(CNN) — Former House speaker Newt Gingrich is warning of a third party mutiny in 2012 if Republicans don’t figure out a way to shape up.

“If the Republicans can’t break out of being the right wing party of big government, then I think you would see a third party movement in 2012,” Gingrich said Tuesday.

The speech, to a group of students at the College of the Ozarks in Missouri, was recorded by Springfield TV station KY3.

But Gingrich, bemoaning President Barack Obama’s “monstrosity of a budget,” acknowledged that Republicans are partially to blame for the escalation in federal spending.

"Remember, everything Obama’s doing, Bush started last year,” he said.

“If you’re going to talk about big spending, the mistakes of the Bush administration last year are fully as bad as the mistakes of Obama’s first two, three months.”

Gingrich told the students that the current governmental system “is so sick, so out of touch and so arrogant that you’re going to have a nationwide rebellion at the polls of people in both parties who are just fed up.”

“You can do a Facebook page, you can Twitter,” he said. “I Twitter right now and I think we’re at like, I don’t know, 18,000 or 20,000 thousand people that follow my Twitter, which I have to say I think is nuts. But there are ways to communicate, you’re not trapped by CBS news.”

Gingrich has repeatedly said that he will decide in early 2011 whether he plans to seek the White House in 2012.
"There are plenty of good reasons for fighting, but no good reason ever to hate without reservation, to imagine that God almighty Himself hates with you, too. Where's evil? It's that large part of every man that wants to hate without limit, that wants to hate with God on its side." - Kurt Vonnegut

The Newt only referred to "nuts" when talking about those who follow his "twitterings," and I agree -- anyone following that kook is nuts!
So who are all these nuts you are referring to, what_the?? Or are you just calling people names aimlessly?

ok what the, lets all agree that things have been bad for a few years.  It didn't hit me because I don't invest money and haven't bought a house, so maybe I didn't realize how bad things have been for several years.

You can't possibly think it is OK to continue on this track.  Somebody has to stop the current trend.  How do we do that.

President Obama was voted in for change, where is the change if he is continuing things as they have been for years.
When I was young, I wanted to be older.  This is not what I expected!

nobama has outspent all previous president collectively. so W's spending is now irrelevant. I do think W spent too much of our money though.

Newt constructed the "contract with america" that led to the gop taking over congress in 1994. don't underestimate him. it may very well happen again next year. I like newt, but I don't think he is electable as president because he will tell it like it is and name names of the dems who are screwing up the country. It is no secret W stopped being a conservative. look at the spending. But he kept us safer than any dem did.

winston is just grasping at anything he can to distract from nobamas screwing the country. you won winston, get used to it.

Sounds like the Neocon, religious right, conservative coalition has begun to splinter. They best find a common enemy real quick because they have begun to attack each other.

I hate to break it to you but there have been MANY of us that felt Bush was to much of a spender, not nearly conservative enough...which is also why Obama won by so much, most of those same folks either stayed home or just didn't work when it came to Sen. McCain.  None of Newts news is "new news".

Conservatives almost never lose a seat in an election because of being too conservative, they normally lose those seats when they try to act moderate.  People want a choice, somewhat liberal and somewhat conservative.  When the conservative takes that choice away by becoming more moderate (more liberal in the hard-core conservative's mind) then the conservative stays home, thus helping the more liberal.

If conservatives want to be elected in conservative districts, they have to be conservative.  President Bush, while I respect the man (as I do any President, even though I may disagree with their policies) was not as conservative as I wanted and without a doubt spent more than I liked.  One thing that must be remembered though is the fact that he was handed more disasters, attacks, etc... than almost any president in history.  Those do cost money AND for his spending in his last two years, those spending bills were started by a Democrat led Congress.

I could go through and mention a ton of things he did and didn't do, but that wasn't the point of my post.  My post was to give my opinion that when Republicans lose seats it is because they stop acting like Republicans.

I didn't say he LIED because I am not convinced he did.  If you tell me something that you honestly feel is true and it turns out not to be, I don't consider you a liar, you just had bad information.  You may know much more about what information the President was given than I, but I don't have enough knowledge of the intel he was given to call him a liar.

