  • Valor7: What I tried to say is that the actual money would not be there that quick. But a loan against that would work if they are willing to do that.

  • Lepard LLC: Why so long before it comes online? 911 took out a loan or bond with the known guarantee payment and began building..

  • Valor7: Actually no it is not, a dependable Revenue stream will not come on line until the 4th quarter of 2017 so 2018 budget will be up in the air, not quite sure what they will have. By 2019 budget all will be well.

  • Valor7: You mean that tax that the Commissioners would not put on the ballot for so many years? Strange things happened when the citizens got a chance to vote on that issue.

  • Valor7: I could have worded that better, we talked details, options, the pros and cons of each, in  order to arrive at the best ballot language to present to the voters. Hope that makes this clearer.

  • Valor7: sorry about the typos still working with just one arm in action
    April 13, 2016, 01:10:42 PM
  • Valor7: Yes and no. We talked details and options until we were blue in the face but I never heardbring it over, it was always the time was not right for the issue to pass. Glad to see the time in now right and I for one shall vote yes on the ballot. I would urge all others to do the sameour county is busting at the seams crimewise and no matter how many bad guys we send off there always seems to someone to replace them. The Sheriff's Office needs the help.

  • Lepard LLC: Gene Newkirk Rick I have waited for a Sheriff to bring it to me on what he wanted. I have pushed Mr long for a while to get it to me. He told me he was close to having or done. Now hopefully the people will get to decide on it. I spoke with Steve about this a few times.

Can someone please explain this ?

Please don't burn me at the stake...but as you might tell from my avatar...I am a Boston Red Sox fan.

When hubby and I decided to make the move from Cable TV to Satellite...the deciding factor for me ( he HATES sports ) was the availability of the Sports Pack on Direct TV. Dish Network did not appear to have that as a subscription option.

Now...like I said...I can understand why a professional sports team would want a telecast blackout of Home games within a certain radius of the stadium...after all...the team makes money from paid attendance.

But....last night for example....I wanted to watch the Red Sox-Athletics game on NESN ( New England Sports Network )....got a box on my screen that said " Channel Not Purchased " ...not " Not Available" or "Event Blackout"..but "NOT PURCHASED".

Needless to say, this didn't exactly make me a happy camper.

I scrolled through the listings of the Fox Sports Channels...same thing...until I got to the Fox channels that carry the Cardinals and Royals games. Both we at Home last night....both channels...open broadcast.

Now...go figure.....I am approximately 1443.5 miles from Fenway Park....Busch Stadium and Kaufmann Field are  about 3 and 4 hours respectively from my house. So...why were the Cardinals and Royals games not on blackout....but I could not watch the Red Sox, Marlins, Detroit , Houston OR Seattle games ? Chances of me noting that a Red Sox game has tickets available....hopping into my van...driving to St Louis airport...catching a flight to Boston...taking a cab from Logan airport to Fenway Park and settling in the stadium in time to catch the first pitch....not gonna happen....just not possible.

Just don't comprehend this at all.....and my feeling is that if I have paid for a satellite channel and my zip code is well beyond that of the broadcast blackout zone...I should be able to watch that channel.

So...those of you who know more about this....can you help educate me ?

I went round and round with dish a few weeks ago, when, for whatever reason, TBS was to air the Cardinal game. I can watch TBS all day long, but they had me blacked out for that game. I was ticked!
I have it on good authority that the Hokey-Pokey really IS what it's all about.
