets all watch each others homes and report anything that just don't look right!

Local News / Re: What was the FIRE Tuesday morning

The fire last week must have been huge.  My father said he could see flames from Sellers-Sexton

They (whoever they are) are burning again this morning. A little further west than last week, but still a BIG fire.

All three are owned by members of the Walton family, so it doesn't suprise me.

Actually in Columbia there is a Wal Mart, Lowes and Sams all in the same shopping center if I remember right.  At any rate, I would love to see a Sam's here.

My husband said a server was sleeping with a soldier's wife while he was in Iraq.  He came in to the mess hall today and asked the guy if he was so-and-so.  Before the guy could answer, he got a blade to the throat.  That's the story I got.

I'll have my father get the tag number or sticker and we'll send it to you.  Also, I'll see if he still has the pics.  I'm certain there is an affair going on, because this is a *DAILY* thing.

Find out who owns the car, you should be able to pull the number off the base stickers to help identify the owner of the car. Send me the name, pics to me and I will have my husband who is a SGM on post pass it on to the chain of command and it will stop if they are military.  On or off post it doesn't matter,  not allowed.
