In a sweep of a residence and a storage locker, the Waynesville Police Department seized almost $500,000 in cash, drugs, drug paraphernalia and weapons on Monday and Tuesday.

On July 16, the Waynesville Police Department were able to obtain a search warrant for a residence located within the city limits of Waynesville and at 7:30 p.m. that night, the Waynesville Special Reaction Team entered the residence.

According to the probable cause statement, while conducting the search of the house the WSRT seized 116 grams of methamphetamine, two electronic digital scales, a plastic bag containing small plastic bags used for distribution, a bank bag, six switch blade knives, a stiletto knife and PVC tubing that contained rolled and labeled cash. All total Waynesville Police seized $100,000 in cash and assets.

The residence also was equipped with inside and outside electronic surveillance equipment, including working cameras.

Information was also obtained that led Waynesville Police to obtain a search warrant for a storage locker in Laclede County. With the help of the Laclede County Sheriff's Office, Lebanon Police Department and Lake Area Narcotics Enforcement Group, Waynesville Police were able to seize $374,000 in cash, $32,000 of it was in a sealed PVC pipe, a .38 caliber handgun, several glass smoking devices and 4-5 ounces of crystal methamphetamine.

The suspects, Bruce and Rendy Conant are currently being held in the Pulaski County Jail on $100,000 cash bonds.

The Conant's have been charged with trafficking in drugs/attempt to traffic in drugs- 2nd Degree/ > or = to 450 grams- ecstasy/(meth) amphetamine and keeping or maintaining a public nuisance.

Both counts are felonies in the state of Missouri and carry sentences ranging from five to 30 years

State News / Highway Workers Now Protected Under 'Move Over' Law
« on: July 21, 2012, 02:47:42 PM »
Highway Workers Now Protected Under 'Move Over' Law   JEFFERSON CITY, MO - For the Missouri Department of Transportation employees who spend their days on state highways, work just got a little safer.

Governor Jay Nixon signed Senate Bill 611 into law on Monday, July 9, which expands the 2002 "Slow Down and Move Over" law that protects law enforcement and emergency response vehicles parked on the side of the road.

The new law, which takes effect Aug. 28, requires motorists to slow down or change lanes when approaching these vehicles, and now also includes MoDOT vehicles parked with amber and white lights flashing.

"We are committed to the safety of all Missourians and our MoDOT workforce," said MoDOT Director Kevin Keith. "I am grateful to the Governor and Missouri Legislature for recognizing the importance of protecting MoDOT workers in the same way as the Highway Patrol and other emergency responders."

According to Keith, with the drastic drop in MoDOT's construction budget, the department is virtually in a maintenance-only mode. That makes the work MoDOT maintenance forces perform more important than ever as the department attempts to take care of Missouri's existing system of highways and bridges.

"About 2,400 MoDOT employees work on Missouri highways every day, often in high-volume traffic," said MoDOT State Maintenance Engineer Beth Wright. "Their number-one priority is to work safely, and we appreciate every effort to help get them home safely every day."

Passage of the law was the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission's highest priority during the 2012 legislative session. Since 2000, four MoDOT employees have been killed on the job. Coincidentally, MoDOT and the Transportation Employees Association of Missouri will dedicate a new memorial for fallen MoDOT workers at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, July 16. The memorial is located on the Capitol grounds, near MoDOT's Central Office building in Jefferson City. The memorial is a tribute to the 128 employees who have been killed in the line of duty since 1946, and was completely funded with private donations.

County Government Opinion / Re: 2012 Sheriff's Office Election
« on: July 09, 2012, 03:25:26 PM »
Personally I know Ron Long the best because I graduated high school with him. That makes it easier for me, but, because of knowing him so well it makes it easy for me to put my full support behind him. I can assure you Ron will do the best he can, he is a no bullshit guy, and he won't embarrass the county like a JT would.. I don't live there anymore nor can vote there, but sure do have some friends I can sway there..

Ron I will say I am a bit dissapointed you'd be worried that you could come under fire on here. JB has taken all the heat and came out smelling just fine so to speak (OK I never stood that close to him.).. That is the kinda guy we need, not afraid to take the heat, after all they do work for us, and your employers want answers..

