From the article.
[King publicly criticized Roberts in an internet discussion group for throwing rocks at his wife while campaigning at the Dixon polling place on election day, but King said once a letter-to-the-editor on the subject was printed in the Waynesville Daily Guide, his wife asked to drop the issue.

展e have serious issues facing this county, and we池e talking about who threw rocks at my wife, King said.]

Now I can't vote for either of them. I can't vote for a man that hits another man's wife with rocks, and I certainly can't vote for a husband that didn't kick the "poop" out of said man. If anyone hits my mom with a rock, they would be peeling my dad off that guy in the ambulance. Times have changed, so they could probably just ask me to stop. I would get a few more kicks in, but it wouldn't take them peeling me off.

That wouldn't prove anything though.  JB's wife knows he cares and how mad that it made him. That's really all that matters.

I wasn't saying it proves he doesn't care or love her. In fact, it proves he has remarkable restraint. Which I might add, is an important trait for sherriffs to have. I am just saying, that he isn't someone I can relate to. When it comes to my lady's physical well being, I have "anger management" issues. If that is what you choose to call it.

I understand that but the last time my bf fought for his family's honor he was stabbed. Ever since then I don't want him to defend me or Brooklyn that way. That doesn't mean he will listen. :)

I understand where you are coming from, but the following saying is cliche for a reason. A man has got to do what a mans got to do. In my family, defending our women is something we "have" to do, whether or not our women want us to. We can be persuaded not to "screw" someone up for saying stuff about our family, but there is no way we could let a thing like getting hit by a rock go. We don't have that kind of restraint.

I applaud the restraint JB showed.

It can't have been easy to hold back from doing what a civilian wouldn't think twice about, but the idea that it was orchestrated to provoke a response by JB crossed my mind.  It wouldn't surprise me if there was at least one person with a video camera rolling or ready to roll if JB responded like some think he should.

I also applaud his restraint, after all, you have to consider he is the Sheriff, a public figure.  Would you be likely to vote to re-elect a sheriff that had been involved in a street fight? and could you imagine how he would have felt if he had gotten arrested?  Very good restraint and self control is what that shows me.
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Remember that no matter how bad things are in your life, there are others dealing with much worse obstacles, and be thankful for what you have.

He certainly does have restraint, but I think people would respect him for whooping that guys "butt". I would have torn that guy a new one, and then turned myself in. I think people could respect that as well. If a person deserves to get their "butt" kicked, they deserve it. It doesn't matter who it is that is doing it. If someone hits Laura Bush with a rock, I expect G. W. to whoop some "butt". The secret service should make sure the man doesn't get away, and then let G.W. put it to him. Some fights are necessary, regardless of the consequences. A rock hitting my wife is one of those fights.

That is what's wrong with this world today....where is it written that you "have" to fight?  What is the point in stooping to the other person's level.  To walk away shows professionalism and maturity.  We definitely don't need two sheriff candidates fist fighting.  Sheriff King showed that he is the bigger man by walking away from a childish stunt, and I'm sure his wife was pleased that her husband was not involved in a brawl.

More people need to follow his lead and he would have a much easier job these days......

This whole thread reminds me of that Kenny Rogers song... What was it??  I can hear the words in my head (yes, the voices have erupted in song this morning) but can't remember the name of the song...

I agree that many situations don't require a fight, but fighting isn't always wrong. Some situations absolutely require it. The wife getting hit by a rock is debatable, but some situations are not. Imagine you are out camping with your family. You and your husband take a hike and leave your teenage children back at the site. If you return to a man beating your teenage daughter, what do you expect your husband to do? Would you still consider it wrong for him to fight? Does it still take a bigger man to walk away?

If something like that were to happen nobody would have to worry about my hubby kicking butt because I can take care of it myself. But I don't have a daughter and most anyone who has seen my son doesn't want to mess with him he is far from being to little to defend himself lol. But fighting still isn't right. And my husband also knows if someone has something against me they can take it up with me because I for one can take care of fights all on my own.

The bigger man did the right thing.

The pathetic excuse for a former sheriff and his even more pathetic supporter should grow up.

Ya know, just compare records, look at who sued the county, look at who locked dispatch out of the building, look at who was forced to resign from the Highway Patrol, and who has the stupid county navy fleet, then make a decision. Oh, and about suing the county, he did keep that promise. He said in public I will break this county, and he did.

I have read a large number of allegations about Roberts i.e forced to resign, lieing about solving crime, etc.  I know about the boat and I know about the law suit.  I would like some FACTS about those two others.  Can someone produce facts about the whole forced to resign thing.  I even get the lieing about solving crime, based on Sheriff Kings letter I am guessing there are three murders that were not solved.

A valid question I think though is  "Why no (or very few)  meth labs under Sheriff King?

Meth production is down because law makers made it hard to get the ingredients, and Mexico imports are up. That's it..

Let's face it our law makers are experts at moving industry abroad.. LOL