Gw Bush's biggest mistake was to attack Iraq. He found himself having to do something after 9-11. Instead of taking the long and hard route of going after terrorist, he took the easy task of defeating Saddam Hussein. The problem was, this allowed OPEC to jack up the price of crude oil. The increased price of energy caused a down turn for the economy. Since wall-street was at the top of a bubble, and this poked a hole in it. Now the democrats are afraid of having a depression while they are in power. So they are going to try to buy their way out of it. The short out come will be the devaluation of the dollar. The long term will be debt that our grandchildren will have to pay to China. If we had regulated banks and insurance companies closer we wouldn't be in this mess. I don't want to limit individuals taking risks but when institutions gamble then its bad for the common good. Uncontrolled speculation always leads to a boom and bust economy, with its undesirable instability. If there is a lesson in this, its don't gamble and if you do, don't borrow money from you enemy to pay off debt. I'm sure this will become apparent in the near future. As they say "What doen't kill you will make you stronger".

I agree with much of what you said, I don't know that President Bush was taking what is thought to be the easy road, but no doubt it was a road that has turned out to be full of bumps and potholes...not a good one.

Good points and you are right, we are soon to see inflation go through the roof, but that has happened before...just not fun.

The one thing to remember is America always survives. We are adaptable but sadly have a short memory. Who ever is in power at the moment gets the blame/credit for what is happening. The out come of a decision may take decades to become apparent.

Ipersonally I am tired of the blame business.  Obama has his work cut out for him, if he stays within the confines of keeping this country safe and actually helps to correct the market/economy.  I don't think he and his fellow democrats are on the right track.  The pendulum went too far to the right and now the pendulum has gone FAR left too.  The problem with going far left is we are headed for a loss of economic power as a country.  We are also moving away from capitalism to socialism and toward being what the rest of the world wants us to be.

I agree with you matrsnot, stop blaming and do something to get things going in the right direction and I'm not convinced that President Obama is heading in that way.  Time may prove me wrong but the actions he has taken so far have not made me feel comfortable about our future.  First of all, he is all kissy face with the other leaders of the world and he can't even work with the people in our congress and senate.  He just uses his "hitwoman" Pelosi to get things done her way.

Obama is about business as usual.  He is not only exacerbating the problem but doing it exponentially.  We are on a fast track to come under UN power and the World Courts.  If Obama would be President instead of continuing to camapign and actually FIND the White House and DO something besides campaign, we might get going in the right direction.  Pelosi needs to be removed from office.  She is much more dangerous to this country than Obama could ever hope to be.  Obama during his campaign did say he would lean to the side of the muslims if push came to shove.  Guess he wasn't lying about that one was he?

Mark Whittington: Obama Bows to the Saudi King
Associated Content ^ | 4/3/2009 | Mark Whittington

President Barack Obama has stirred yet another controversy when he appeared to bow to the King of Saudi Arabia during the recent G20 Economic Summit. The appropriateness of an elected President bowing before an absolute monarch has been questioned.

The writer Mark Steyn suggested, rather caustically, "So let me see if I understand American protocol in the age of Obama: The First Lady hugs Queen Elizabeth as if she's some granny at a seniors' center photo-op, but the President of this republic prostrates himself before King Abdullah as if he's a subject of the Saudi pseudo-Crown."

While the behavior of Michelle Obama toward the Queen of England was considered by some to be overly familiar, Barack Obama bowing before the King of Saudi Arabia seems to be obsequious in the extreme. Under no circumstances is it expected or even permitted for an American citizen to bow before any foreign monarch. This is especially true of the elected President of the United States.

It seems strange that the allegedly naïve and boorish President George W. Bush knew this, whereas the sophisticated and worldly President Barack Obama does not. Americans fought a revolution, after all, so that they would not have to bow down before any monarch. One wonders what the men who fought at Lexington-Concord, Saratoga, and Yorktown would have thought of President Obama bowing before the King of Saudi Arabia. In the Middle East especially, the act of bowing indicates submission and acknowledgment of that the person being bowed to is the master. President Obama by bowing to the King of Saudi Arabia acknowledged him as his sovereign. Indeed, President Obama may well have acknowledged the Saudi King as our sovereign, by an interpretation of local custom.
