One of those fires was my barn.  I don't have any information to share with you, but I am glad to see that an effort is being made.  Anything I can do to help, just ask.  Thank you.

As a matter of fact, they just drove the last nail in the new barn today.  Insurance covered everything from clean-up to lock-up.  I would still like 15 minutes alone with the SOB that burned it down.

I bet you a nickel to a donut, that the person (s) that are running around torching things also burned my grandmothers old place on Highway 28 down too.  Bigedd, when you are finished with them, direct them my way please.  I have a whole slew of cousins that sure would like to find out who did it.

Any more information on this?  Is there a particular area where the fires are suspect?  Not looking for details that would compromise and investigation, just an idea or two.  One of my sons lost a barn / shed to fire.  A passerby woke them at 0500, and by then it was already totally engulfed.

Update on the arson's. An arrest has been made by the Fire Marshall's office. A warrant was issued last week while the suspect was being held in Pulaski County jail on unrelated charges.

Keep patience folks....the boss worked 2 shifts as road officer last weekend so I imagine he would not have had time to do any catch up.

Well we have a small problem. The case I was going to write about turns out NOT to be one of ours. We did some work on an arson case and referred information and a suspect to the State Fire Marshall. They picked up the case and ran with it and as a result of their investigation a suspect was arrested and charged with Arson second degree. But since it is not a PCSD case I probably should not do a release without talking with them first. And as YT said I did two road shifts on nights , after working the day shift, and then Tues. & Wed. I did bailiff work so I am so far behind I cannot read my name.

I have two assignments Thurs. AM and one in the afternoon, plus a burglary to do some work on, so I doubt that I will get to the fire marshall but I will try.

Yes I think I can do that but I will not comment on the case or the information we gave the Fire Marshal.

Arrested was Kaylee S. Beal of Dixon, Mo. The charge was one count of arson second degree, bond set and posted. Accused of the arson of a home owned by Fremand Moss on April 13, 2007, located at 14026 Hwy. BB, Richland, Mo.

I thought the Sheriff's Department did not do arson case's, i was told that if you called about an arson or a fire investigation that they were given to the state. Doesn't the Sheriff's Department have someone qualified to do it? somoene closer then the state person?

Arson investigation is a very special criminal work. We do not have an investigator to work the scenes. I would prefer the case be done correctly so please call the Fire Marshal. Now that does not stop us from taking tips and other info. In this case we gave the Fire Marshal a gold plated source and they completed the case.

    We have 17 full time paid officers and that includes;
1. Me
2. Chief Deputy
3. One Detective
4. One process server
5. One evidence room custodian who is also a  crimes against children detective.
6. 12 road officers.

Right now the last hire is still in training and two road Deputies are out on extended sick leave. We do not have an arson specialist or any narcotic officers. I would like both on my staff. I would like to triple my budget. I would like to watch some TV tonight. On the TV bit I have a chance. The rest of it ........... nope. You get what you pay for.

At the risk of be "outed" in public, I am Edd Pyatt.  I want to publicly thank J.B and his deputies as well as the State Fire Marshal for their efforts in this matter.  I have been contacted by the county PA, as well as the fire marshal, to inform me of what is now on the radio, and I suspect will soon be in the newspaper, that an arrest has been made in the arson of my barn.  For those of you who knew of the barn, and have expressed your dismay at its passing, thank you.  Now, let's hope the justice system comes through.

Yes one of my reserves was just hired by the State Fire Marshall. They have decided to place him in Jefferson County.  With luck in about 90 days we will have a State officer living in Phelps County and assigned to Pulaski County.

Edd I'm glad the light at the end of the tunnel can be seen on your case and I hope that the system does you justice.  Nevertheless, I am still wondering if this person could have been the one that "torched" my Grandma Gaddy's old place on 28.  I'm not the owner of the property, but a lot of memories sure went up in smoke and a whole bunch of my relatives are highly upset, to say the least.

Littlejon, I talked to JB, and she is being considered a person of interest in several other fires.  I'm sure he can't address that here, but if you called or talked to him in person, he might be able to inform you.

Not at my place.  It cost me over $5,000 to have it cleaned up and hauled away.  The siding was asbestos, so it required special handling.  The wires were in the mess.

After this barn burned, I had a new one built on the same site, although not at big.  It is new, and I can lock it up to protect my equipment and hay inside.  Guess where the door was kicked in last week?  Same week we were to go to trial on the old barn arson.  Nothing taken inside, and the deputy tried to take fingerprints, but no luck.

We finally go to trial on 14 April, over a year after the crime.  What a system.
