I hear the service is fantastic and soon there may be ease of escape also.

Wait!!  That's it!  I'll start "buying" my chrome jail cell now.  I can send PCSD an allotment every month for them to build me my very own chrome jail cell.  That way I'll have a nice cell all to myself when the time comes.  AND, the county will board me for FREE because I already paid for my cell to be built and chromed!!!!

It's just like putting money aside for retirement, except it's a more realistic alternative because it's more likely I'll end up a guest of JB than I will retire!!!!

I LOVE IT!!!    :th_gen129:

I wonder if there was a financial backer for one of our politicians or a politicians business? Would sales taxes affect him if he in fact exists?

On another note, Ransdall runs a business where sales taxes are charged, does this make him not want to see sales taxes go up?

There is no doubt the feds would contract for detainees.  There is ICE, US Marshal Service and then you have the military.  There is no brig near here.  I have been told by some that it may be an option also for a temp. holding facility.

Back to Bates County again... population under 17k.  Same type tax as Texas County passed....modern state of the art facility built.....federal holding besides county prisoners....asset to the County for many many years.

Certain Commssioner(s) have too many personal interests, contributors etc. that are against it so they are also.  If you need any ideas go back to the lists of campaign contributors that are posted on here and look at names.

I assume the County gets a half cent. They should push that back to 1/4 cent then get JB 3/4 cent. That's a plan that would garner support. That would increase the county Commissioners discretionary funds enough to make them happy, and it would assure us that the Sheriff would be funded in the amount we voters want, and not be left up to the Commissioners.. We don't trust that they would be fair with the money if it is left up to them. That also assures us that future Commissioner wont mess with law enforcement money. Seems to me any other plan that they would come up with kills it before it starts.

No matter what kind of a tax passes the Commissioners will get money to hire secretaries etc. to do their work. They will get extra money for pet projects.. That's the shame in thiis.

PHP was a nightmare and were now using SHTML for our site. I have launched the main page under this new format. http://www.pulaskicountyweb.com
You will find the breaking news for the county in the right hand column now. As we get each city done we will launch each city page with that cities most recent latest news stories specifically for that city.

There will be further changes to the pages, even the main page in coming week, we are also going to add a Big Piney page, Laquey page, and a Swedeborg page.

Here's some good news for a change..

1604
I was told this too..

Another question how is it Ronnie was a supervisor and Stan Crismon who is the other supervisor, How was Stan able to make so much more for the year since they make the same pay? Honestly how could he have worked that much overtime to get that much? I was also told the other day that the commissioners are not able to go to the county sheds with out being asked by the supervisor to come over is that true? Seems the commissioners have taken care of 1 problem with the supervisors now what will be done with the other 1?

1605
But isn't this in violation of the contract with the Union? The way I heard it was the unions contract states the man with the most senoirty must be the Supervisor. Again, Rumor..

Mr.Lepard
This is a fact not a rumor.  It took place friday morning.

I know it sounds crazy but people in government don't want you to report anything other than what they want you to report. What a perfect world that would be. Sounds like the Daily has sucumb to their demands. Sad.. Glad it wasn't them covering Hitler.

I'd imagine less people will want to read it, as if their readership isn't low enough already.

For a feel good story maybe the Daily could ask the good witch of the east to come up with some funding for the Sheriff's Department. Maybe the 7 dwarfs could form a committee for economic development.

I got it: Darrell can continue to give us the real news, while those who get tired of the real world in all its blazing glory can retreat to the DG for a little reassurance that "Good things happen in Pulaski County!" (Or is that just Waynesville and St. Robert?)

I just read that, good luck Daily.. We are already seeing that they aren't giving us what was really said at meetings, the real dirt...

It's always best to go to the source to learn what people believe. Here is an opinion piece by DawnDee Bostwick, the new editor of the Daily Guide, outlining her views:
 http://www.waynesvilledailyguide.com/opinions/x131783314/From-the-editor
I have strong opinions on this, but I'll keep them to myself -- for now.

What I will say is that freedom of the press belongs to those who own a press, and I strongly affirm that she and her publisher have every right to run a "feel-good" publication if that's what they think readers want. Obviously I have very different views, but the fact is that I never discussed any of this with Floyd Jernigan, the Rolla Daily News publisher who has also supervised the Waynesville Daily Guide since shortly after Joel Goodridge was fired in August. I left entirely on my own and without any awareness that this is the direction the Daily Guide would be going, so let's not read too much into a single opinion piece from a brand-new editor.

The guide is leaning toward feel good news even if it means we don't actually get the news it seems.

Interesting when compared to the Daily Guide article.  One wouldn't have known the meeting was quite so "heated".  I do now...........

Nothing against the Daily Guide.  I realize the new reporters are exercising a little more restraint as most would in a new job.

Raise?  The Sheriff will be blessed if he's not forced to lay anyone off.  I've talked with him in great detail about this and it's not a pretty picture.  This is a serious-serious predicament he's facing.

I went to school at Waynesville from the fourth grade on and never saw anything like that. I don't doubt that some bullies did that though.

I will say in the Vietnam war era, trainees were refereed to as Doggies and this was meant to be detrimental. Downtown Waynesville was lined with bars and instant credit places that took advantage of the GI's. Bars allowed everyone of just about any age to drink in them. Williams bus lines brought the soldiers to town and they came in droves. Locals often rolled them for their money in dark alleys etc. Was a different time for sure.

I put up with remarks being made to me all my life as my father was in the military
When I had to go to high school in Waynesville I was called Army trash - Army brat - get back to Fort Leonard Wood where you belong etc.
So you son will have to do what I had to do all my life - buck up and ignore the remarks

What's even worse other departments had surplusses, seems they didn't even need to try and cut expenses.

If that's true, Ricky is the man, and he is looking like the guy in the white hat that we have needed for some time. Keep it up and we will all have your back Ricky.

1616
As of yesterday morning rick zweerink went to the western shed and informed the men that ronnie walters would no longer be their supervisor. steve street who was a dump truck driver would be the new supervisor and ronnie would step down and be the dump truck operator. so now then rick is also going to see how stan crismon was able to make 6000. more for the year than ronnie did.

That's exactly how I got it.

When Ransdall said he was extremely disappointed that the Eastern District had spent $194,605 in funds from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and was only half-finished with the projects, Farnham heatedly defended the efforts of himself and his road crews.

After calling loudly for Eastern District Road Foreman Stan Crismon to come into the meeting room, Farnham told Ransdall, I don't care if you're disappointed or not. You've been picking on the Eastern District for the past two weeks now.

I agree two family households can be a huge problem for everyone involved. Usually caused by one or both parents, rarely by the children. From my expierience.

1620
I mean two different homes after a divorce or whatever caused the birth.

Are you saying children in a "two parent" family or "two family" household.

I can't believe you thing a two parent household is bad for a child.  If you mean two family household I agree that when you bring another adult into an already established one parent home, it does cause problems.
