State News / Drug testing for welfare folks
« on: January 18, 2011, 01:22:57 PM »
Missouri House leaders are considering a bill that would require drug testing for people who receive cash welfare payments. What do you think about this?

It is about time..

Sneak Peek Sheriff's View / Re: Sneak Peek Sheriff's View

Agreed and usually someone who did'nt like getting caught..

Maybe I should mention that I do have one hidden advantage. There are hundreds of people who read this board every day but who never post a comment. They are not shy people and frequently stop me out in the real world to sound off on something and the over whelming vote of these people is that I am doing a great job. So who gets to me the best; the citizen who stops me in person and tells me good stuff or some body hiding behind a made up name on a chat board who wants to snipe at me.

I suspect you will not have to work very hard at your guess.

I just heard protesters are handing out flyers at Walmart Rolla. That is exactly, and all I know.

LOL. You forget, they flip coins for the job of mayor there.

My son got a speeding ticket in Waynesville and for a Christmas present my husband and I went to pay it, yesterday. We were told if we would pay them $195 we could keep the $45 ticket of his record so our insurance rates wouldn't go up. So I can pay off the city. Are you kidding me?

Because we always knew a liquor store that stayed open past closing time.. Lawless days, good times. LOL

There was always free beer

So angry Chas, what's up? LOL

Since when does someone punching someone in the face  become a serious crime? Maybe the other woman deserved it.    Cops use to be able to exercise a little sense now it is arrest everyone for everything. I miss the days when not every little thing was crime.   I’m glad she wasn’t held over for custody, and hope she never is there are bigger fish to fry.  And no I don’t people involved.

Military Opinion / Re: DADT has been repealed
« on: December 20, 2010, 06:34:17 PM »
I do, however, know for a fact that Chas loves Midgets.

Just because you guys hate gay people, you think that means all other standards have to change, you not that is not true. They will have to follow orders like everyone else. Not all things are equal there will still be standards.  Would hate to see the republicans hold up the DOD budget because the military finally has to act like the rest of the country when it comes to discrimination laws. If they do, it shows the true colors of republican.  True haters of America and the constitution.  The law was passed; most Americans believe it is ok for gay people to serve.   Check the latest polls.   So it will be ok for the Republicans to overturn the law because they hate gay people.  Nice very American.  There is no reason that gay people can’t serve they do it in over 25 countries.  We don’t allow it because we have people like DTM that hate gay people.  You say you don’t but all anyone has to do is read your posts you and Fish ought to be men and just admit instead of trying to act as if you don’t. You guys have never given one good reason why they should and I know why you haven’t, because you can’t.  You hate gay people fine just admit it, cowards. I would have more respect for you and even defend your stance to hate them.  I have said I don’t care for the lifestyle I can’t stand to be around flamers. It bothers me and I don’t think those types will be standing in line to the military anyway. But I do know some really good people that are gay and a couple of them I consider friends.  One of them is ex- military she got out after her time so she could live the life she wanted. (I told her she is the only woman I every truly understood)  I know that I will not become gay by association, that they are American citizens and deserve all the rights that come with being American.

Local News / Dixon Woman Cashes In On Feeling
« on: December 20, 2010, 06:21:07 PM »
It’ll be a good Christmas for one Dixon family.  While doing some grocery shopping for her mother on Nov. 28, Heather Wagoner “got a feeling” and decided to spend $5 on Missouri Lottery Scratchers tickets.  One of the $2 “Frosty Fortune” Scratchers tickets she bought at Country Mart, 508 E. Fifth Street in Dixon, turned out to be a $10,000 winner.

“(The) feeling hit me, and I walked out the door.  I had a $5 bill in my hand.  I put it in the machine and bought $5 worth of tickets and won!” exclaimed Wagoner.

“I play a lot, but only when the feeling hits me, and then I win,” she continued.

Wagoner hedged somewhat, explaining that the most she had won in the past was $100.  When she discovered the $10,000 prize while sitting in the parking lot, it registered as her largest win to date.

“It was exciting,” she recounted.  “I couldn’t even hardly drive, I was shaking so bad.”

Wagoner, 39, was accompanied to Jefferson City by her daughter, Shanna, and a friend, April, to collect the prize on Nov. 29.  Shanna was excited about potential Christmas presents she and her brother, Ethan, might receive.

