Well Biden fianlly came out and told us why he got upset with that News Anchor.
First he compares Obama to Jefferson, a founding father and perhaps not a Christian.  Then there is Lincoln the tyrant who DID suspend the Consitution and WAS a tyrant who abrogated States Rights.  Then to Roosevelt who sold this country to the World Bank.  At least Kennedy didn't completely give away this nation, if at all.

Joe Biden on Monday compared Barack Obama to Thomas Jefferson, John F. Kennedy, Abraham Lincoln and Franklin Roosevelt, and he said a less savory comparison to Karl Marx is completely off the mark.
Biden, whose comments on Marx referenced an uncomfortable interview with a Florida anchorwoman last week, stressed that his Obama is a genuine force for change.  As proof, Democratic vice presidential candidate pointed to the kind of attacks that have historically been directed at new leaders with new ideas.
"The defenders of the status quo have always tried to tear down those who would change our nation for the better," Biden said. "They said Thomas Jefferson wasn't ... a real Christian. That was the essence of the campaign against him. Well, does that sound familiar?" he said.
"Ladies and gentlemen, they said Abraham Lincoln ... wanted to take away individual rights. Ladies and gentlemen, they said Franklin Roosevelt would destroy the American system of life. Sound familiar? And ladies and gentlemen, they said that John F. Kennedy was, quote, 'a dangerous choice in difficult times.' ... Sound familiar?"
The Delaware senator spoke to a crowd in Greenville, N.C., as the Democratic ticket begins to make its closing argument in the presidential race.
Biden said the attacks are "built on lies which are the last resort of those who have nothing new to offer. And that's where we find ourselves."
Biden attempted to shore up his point by mentioning the interview he gave with Orlando-based WFTV on Thursday. Anchorwoman Barbara West quoted Marx and asked Biden how Obama's claim that he wants to "spread the wealth" wasn't Marxist.
Biden asked West if she was joking. Afterward, the Obama campaign cut off interviews with the station, canceling an appearance by Biden's wife, Jill.
On Monday Biden took another shot at the station.
"I was on a television station the other day doing a satellite feed to a major network in Florida, and the anchor quotes Karl Marx, and says in a sense, 'Isn't Barack Obama Karl Marx?'" Biden said. "You know, I mean, folks, this stuff you're hearing, this stuff you're hearing in this campaign, some of it's pretty ugly. And some of the innuendo is pretty ugly."
John McCain has used the charge that Obama wants to spread wealth rather than create it as a centerpiece of his campaign in its closing days.

I am not going to defend Biden's behavior to a local television station. There are better ways to handle things than that.

However... I had my own interview with Biden this year. (Having been a reporter in Iowa years ago, I'm not unfamiliar with presidential candidates campaigning door-to-door, so that wasn't something new to me.) I asked Biden some fairly difficult questions involving BRAC that he knew full well contained land mines. I was frankly amazed how much research he (or more likely, his staff, which is perfectly fine at his level where hiring good people to brief you on details is a sign of good governance) had done on Pulaski County. He knew details of Fort Leonard Wood and our problems with methamphetamine production, and was able to tout his support of the COPS grant and financial support of local anti-narcotics efforts. I also asked him a "Joe the Plumber"-type "real person" question, given to me by an employee in our office, about how a man who once criticized Obama could now become a supporter.

My impression is that Biden understands that small-town media are the key to winning a state like Missouri, just like Obama used small-town media to win Iowa. (The New York Times did a major article on the incredible amount of time Obama, a former community organizer, spent working with small towns and small weeklies and dailies because he understands that small-town papers have a readership and influence in rural areas that is totally out of proportion to their circulation numbers.)

I also think the TV reporter tried to be a small-town version of the national level "gotcha reporting" that happens too often on the networks. There is a big difference between being polite and asking Biden (or Obama), "Senator, you've been criticized by people who say your policies of 'spreading the wealth around' are semi-Marxist income redistribution, and we'd like to give you the opportunity to answer those accusations" and some of the aggressive tactics that specific TV reporter used.

Anybody who knows me knows I'm an aggressive hardball reporter. But we do need to remember that courtesy and politeness is not weakness -- and it's usually much more effective than peppering an elected official with tons of questions hoping he'll get flustered and give an embarrassing sound bite.

My view: Give a politician time to explain himself. Ask probing questions, and get him to open up. He'll either "open mouth, insert foot," or he'll welcome the opportunity to give an explanation of what he believes so people can evaluate it. "Sound bite journalism" isn't helping the American people make better decisions about who to elect.

Thank you DTM. It isn't what she asked. It was how she asked it.