This format here has worked good for David Day also.. Your new representative candidates are above talking to us so far.. That's bad in my eyes.. Just makes me think if they won't come here they must have something to hide.. Right now my votes for Twila Cordry, although I think because of the heavy rotation of Lynchs Furniture ads on thee radio his name recognitions pretty darn high.

Is this a trap? Do you know of a candidate who shoped elsewhere?

This question is for the Sheriff candidates.

My question is: Would you use a out-of-county business over a locally owned business just to save a very few $?

I think this a valid support question, the support of local businesses that pay taxes here in Pulaski County vs non-county businesses that do not pay taxes here.

Yes, this is directly tied to my comments here: http://pulaskicountyweb.com/smf/index.php?topic=69.1350 but is a valid issue for all Pulaski County businesses.

Darrell Todd Maurina  ‎Luge Hardman, just a caution -- if you were an employee of a governmental agency where an elected official was doing the things that were alleged in the St. Robert case (and I am **NOT** taking sides in the St. Robert case, but let's say f...or a moment that a hypothetical elected official **WAS** doing the things alleged), you would not be happy if the spouse and children of the person who abused you said, "This is my parent/spouse, he/she is a good person."

On the contrary, you would want justice, and you would be right to demand justice.

The issue is not whether family members get hurt but whether people did bad things worthy of punishment. Lots of people in prison, or who have been thrown out of office by voters or by court action, have family members who got hurt by their conviction or defeat. A much greater injustice would be to say, "Let's not give these employees the justice they deserve because we like the elected official and his wife and family."See More Yesterday at 9:09pm ∑ Edited ∑ UnlikeLike ∑ 2

  • Darrell Todd Maurina  ‎@ Kevin Bryan Williams -- Kevin, I'm not sure which person here you were referring to, but I've sat across the table from your father in many meetings every month, sometimes several times in a single week, for more than half a decade since... I came back to the Fort Leonard Wood area in 2004. The same is true for Mayor George Sanders. Do you know Alderman Williams better than me? Do Mayor Sanders' family members know him better than me? Obviously -- he's your dad. But I do know how Mayor Sanders and Alderman Williams handle themselves in government. I do not have a problem with either of those two men, but in saying that, I am not taking and I will not take sides in the St. Robert fight.

I'm going... to request that comments here focus on the actions or inactions of elected officials, senior administrative staff, or people whose names were cited in the public testimony in this case. While some of the others involved in this are legally considered "public figures," I see little benefit to discussing people at a lower level of city government, or their relatives. 'Rick Lepard is quite right that liberty exists when people feel free to criticize their government without fear of reprisal, but I believe this discussion has moved beyond criticism of people who have the ability to change policies.See More about an hour ago ∑ LikeUnlike ∑ 1

But I know the truth.....they were slick about it I'll give em that but that don't make it right. I can name four people who lost their jobs or were ...transferred because Pam Cox wanted them to be. I can name one that Clark tried like hell to get rid of because of her issues with Pam Cox but she was protected due to being in the service . Both Williams and Sanders were right there and knew exactly what was going on and helped (Williams little covert "job survey") Now is that the way you would treat good employees? •     'Rick Lepard I think it is completely insane that we are having an impeachment hearing over how a Mayor handled an employee problem. The City Council and Attorney are making fools of themselves. 25 minutes ago ∑ LikeUnlike ∑ 2
  • Jeff Teeters That is your opinion. I myself hold a different opinion. I agree it should've never come this far. I honestly believe that. Something should've been done a long time ago. Again just my opinion, and I'm sure as it has many times my discipline as well as my Fire Department brothers and sisters, will be questioned. That's ok too though 21 minutes ago via mobile ∑ LikeUnlike

  • Jeff Teeters It does look ridiculous I agree. But from where I sit, something should've been done long before, and it wasn't. It COULD'VE been handled, but it wasn't. It was swept under the rug. That isn't acceptable 11 minutes ago via mobile ∑ LikeUnlike ∑ 1
