OUr guns are not about hunting nor is there such a thing as a gunshow loop hole.  I have already given discourse on the assault weapons ban.  The way they want to do this, will include such "assault weapons" as the Ruger 10-22.  they don't even know the definition of the term.  This letter is a canned response to questions posed to her about guns.

Thank you for contacting me regarding gun safety. I appreciate hearing from you, and I welcome the chance to respond.

Over the past year, a number of tragic shootings have occurred throughout the nation. As these incidents refocus national attention on the gun safety debate, we should strive to achieve common ground on the issue and we must take great care not to politicize the suffering of others.

Protecting innocent victims while at the same time protecting the gun ownership rights of law-abiding citizens is obviously still a work in progress. As a former prosecutor, I think we must do a better job on background checks for court-determined, dangerous mental conditions at the time of all gun sales. Also, I think we should consider placing certain restrictions on assault weapons and closing the gun show loophole. However, it is important that any attempt to promote appropriate gun safety measures must not infringe upon law-abiding citizens’ right to own firearms or unduly burden the hunting and sportsmanship culture of Missouri. As your United States Senator, I will be sure to keep your thoughts in mind anytime Congress considers gun safety legislation.

Again, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with me. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future regarding other matters of interest or concern to you.

All best,
Senator Claire McCaskill

I "don't have a dog in this fight" about guns.  But I agree she needs to go for other reasons.
When I was young, I wanted to be older.  This is not what I expected!

Claire does not agree we should be able to BEAR arms  she believes we should only have them to hunt or target shoot.  Read her canned letter carefully.  There is no such thing as a gun show loophole and she still wants the AWB, which I totally disagree wtih.  She would not know a real Assault Weapon if she saw it.  She, like Nobama want to completely sotp any and all private sales of firearms between individuals.  She wants REGISTRATION which equals CONFISCATION down the line.  She also states Unduly Burden.  Is there something about Shall Not Be Infringed, she does not understand?  The 2d Amendment is NOT about hunting.  It is about fighting tyranny and protecting ourselves from criminals as well those in government who would abuse us.  She would prefer only the Elite keep guns to protect themselves form the common peons.

The Second Amendment, as passed by the House and Senate, reads:

“ A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

Infringed = violated.  It's very simple to me.  It's my right to own any types and numbers of guns.

How many tyrants have you fought?

Shouldn't you turn in your guns if the answer is zero?

Your right to bear arms isn't intrinsically protected by the constitution. Our founders could have absolutely protected the second amendment, but they chose not to. This should be kept in mind when debating whether or not the second amendment applies to all weapons.

Article V
"The Congress, whenever two thirds of both Houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose Amendments to this Constitution, or, on the Application of the Legislatures of two thirds of the several States, shall call a Convention for proposing Amendments, which in either Case, shall be valid to all Intents and Purposes, as Part of this Constitution, when ratified by the Legislatures of three fourths of the several States or by Conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other Mode of Ratification may be proposed by the Congress; Provided that no Amendment which may be made prior to the Year One thousand eight hundred and eight shall in any Manner affect the first and fourth Clauses in the Ninth Section of the first Article; and that no State, without its Consent, shall be deprived of its equal Suffrage in the Senate."

The 2d Amendment ENUMERATED  a God-Given right.  I am aware of the Article.  I have a God-Given right to protect me and mine.  I will not turn in my guns nor will I sell them.  As for tyrants.  they have a difficult time rearing their heads when CITIZENS are armed.
