I think it is possible it was a pipe bomb, when I think about the damage the blast caused.. But it sure wasn't very powerfull.. 3 m-80's side by side would do maybe the same or probably more damage.. I guage everything on M-80's lol..

If it was a bomb it must have been about the strength of maybe 3 m-80's. When we were kids m-80's would blow a 5 gallon paint can over the telephone lines.. I call that firecrackers, but I get your point.... Something similar happened at Louies once and it was fireworks.. The reason I think Molotov Cocktail is because it was burned inside the wall and I assumed the fluid maybe ran down inside the wall.. I have heard other rumors, but I don't have anything more than speculation.. I can tell you one thing, I bet the cops are taking it pretty damn serious, and I hope they catch who did it.. That's some stupid stuff there.. I for one would like to see that idiots picture in cuffs on the front page..

If Rick is correct in his assumption of it being a Molotov Cocktail, That is a 'BOMB' a fire bomb... but still a bomb.

I was at the club just now.. Looks to me like a Molotov Cocktail was thrown at the front window. The entire area that was in flames is about one foot wide.. Looks like arson to me, can't imagine what else it could be.. There isn't any internal damage to the building at all.. The night club wasn't even open last night.. Even if the fire had tried to spread they have sprinkler systems that would have doused it immediately.

The building is safe and will be open for business tonight, they are replacing the glass as we speak and cleaning up the mess.

The owner said he would call me if he finds out what caused it..

I should have said the first time, the second time they will be gone.. That ok?

Right off hand I see one problem with this. We have some members that are pretty good friends with eachother. They may find themselves calling eachother names knowing that the other will let them back. Then this type of namecalling can rub off on others. That is my two cents.  :-\

Acording to mark he had directed it at a moderator, or should I say someone he assumed was a moderator. I find this out today. Doesn't make it ok by any means.. If one of you are called a name in the future I will ban the person, and ask that persons victim if they'd like you back again. I am thinking that may be the best way to handle things. Here's your chance to chime in..

This whole thing just proves again, "Be careful what you say.." I too have sliped up slightly in my wording, just fortunate it wasn't a really bad slip.. This board has taught me much, and I thank Mike Dunbar for all his free advice 8.5 years ago regarding the issues involved here. Some of you may think I overrreact sometimes, but believe me, it probably leans too far toward undereact many times..

This may shock you but I have been known to not care what anyone thinks. LOL. That idea has been retired somewhat.. Sometimes I think you all forget what a pain in the rump this boards responsibility can be some days.

Everyone... I am not an administrator here and I am deliberately not saying anything until after the decision was made to return Mark to posting status. I am aware of what Mark said -- Rick wanted me to be aware of what the post contained before I found out about it through rumors or a phone call -- and the allegation made by Mark was of an extremely serious nature. If false, it would have met the legal definition of libel. If true ... well, let's just all be glad Mark apologized.

Rick is not overreacting. Failure to take action could have created significant legal problems. Mark has apologized and it's entirely up to Rick and the other administrators what they do with that apology; my own opinion, based on many years of lawsuit threats, might be a little more severe than theirs was. But again, it's up to them and I don't get a vote, nor do I want one.

What I do want to do is defend Rick's decision.

Rick is in the opinion board business. I'm not. The Pulaski County Daily news website software has an option to enable comments on articles; Rick proposed that he set the site up to redirect "opinions on articles" to this website instead. I was more than happy to accept his suggestion. It's situations like this one that make me very glad I'm in the news business and don't have to deal with the headaches of moderating an opinion board.

Digital says ok, but, last chance, he calls one more person a name he's gone.. Eeyores tied up with funeral, so I will remove his ban, when she comes back she has the option to reinstate it, and or place terms on it.

I did that two years ago. Not sure but I think almost every ban is fror advertizing their buisness over and over..

I am leaving this up to admins because it was an attack on admins.. No one specific admin..

Don't feel bad, I was banned on another site, on an account THEY had set up in my name.. LOL.. There are bad admins everywhere.. LOL

.
I thought Rick did do blanket amnesty before, and as far as I knew Mark was the only one banned since then. I wouldn't necessarily know if there were others, tho, unless someone posted about them. Anyway, glad to see you this evening. Sorry the movie disappointed you. But somehow good books just don't live up to themselves on the screen. Probably because what we see in our minds while reading the book can never be replicated on the screen.

Local News / Re: New sex scandals at Ft. Wood
« on: November 23, 2008, 12:48:54 AM »
A local judge asked me if you were going to do the courts stuff. He wanted to see it here.

