Glad to see the time in now right and I for one shall vote yes on the ballot. I would urge all others to do the sameour county is busting at the seams crimewise and no matter how many bad guys we send off there always seems to someone to replace them. The Sheriff's Office needs the help.

Kathy, these sign thefts have been an ongoing problem for years and it costs the county dearly.  I believe they caught some thieves a few years ago who were responsible for the theft of several thousand dollars worth of signage.  I can't recall the outcome of their case but thefts dramatically decreased for a period of time after their arrest.

I wander alot of dirt roads and am forever calling the county to tell them where they are~ lol~ found a few in the river while fishing also~ shame they (the thiefs) couldn't get an electric shock when they grabbed onto those signs~ now that would be worth watching, or if they could have hidden video cameras nearby to see who was doing it..

I know the thief is on probation for the crime.  Not sure if he did time or not.  I would have to check Casenet for that.

They have been talking about how to find out who is doing this. There isn't enough officers to use to hide out and watch and don't know to many people who would want to hide out and watch for these people doing it. Looks like to me someone would see them doing this but so far no one has said anything. Just in the last couple of weeks they put up about 90 signs that were taken and just within a few days half were gone again. People complain about how money is being wasted well this is 1 situation where it is people wasting our tax dollars and it needs to stop. So in this situation what would be the best thing to do?

put a chip in those being stole on a regular basis..  once the are removed from pole it activates a signal which leads a trooper straight to it!  be costly for all signs so just do a few for now.  once word gets out they will get caught it will stop

We couldn't keep up out street sign for years, as soon as it would go up, they would take it down, it finally stopped and we have had the sign up for several years now.

I remember trying to steal a stop sign when I was a kid - we couldn't budge the sign but came away with a nasty case of poison ivy!

Alot of times it has to do with the scavenger hunts. Kids put signs on the list and different signs at that and when its over they just dump them wherever.
Maybe if they put them in concrete it would be hard or use a different type of bolt that they attach it to the pole with?
I hate that they do this too it can be a hazard for drivers on the road.

My road sign has been missing for years.  But since I am the only one that lives on it, I never bothered to find out how to get it replaced.  Although it does cause some confusion when I am expecting a delivery...lol.   If there is leftover signs, post them and we an see where they go...lol.
