If she did it, nail her.  Liberals need a victory after a ton of claims that have all be garbage so if they finally found one I say let her have the full extent of the law.

Todd and Sarah Palin to divorce

Affairs on both sides

AlaskaReport has learned this morning that Todd Palin and former Alaska governor Sarah Palin are to divorce. Multiple sources in Wasilla and Anchorage have confirmed the news.

A National Enquirer story exposing previous affairs on both sides led to a deterioration of their marriage and the stress from that led to Palin's resignation as governor of Alaska.

The Palins were noticeably not speaking to each other at last Sunday's resignation speech in Fairbanks. Sarah ditched Todd (MSNBC) right after the speech and left without him. Sarah removed her wedding ring a couple of weeks ago.

Sarah has recently purchased land in Montana and is considering moving the family there. Sarah Palin is originally from Idaho.

Todd Palin told Fox News last week that he was heading back to his job in the oil fields of Alaska, yet Sarah recently signed a book deal reportedly worth $11 million.

Breaking story, we'll post more when we get it....

Editor's note: AlaskaReport was the first website to report that Sarah Palin was running for governor of Alaska and the first website to report that Sarah was picked as John McCain's VP candidate.

n a world exclusive The NATIONAL ENQUIRER names GOP VP Candidate Sarah Palin's secret lover!

No less than three members of the man’s family including one by sworn affidavit have claimed that Sarah Palin engaged in an extramarital affair with husband Todd’s former business partner, Brad Hanson.

These sources have named Hanson as Palin’s secret love, and say their affair nearly wrecked both their marriages.

Hanson owned a snowmobile dealership with Palin’s husband Todd, who immediately dissolved the partnership after he heard stories about the affair, which occurred around 1996, according to the sources.  At the time, Palin was mayor of Wasilla.

Palin has vehemently denied cheating on her husband, and Hanson insisted to The NATIONAL ENQUIRER that he was never romantically involved with the 44-year-old Republican vice presidential candidate.

However, Hanson family insider, Jim Burdett, has gone on the record and passed a rigorous polygraph test, revealing details of the affair to The NATIONAL ENQUIRER in a world exclusive interview.

Burdett is a former brother-in-law of Hanson’s estranged wife Carolyn's brother, Craig Batton, and still speaks with many family members.

“I’ve known about Brad having had an affair for a long time, but it wasn’t until just recently that I learned his affair was with Sarah Palin,” Burdett told The NATIONAL ENQUIRER.

“Sarah was elected mayor of Wasilla, Brad became a city council member in the nearby town of Palmer, and they started an affair.

“Todd found out about the affair and was so mad he broke up their partnership at the snowmobile dealership,” Burdett claimed.

Another source, who preferred to remain anonymous for fear of repercussions, provided The NATIONAL ENQUIRER with a sworn affidavit attesting to the Palin-Hanson story.

“Todd was away on business a lot and Sarah felt lonely. Brad was a good listener, and Sarah talked to him at length. Eventually, she realized she was falling in love with him,” one insider divulged.

“When Todd got back from one of his trips, Sarah told him that she had begun to have feelings for Brad.”

OK, let's see how this one turns out. I know more than a little bit about political marriages, and about what happens when people from a basically normal Midwest or small city background get into the national spotlight. Washington is full of what is jokingly called the "second wives club," and I don't want to discount the possibility of major marriage problems. Having a prominent conservative female politician divorce her husband would be a new thing, but men have been doing it for years (unfortunately made acceptable by no less than Ronald Reagan), and I'm not convinced in 2009 that it wouild be the "kiss of death" that it would have been a decade or two ago for a conservative woman.

However, look at this article from the Christian Science Monitor, which is anything but a conservative publication. If the problems in Palin's marriage are so bad that they're close to a breakup, it isn't quite yet to the breaking point:

Palin getting a divorce? Nope.
By Jimmy Orr | 08.01.09

Word of a pending divorce between former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and former First Dude Todd is gaining a lot of traction in Internet land.

“Palin divorce” is the fourth-most searched topic right now on Google Trends.

There’s only one problem with that. It’s not true. Palin spokeswoman Meg Stapleton is shooting down the story by an Alaskan blogger who claimed to have inside information on a split.

Stapleton posted a response to the charge on Palin’s Facebook page.