Before this turns into a discussion of why the out-of-town media are covering this story and the local media aren't, I've been aware for years of the increase in courts-martial for drill sergeant sex offenses with trainees, but there was no possible way I could cover that story due to time problems. And it is a personal embarrassment that stories like this have to be covered by out-of-town media when I know what's going on but can't do anything about it.

While working at the Daily Guide, due to layout and other office duties, covering courts-martial or even most civilian trials was simply out of the question except for the very most serious items such as murders. And even then, it created major problems to be out of cell phone contact and unable to cover routine government meetings and breaking fires, accidents, etc.,  for the amount of time required to cover a court trial. Sitting in a courtroom for hours on end for two or three days until well into the evening -- with no access to a computer or a phone -- simply could not happen.

One factor in my decision to leave the Daily Guide was the fact that due to lack of staff, things had gotten so bad that I couldn't even cover a major civilian murder case this year. I also had to cancel long-planned interviews with the commanding general -- TWICE -- because of stuff totally beyond my control caused by failure of people outside the Daily Guide's staff to give me things I needed to do certain parts of my job in advance. (No, I'm not going to be any more specific; the Rolla publisher knows exactly what happened and repeatedly told me the problem would get fixed.)

I wish the new Rolla Daily News publisher well. He's saying the right things about buying the equipment and hiring the personnel needed to run the newspaper the way it should be run. I believe he's sincere in his efforts and he seems to have permission from corporate to do things Joel Goodridge was never allowed to do. But I do know that regardless of what the Daily Guide does, I intend to be doing the kind of court and police coverage that I've done for most of my career but has been impossible for many years at the Daily Guide due to lack of staff that forced reporters to do many things that have very little to do with their primary duties.

He didn't specify which admistrator he was refering to.

Does it have to be unaminious or doesnt majority rule? If we had to have unaminious agreement in government nothing would get done.
Just a thought

LOL.
He wasn't banned for calling me Saskatchawatch.
Real funny..

I have been friends with Mark since I moved to Missouri and he and I are alot alike being retired and enjoy fishing camping bar hopping and playing guitar etc etc so we get along good. I know he is set in his ways and engages mouth before thinking sometime but all in all he really is a standup guy that would help anyone anytine. Therefore with that said I have a message from Mark. Im NOT involved and dont wanna get involved but I said Id pass the message so here goes.

He is really sorry and apologizes to to all administrators he offended and to Rick he apologizes for calling you Saskatchawatch. And he admits he was alone on the patio at the Elbow and Terry walked out and there happened to be a cloud of smoke that kinda smelled funny.

I for one vote give him another chance for apologizing publicly

Things that make you go HMMMM / Bob Carsons Four Corners
« on: November 21, 2008, 02:51:45 PM »
I was just telling Sherri when I was a kid we have a house of ill repute called 4 Corners where St. Robert Glass is now.. The had gun fights there etc.. From recollection there were cars on Missouri Avenue hit with bullets in the gun fight between the black pimps from St. Louis and the Local 4 Corners owner Bob Carson and his men.

Well, the funny part was when we were kids we called the place and asked how much for some sex, and they replied, sir we rent BBQ grills and sell charcoal. So that's how we first learned of what exactly it was they did there.. Or so they said.. LOL

I won 1000.00 in Vegas on a Wheeel Of Fortune slot, at Excaliber..

HONOLULU A 24-year-old woman, on her first trip to Las Vegas, is worrying less about the nation's economy. That's because Jessica Agbunag won $2.4 million on Wednesday at a Wheel of Fortune slot machine at the California Hotel and Casino.
Agbunag, a baby sitter who graduated high school in 2002, was in Las Vegas with her boyfriend and family in remembrance of her grandmother's birthday. Her grandmother was a frequent visitor to Las Vegas who loved slot machines.
The Wheel of Fortune machines were good to Agbunag.
She twice won much smaller amounts earlier this week at the same casino.
But on Wednesday, she inserted $16 into a Mega-Jackpot machine and it hit big. She said she plans to pay off a car and give some money to relatives.

Yahoo has released the beta version of a new service called Yahoo Glue. What Yahoo Glue does is piece together results from different popular sites and bring them to you on one page. For example, a search for an NFL team will bring up results from Wikipedia, Yahoo Sports (including stats, rosters, schedules, etc), YouTube, Yahoo Maps, Yelp, Flickr, Yahoo Groups, and Yahoo Answers.
