  • Valor7: Actually no it is not, a dependable Revenue stream will not come on line until the 4th quarter of 2017 so 2018 budget will be up in the air, not quite sure what they will have. By 2019 budget all will be well.

  • Valor7: I could have worded that better, we talked details, options, the pros and cons of each, in  order to arrive at the best ballot language to present to the voters. Hope that makes this clearer.

  • Valor7: sorry about the typos still working with just one arm in action
    April 13, 2016, 01:10:42 PM
  • Valor7: Yes and no. We talked details and options until we were blue in the face but I never heardbring it over, it was always the time was not right for the issue to pass. Glad to see the time in now right and I for one shall vote yes on the ballot. I would urge all others to do the sameour county is busting at the seams crimewise and no matter how many bad guys we send off there always seems to someone to replace them. The Sheriff's Office needs the help.

Neat, Maynard.  Neater if they had showed up in a reproduction 17th century Spanish clipper.

A few years the Nina Replica was here and we took the tour.
It was amazing to us that these brave men survived the trip.
They slept on deck exposed to all the elements.
They were some tough S.O.B.'s ***(**&

COLUMBUS REPLICA SHIP ‘NINA TO VISIT PENSACOLA
Pensacola, Fl..– On Friday December 22nd, the “Nina”, a replica of Columbus’ favorite ship will open in Pensacola. The ship will be docked at the Palafax Pier Marina, 997 S. Palafax, until her departure early Tuesday morning January 2nd, 2007.
Built completely by hand and without the use of any power tools, Archaeology magazine called the ship “the most historically correct Columbus replica ever built.” The craftsmanship of construction and the details in the rigging make it a truly fascinating visit back to the Age of Discovery. The ‘Nina’ was used in the production of the film ‘1492’ starring Gerard Depardieu and directed by Ridley Scott.
The ‘Nina’ was built in Bahia, Brazil by the Columbus Foundation which is based in the British Virgin Islands. The ship has been touring continually since 1992 as a ‘sailing museum’ for the purpose of educating the public and school children on the ‘caravel’, a Portuguese ship used by Columbus and many early explorers to discover the world.
While in port, the general public are invited to visit the ship for a walk aboard self-guided tour every day of the week. The prices are $5.00 for adults, $4.00 for senior citizens, and $3.00 for students. Children 4 and under are Free. The ship will be open every day from 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. No reservations necessary.
Teachers or groups wishing to schedule a 30 minute guided group tour with a crew member can call the ship at 1 787 421 0402, or email columfnd@surfbvi.com. Minimum of 15. Visit our website at www.thenina.com for additional information. The ship arrives on Thursday Dec. 21st, and there will be a private viewing of the ship for the media after docking.

I hear ya on that one.  My little research on the old tall clippers showed how nearly impossible it was to control these vessels over long ocean voyages.
