  • Valor7: What I tried to say is that the actual money would not be there that quick. But a loan against that would work if they are willing to do that.

  • Lepard LLC: Why so long before it comes online? 911 took out a loan or bond with the known guarantee payment and began building..

  • Valor7: Actually no it is not, a dependable Revenue stream will not come on line until the 4th quarter of 2017 so 2018 budget will be up in the air, not quite sure what they will have. By 2019 budget all will be well.

  • Valor7: You mean that tax that the Commissioners would not put on the ballot for so many years? Strange things happened when the citizens got a chance to vote on that issue.

  • Valor7: I could have worded that better, we talked details, options, the pros and cons of each, in  order to arrive at the best ballot language to present to the voters. Hope that makes this clearer.

  • Valor7: Yes and no. We talked details and options until we were blue in the face but I never heardbring it over, it was always the time was not right for the issue to pass. Glad to see the time in now right and I for one shall vote yes on the ballot. I would urge all others to do the sameour county is busting at the seams crimewise and no matter how many bad guys we send off there always seems to someone to replace them. The Sheriff's Office needs the help.

  • Lepard LLC: Gene Newkirk Rick I have waited for a Sheriff to bring it to me on what he wanted. I have pushed Mr long for a while to get it to me. He told me he was close to having or done. Now hopefully the people will get to decide on it. I spoke with Steve about this a few times.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo -- Crews will be working late into the night trying to make sure the roads stay safe and clear for drivers.

The city is working on primary and secondary roads. MoDOT is taking care of major highways and hoping to reach into some rural areas.

Before the storm made its way into the Springfield metro area, MoDOT crews were already hitting the streets, hoping to stay ahead of the game.

"With icy conditions like this, it's very difficult to stay ahead of it.  You put a treatment down, it will get washed away by the rain. To stay head of it is a full time job," said Bob Becker, with MoDOT.

That's why all hands are on deck.  Dealing with ice costs more time and money than snow.

"It will take a truck, depending on the exact length of his route, it could take him an hour to do one route.  So by the time they are done with that they go over it again to see if it's still icy, if it is they drop more material on it," said Ron Bailey, with Springfield Public Works.

Springfield City Utilities leaders do not expect any massive power outages.

"When you start talking about freezing rain it starts to make everyone cringe alittle more than it used to since 2007. The system is strong and in place.  When we start talking about a tenth of an inch of ice, if it builds up to that, that's easily something the infrastructure can take.  We go up to about half inch of ice maybe.   With what's coming at us this weekend, we feel everything is going to be just fine," said Joel Alexander with Springfield City Utilities.

MoDOT managers encourage folks to stay home. If you have to leave, use caution. Officials add if you see one of their trucks while on the road please be respectful and give them some space.

On Saturday morning, parking lots, sidewalks, and driveways are expected be slick.