“I’m going to buy Christmas for my kids,” Wagoner said.  “They’re going to get new guns and new boots.”  She added that she would buy new eyeglasses for herself.  A large part of the prize money will go toward paying bills.

“I usually don’t spend money on tickets unless I got a feeling.  I can’t explain it.  And when I have that feeling, I’ll put it in.  Especially at times when I really need money, that’s when it comes through,” Wagoner explained.

Wagoner said she’ll continue to play the Lottery.  She has been saving her non-winning tickets for the Missouri Lottery “Hi-Tech Holiday” second-chance promotion.

“It’s luck of the draw, I mean really, whether you have a feeling or not.  I just happened to be in the right place at the right time.  If I hadn’t had to go to the grocery store for my mom, I probably wouldn’t have won,” Wagoner suggested.

She added that her mom would get a nice Christmas gift as well.

Local News / Fort Leonard Wood Man's Numbers Come Through, Again
« on: December 20, 2010, 06:17:58 PM »
The lucky number is eight for a Fort Leonard Wood man, who won a total of $4,050 on eight Missouri Lottery Pick 3 tickets.  Gene Blount, 39, was “in shock that the numbers came through” in the Dec. 12 drawing.  He said the random numbers – 2, 7 and 9 – came to him moments before he bought the tickets.

“This is the second time this year that I’ve been here to collect a nice check from you guys,” said Blount, who won a $4,300 Pick 3 prize last spring.

As for plans for the prize money, Blount’s nieces and nephews will be reaping the benefits.

“It’s Christmas, so it’s going to be going to Christmas presents for the family,” he added.

Blount purchased the winning Pick 3 tickets at Mobil on the Run, 122 St. Roberts Blvd., in St. Robert.

Rolla Police Department

I also wanted to let you all know that Mayor Bill Jenks arrived on the barricade scene in the early AM, around four or so, he went and bought coffee on his own and assisted in passing it to the officers, as it was a very cold night to be out. Mayor Jenks was there when tough decisions had to be made and was a tremend...ous support throughout. Thank you Mayor Jenks! This does not happen in every community and it does help the troops in knowing the city is behind us. Chief Kearse

I wanted to say that it was unfortunate that the barricade incident which started at approximately 2 am and ended for most of us at 9:30 am, was also at the time we were to be at Shop with a Cop, so RPD had a very small turn out at the event. We were only able to send a handful of officers, but I heard it was still a ...great event and turn out from the PCSD, MSHP and other local agency’s made it a great successes. This is an outstanding event that the PCSD does every year. Chief Kearse

Local News / Re: Rolla Standoff
« on: December 18, 2010, 05:27:18 PM »
On 12/18/2010 at approximately 2:27 AM the Rolla Police Department received a 911 call at a residence in the 300 block of North Oak Street. Upon arrival officers contacted a 53 year old white male who was agitated about a previous situation. As officers were not able to accommodate his requests, he became increasingl...y agitated and would not cooperate with officers on the scene. Eventually he made threats to law enforcement officers on the scene and a barricade situation ensued.

The Rolla Police Department SWAT Team was called to the scene and a perimeter was established. As a precautionary measure area neighbors were contacted and were encouraged to evacuate their residences. The suspect, believed to be deranged, began making threats to shoot officers and threats that he had a bomb in the residence that he would detonate. On several different occasions the resident exited the house and fired numerous rounds from a handgun into his front yard area as well as holding his gun to his head.

After a 6 hour negotiation session and repeated deployed volleys of tear gas, the suspect surrendered at approximately 8:38 AM and was taken into custody. Arrested was James Robert Fazzio age 53 of Rolla. Fazzio was arrested for making a terroristic threat, unlawful use of a weapon, and armed criminal action.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol's Bomb Squad has cleared the house and at this time it is believed that there are no explosive devices present.

The Rolla Police Department requested and received assistance from Phelps County Sheriff’s Department Deputies, Missouri S&T Police, St. Robert Police Department SWAT Team, Pulaski County Sheriff's Department SWAT Team, Troopers from the Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop I, the Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop F SWAT Team, Missouri State Highway Patrol Bomb Squad, Phelps County Ambulance and Rolla City Fire Department.

The charges for which James Robert Fazzio was arrested are merely accusations and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
