I remember Area 151 when it was Lou's Lounge, the Tracker when it was the Pine Room, and most of the others are gone now. What was the Falcon Club is now Judy's Place, down at the Elbow. Is Jackie's still open in Waynesville. The Pub has been in operation since the 50's I think, and Steve's Place, under one name or another probably.. Not too sure about them, they may have been closed for awhile..
I have it on good authority that the Hokey-Pokey really IS what it's all about.

Oh, and yes the Country Club is closed, and I even remeber when it was the Big 3, and Ed's Engineer Club at the Elbow too. Am I officially the oldest member of the Pulaski County Web?

That's what I am thinking. I actually worked at Curleys flipping burgers, that ages me a bit doesn't it?

I DJ'd at Ramada, the Pine, Silver Star, and two years straight at the Top Hat. Far as I know I was the first Club Dance DJ in the county. I had just came back from Arizona and told the owners of the Silver star what is popular out there. I packed every club I played..

In my single days I hit them all. some aren't around anymore;silver star,top hat,sailors pier,dees bamboo lounge,ditties.

area 151 must have the best history. I went there when it was the tepee and the ace of spades.

the embers(now sidetracker) was ok.

I think the country club is closed now.

but which is the oldest and still open?

Snakehill tavern, Drennans little beer joint just down the street.
The wagon wheel
The Bluemoon on the south outer road.
I can't believe no one has mentioned  Jodies and the Old Buckhorn Bar.
Snakehill was made out of stacked Ammo boxes with egg separators used for ceiling tile.........

And if you were not old enough or it was sunday Indian Alice's in buckhorn.
Now who wins??

Oh, yeah, don't want to forget Jodie's ( which was nationally known) and Duffy's Tavern, which was below the Park ' N' Eat.. I will probably remember more later. My personal favorite was the old Wagon Wheel. But for heaven's sake don't forget the Jungle Room downtown, the Silver Star, the 921 Club. Lord, this area used to JUMP. Really dead now considering the comparison.

On the subject of my plethora of useless information today, I shall reveal the ingredients of Curleys secret sauce..

It was a mix of katsup, mayo, and mustard. People loved it at the time..

You're just faster, when I was posting my reply, so were you..But you are older, I don't remember the Blue Moon. That makes you the winner.

Naw, just the oldest who can still remember the names of the clubs! The rest of them are sitting in a circle at the VA drooling down their chins!

snake hill was packed at lunch. It definitly had character.

I don't consider it a bar, but we use to go to the turkey shoots on sunday at the vfw when it was down from the hub.

there was a lot going on then. it seemed to be more fun also.

red ryder really packed em in at the tepee.

The question was......oldest.......still open.

Most of them I see up above aren't open anymore.

I know I worked at Victory Pub in 1970 and it is still open. That's pretty old.
When I was young, I wanted to be older.  This is not what I expected!

The Pub and what is now Steve's Place, whatever it's original name was. But it may not qualify because it was closed for awhile. But the Sidetracker was the old Pine Room and has been in operation for a long time too.

Pine as in Pine Steakhouse?  That hasn't been that long ago.  Or a different Pine.

Is the side tracker the one next to Dairy Queen that is now a church?  Or is that a different one?

I can remember going to what is now the Elbow Inn when I was a little girl; I also remember a club down in the Elbow called The Hideaway...it was a rock building that used to be there where the former Real Estate school is now. I have a picture of my Mother sitting at a table there w/my cousin & their boyfriends!