“Yet again, some so-called journalists have decided to make up a story. There is no truth to the recent “story” (and story is the correct term for this type of fiction) that the Palins are divorcing. The Palins remain married, committed to each other and their family, and have not purchased land in Montana (last week it was reported to be Long Island),” Stapleton wrote.

national enquirer? LOL LOL

Unfortunately, they were right on John Edwards, and they have blown up the careers of several other politicians.

The National Enquirer is not the Weekly World News and they're not about three-headed alien babies. They specialize in doing celebrity reporting, and they actually have a decent reputation digging up dirt in that area which the mainstream media have pretty much always left to the tabloids. Unfortunately -- and I consider this to be extremely bad -- they have decided to fill a role that the mainstream media are not filling because of staff cutbacks, and they're doing the kind of aggressive tracking down of dirt on politicians that used to the province of the national media.

I consider anything out of the National Enquirer to be suspect at best. But the sad thing is that they are devoting tons of resources to political reporting because they sense a market for dirt that they can fill and few other people have the staff to fill it anymore.

I wish the National Enquirer would dry up and blow away. But the fact is that somebody is going to be digging up dirt on our politicians, and if the mainstream media cannot or will not do that, somebody else will.

I would not put the national enquirer in the same company as any legitimate news paper. they probably got the news on edwards from a newspaper and printed it. the Palin story is just that. the media is in bed with the dems and both are afraid of her. why else are they continuing to print made up stories?

I don't consider the National Enquirer to be a legitimate newspaper by any definition of the word. Even when they broke the story on Dick Morris (a Republican who was talked into working for Bill Clinton, and then got involved with a sex scandal) I refused to buy a copy of that "paper" and read their coverage from other sources.

However, they do investigate, and they're proud of the fact that they do the old-fashioned shoe-leather reporting that years ago newspapers routinely did but have largely stopped doing due to lack of staff and lack of money. That's why the National Enquirer rarely loses a libel lawsuit.

If you're not familiar with the John Edwards case, what basically happened is that the National Enquirer got tips that Edwards was involved in an affair and cheating on his cancer-stricken wife. Lots of other media got the same type of tips and years ago it was things like this that destroyed the career of politicians like Gary Hart. However, it is **NOT** true that the National Enquirer picked this up from some other media -- they investigated the tips, while the rest of the media were basically sleeping on the watch.

They've done the same thing a number of times to less prominent politicians. Basically, they take well-honed tools of celebrity gossip, throw a ton of money into an investigation, wade around in mucky, nasty, dirty stories that most "respectable" media don't like, and sometimes they come up with a real doozy of a story.

That's the kind of thing that used to attract reporters to the grimy police and politics beat at papers like the Chicago Sun-Times and New York Post, which were tabloids in the original sense of the word, namely, focusing on dirt, sex, corruption, crime and violence. Today, it's hard to keep a police beat or government beat at even barely acceptable staffing levels at a metro newspaper, which means that the door has been opened widely for the blogs and the National Enquirer to follow up on tips that years ago would have been picked up by the less-savory elements of the mainstream media.

And yes, before anyone goes there, I'm not unaware of the comparison to what I do. I know what gets read, and it sure ain't the feel-good stuff. I would like to think that I have a little more elevated reason for doing what I do than cold hard cash, but the fact is that slime, sleaze, scandals and fights sell a lot better than cute puppy dog pictures.

Alaska Blogger Who Pushed Palin 'Divorce' Rumor Resigns From Anchorage School
By Robert Stacy McCain on 8.6.09 @ 2:45AM

It is not illegal to impersonate a journalist, but when an anti-Palin blogger published a bogus "exclusive" Saturday, he signed up for a lesson in the law of unintended consequences:

Jesse Griffin, the Alaska blogger who Saturday claimed in an "exclusive" report that Todd and Sarah Palin were divorcing, will no longer work as an Anchorage kindergarten teaching assistant, school officials confirmed Wednesday.
Griffin's resignation followed revelations that the 49-year-old Griffin had posted (under the alias "Gryphen") sexually explicit advocacy of pornography and masturbation on his "Immoral Minority" blog. . . .
Griffin blamed "the Palin team and their minions" for discovery of his "Gryphen" online alias, which he says resulted in death threats and harassment. . . .

"Minions"? Merely a reporter doing his job. It's like Joe Friday said: "Just the facts, ma'am." Read the whole thing.
