  • Valor7: Yes and no. We talked details and options until we were blue in the face but I never heardbring it over, it was always the time was not right for the issue to pass. Glad to see the time in now right and I for one shall vote yes on the ballot. I would urge all others to do the sameour county is busting at the seams crimewise and no matter how many bad guys we send off there always seems to someone to replace them. The Sheriff's Office needs the help.

I heard a rumor that we will be voting on this here shortly -- Is that true?

I would have to say that is one big rumor.

Personally I think the fire tax failed because lack of the right publicity and public education. I didn't even know that there was an vote that day.  It will be interesting to see how Crocker does with their fire tax as they are going about it totally different than Waynesville did. As well as the LE Taxes that are on area ballots.

It will take a lot of support to get the word out to the public. More than just the officers.  Hopefully the area newspapers will be supportive of this and get us good coverage when the day comes.

I had a nice chat tonight with a lady that lives up off Hwy 28.  We had a call at her neighbor's house and I only had 2 deputies on duty after 7 tonight. 1 was transporting a prisoner from Dixon to our jail on one of our warrants so was unavailable. Call came in for a domestic so I sent my officer and automatically called St Robert PD for assistance.  She was so relieved to know that we can call neighboring agencies for help when we don't have the officers for emergency calls. It doesn't always  work out well though as on some nights the other agencies are just as busy as we are. That is when the take home car is useful as I start calling off duty officers to respond.

Reason I told that little story is that I mentioned the LE Tax and she told me that she reads both the county message boards (didn't say if she posted) and fully supports us and will definately vote yes when it comes time. Folks like this are the ones we need to help us pass the word.

I don't know about a poll from media or if it would do any good.  You can't get much more direct when the Sheriff talks directly to the Commissioners about the issue.

I hear ya Yankee Trader.  In response I would suggest that the people, via a scientific poll performed by reputable media or directly, take it to the commissioners .  I'm not bad mouthing JB, but you have to admit the commissioners and JB are not exactly trading love notes with each other these days.  Also, in this forum I've seen some comments regarding local businesses and their opinion.  Has anyone gotten with the Chamber of Commerce to see where they stand on this issue? Their opinion would go a long way if they support the issue and there would be a better understanding of the opposition if they are against it.

I think it is a job requirement for the sheriff and commisioner not to get along!  :-)   LOL!  Attempt at humor!
With out heart we are nothing.

OZARK CO LAW ENFORCEMENT TAX -- 100 of 100 precincts reporting
 YES 778 67% (X)
 NO 390 33%

Lopsided?

Bet JB is jealous... Some one please call this county and learn their sales pitch.

Bluntly stated Big Bird, when you don't get on the ballot, you don't need a sales pitch.

Still would be nice to have a plan in place most can agree on. I have some new ideas for polls.

Gee ya think our results may have been similar if certain someones listened to the people and put it on the ballot?  Can't get much plainer than black and white.

I can't verify if it is true or not....but that is Camden county and not Pulaski....alot of people in Pulaski county know it is needed....  The business owners may not want it but the people do and it will pass.....especially if we think positively......
