I was driving down the road and saw this beautiful bush/tree? The house is empty is why I didn't get a closer shot of it, but I want to know what it is...

I think that is an azalea bush. They are like a smaller version of the rhododendron, but with more flowers.

I'm surprised I couldn't tell that.  I have a pink Azalea that's been here as longer than I have, over 15 years.
This one in Kristi's pic is more striking, love the color.

Evergreen azalea colors range from white to purple to red, with no yellow azaleas and only a few orange azaleas.

Well I found an orange one!

Get a cutting and put it in water or dip it in rooting hormone and place it in a pot filled with potting soil. It should grow roots and take off.

We have over 60 azalea's in our yard.
Red,pink, white and even a few purplewhite......... From three foot tall to nine foot tall.
Becky has been planting them for over 50 years.
When she looked at that picture the first she said was.................. MAN THEY NEED TO PAINT THAT HOUSE!!
And thats a pretty bush but I don't think I have ever seen an Azalea that had a trunk like that....... she said it may be a missouri inbreed ;D

Lived in North Carolina for 20 years, Azaleas everywhere! But, I, too, have never seen and Azalea with a trunk like that. So, this morning when, I saw this thread. I went on a websearch trying to find an Azalea with that type of trunk and came up  empty. I would REALLY like to know what  kind of tree/bush that it is or what species of MO inbred azalea.

Very close, I was at Ft. Bragg with relatives at Pinehurst. I worked in Fayetteville and had plenty of friends in Hope Mills. When I get to my other computer I will post some of my azalea pictures.

Why did you choose Hope Mills?
