Glad to see the time in now right and I for one shall vote yes on the ballot. I would urge all others to do the sameour county is busting at the seams crimewise and no matter how many bad guys we send off there always seems to someone to replace them. There is one in Rolla and I am not crazy about it, but that is just me, not my thing. It's always pretty busy and has stayed open for a while, that says something!

My family and I go to this place every Monday night and we all love it. I have tried almost everything on the menu and it is great. But again it is Japaneese food and it consists of Sushi so some people might not be feeling it. If you do like Sushi I think its the best I have had in quite a while and I highly recommend it. Plus the people there are great and very helpful.

what is your favorite sushi? What would you recommend for a sushi newbie to try? Should I juice up with sake first?

what is your favorite sushi? What would you recommend for a sushi newbie to try? Should I juice up with sake first?

Okie, as you know I eat various types of Asian food at home virtually all the time. If I want "foreign food," I take my wife out to Ryans or Cracker Barrel to try things that are "new and different."

Asking what type of sushi a newbie should try is roughly like an Asian asking an American, "Well, what flavor of sandwich should I try first?" Sushi is simply fish (usually raw) wrapped in rice and wrapped in seaweed. Think of the bread being the rice/seaweed -- if you don't like bread, you won't like any kind of sandwich, and if you don't like rice or seaweed you won't like any kind of sushi.

Now as for what kind of sushi you would like -- taste, texture, chewiness, and juiciness of the fish all differ depending on the type of fish and how it is cut up or shredded. Also, spices may get put into the sushi, and some sushi isn't raw but rather cooked. Another factor is that vegetables are often put into the roll that is then cut up to make the sushi.

I often recommend that people start with something very simple like tuna sushi. If they're used to eating tuna fish sandwiches or eating tuna out of the can, it won't be a big hurdle to climb over to get used to eating raw tuna in sushi. You can get everything from a California or Philadelphia roll, which is virtually the same as eating a tuna fish sandwich but using rice instead of bread, to nice juicy pieces of raw tuna that you will chew.

Beyond that, a lot depends on your taste. Some people love ham sandwiches but hate salami sandwiches, or they love mayonnaise and hate mustard. I wish I could give you a better answer, but it really all depends on whether you like the taste of raw fish, and then whether you like some or all of the different ways the raw fish can be prepared.
