Well I just received my highest utility bill, EVER!  Since Waynesville consolidates all utilities into one bill, $314.00 was the electric portion of my $396.00 total bill.  I live in a well insulated home, have zoned HVAC on both floors, set both thermostats @ 68 degrees, and have extremely efficient HVAC systems which are serviced yearly.
I believe my highest total bill last year was $365.00 but also had my thermostats set somewhat higher.

I'm more concerned with those living in uninsulated trailers, homes, or those with old inefficient HVAC systems.  Hell, some already have higher bills than mine now!  These are the folks who'll really get hammered and many are just barely making ends meet.

So with that said, is anybody alarmed with the recent utility rate increases (Waynesville 13%) (St. Robert 24%)?  Will our rates decrease to reflect the CURRENT price of natural gas, coal, etc, on the world market?  I would hope so.  If not, they'll be creating full time positions for utility shutoff personnel in the spring ........

My water Bill usually runs about 15.00 a month. My sewer bill runs 40.25 EVERY month now and I thought the sewer was based on the amount of water used? I know for a fact it is and the gal at the sewer office said USUALLY your sewer will run double the amount. So Mine still seems a little high and was told if I bring down my last 3 water usage output thingys from the water company they will check and maybe adjust my bill. I thought Id pass it along in case others like me think sewers a lil high for my thinking.
FOUND the ignore button. Ha Ha

$40.25 sewer bill ???  Good grief, mine was $26.00 and I have a stay-at-home wife, two children, a water softener, and a washer going day and night.  I definitely can't complain about the sewer portion of my bill, or water for that matter.

Antique doublewide, lousy insulation etc.  on LaClede.... $297.  Just 1/4 of my take home pay from my high paying County job. lol .  And they wondered why I cancelled my health insurance when the County said they couldn't guarantee paying the 'benefit' after the budget cycle.   :anger:

I assumed that propane would drop as all the other commodities have on the world market.  Fortunately it has for those of you using L.P.  Thank God you're not forced to buy it from Show-Me, Laclede, or the municipalities because you'd probably still be paying summer 2008 prices.

City funded utilities are just a plain rip off.  They're essentially a utility middle man and use their jacked up rates to help augment city revenue as well as provide like services that could be provided by the regional carrier "Laclede".  Basically we're being fleeced by the utility providers at all levels.

I challenge anybody with a straight face to tell us that producing a megawatt of power costs the same as it did six months ago..........

Assuming that you live in a 1950 Sq. Ft. home "national average", and your consumption is moderate:

Water $80.00

Electric $100.00

Note:  If you live in municipal district, they could fleece you to kingdom come and I wouldn't even begin to guess there..........

I'm guessing water is much more expensive do to population and purification costs.  Water is very reasonable here because we have an abundance of it; however, if your on the Pulaski County Sewer District and they base your sewer bill on water usage, "prepare to be bent over BIG TIME".

I live in Navarre Florida on the sound side.
My electric Bill averages $125.00 a month and the water is from 10 to 12 bucks a month..we have no sewer bill.
But trust me thats the only thing cheap down here :crying:
Oh yeah our AC runs about 350 days a year and we only had the heat on 4 or 5 times just to take the chill off.
Even if its 40 outside it still stays around 72 in the house.
I have paid my dues with cutting wood and scraping ice and snow in MO.
Now i'm a sunshine boy living in Gods waiting room.

Water is so abundant here you can't believe.
Dig a hole 3 ft and you have water, Drive a point 20 foot and you have pure drinking water.
My water line is buried 6 inchs ( just used a old time push plow and you have a trench dug 100ft long in 20 minutes.)
My sprinkler system is buried 6 in. so the heads didn't stick uo to far.

I have Gascosage Electric~ I pay on 2 houses and one never gets used and it runs a steady $23 a month~ I have rural water with no sewer bill~ I have a lagoon~ I have a well but it needs work~ and my trash is separate~ best thing I ever did was get a dumpster and charge the neighbors $10 a month ( they were paying $17.50) and wa lah there is the monthly dumpster bill.. I'm sorry you all have such high bills~  :crying:  But I think we make up for it with property taxes!

Real estates taxes are actually quite reasonable compared to national figures or more densly populated areas within our state.  Now personal property taxes are indeed a frickin NIGHTMARE.  I say this because one never actually owns any damn thing.  Some of this equipment & livestock that an individual MUST claim isn't even meant to be operated and/ or driven on public roads!  I'd rather just pay an additional fee for my yearly license tag renewal and be done with it!  That's why I never bought a 4 wheeler.  Yet one has to list livestock, farm machinery, and historic vehicles?  Yeah I bet they cause some serious wear to our roads and bridges..... NOT!

Hey, if it can't be licensed for the road, it shouldn't be taxed, period.........
