Local 28 lost another member, SFC Will Sabalu was killed overseas due to small arms fire, leaving his wife Amy, who also is in the Army, and two children. He was due to come home in early June.
He was a true hero and fighter for freedom, and he will greatly be missed by Freedom of Road Riders, as he was a close member of this family

Biker Angel be my guide
As I climb upon my scoot to ride.
Let your halo guide the way
And keep me safe from harm today.
Let your wings provide me the wind and air
And send it coursing through my hair.
Find for me a sunny place
and let it shine upon my face.
Keep the clouds and rain at bay
And keep me dry throughout the day.
Watch over my brothers who ride with me.
Keep them safe and close to thee.
Keep my wheels upon the ground
So Iíll return here safe and sound.
But should disaster be my fate,
Guide me through to Heavenís gate.
If I must join my fallen brethren
Please show me the way to Biker Heaven
"LORD, thank you for the open air,
the feel of wind blowing through my hair;
Just me alone upon my bike,
the thrill of freedom's what I like.
To wind through country unexplored,
not knowing what I'll see next LORD;

That's what I seek when off I ride,
I'm thankful that you're by my side.
If I should ride 'til morning's light,
please keep me safe throughout the night;

And when I've come to journey's end,
It's you I'll thank - protector, FRIEND

When the last Biker falls

Author Unknown

The old ones stand out now, their numbers dwindling down. They are a sad loss to the American scene, these individualists with the worn down clothes and faces.

You can still see them sometimes, the real ones. Some in packs, not as large as a while ago. Sometimes alone. The ones alone are best. One who's been there a long time, staying in the life he loves, never giving into a system that sucks you up like a vortex if you slip just one foot into it. He's got his connections, a few just like him, that care for and protect each other. Hanging onto the only unique lifestyle left. Like old dinosaurs, their faces are leathered and rough by forty, but their eyes still sharp and knowing. Some are gray in the beards and braids, some are limp in the step and some with pain in their kidneys.

Still they know no other life is life, but merely a dreary journey into everyone else's monotony. He looks at the new ones, then turns away, knowing they will never know of life on the road and the women who can take it. Wild, loving women who will hang in with them, because they love it too. A woman with a wild heart and a loyal soul, that's what's needed here. The new ones are young and shiny and a bit too clean. They are born into a system that has an iron grip now. The new ones will never know and couldn't take the life.

I think it's a mystique, even to the old ones, why this life is theirs, but it is, and it's the only one. When the last Biker falls, like the dinosaur, the sun will go down on a breed of heart-of-gold, tough-as-nails, free spirited men, who even at their worst, love what's theirs and protect it.

In a world wide system that is making all people as alike as manufactured dolls, the earth will be a duller place.....

When the last Biker falls.......

I am so sorry to hear of the loss.  The Prayer/poem is beautiful.

Sometimes it is a shame that things have to change and a lot of the old ways are gone but as long as the memories remain, people will remember and some will continue to live the free life.

Tomorrow at 11:00 am, there will be a memorial service for Wil on FLW. Freedom of Road Riders and patriot Riders, plus anyone who want to ride with with (motorcycle) will be meeting at Ramada at 9am and will come through the gate with MP escort. We will have a flag line in front of the chapel during the service.

Saturday, Wil will be flown into FLW at 10:15. Freedom of Road Riders will meet again at 9am at Ramada, will be escorted through the gate by the MPs, out to the Airport. When he is ready (my guess is at noon) we will then escort him out the front gate, St Robert will the escort us until Waynesville PD will escort us the rest of the way to the Funeral Home.
It would really look really good, and be an honor, if we could see the streets of St Robert and Waynesville lined up when we come though, waving flags, and just out there to honor one of our own heroes coming home.

Monday, Wil will be laid to rest with church services at noon on FLW at Soldier's chapel, and the burial at Sun Set Cemetery in Waynesville roughly at 13:30.

The picture of how a hero should be welcomed home

This was posted by a by stander from today ride. It was very emotional. We have 85 bikes when we left the Ramada going on post. By the time we got to the airport, 25-30 more bike joined us.
What you see is a little of what really happened. From the Airport, along the entire length of Iowa St, which is about 3 miles long, were soldiers shoulder to shoulder, present arms as Wil came by. Then when we exited post, we saw hundred of people lining the streets, may waving flags, some just showing respect as we road by. Even 90% of the cars in the other lanes going against us (4 lane road) stopped and exited the cars.
We all brought Wil to the Funeral Home, and quietly gathered around the hearse. The Military Honor Guard then removed him from the hearse. When they brought out the casket, it suddenly became real to all of us, and we all shed a tear. Wil was our friend, our brother, and our hero. Many of us have been on many a military funeral, while in the Army, many after as PGR. Wil was not any military funeral. Wil was a member of this Local, a Mason, and a Shriner. It is hard to bury a fellow soldier, it is even harder to bury one we all loved.

Are their plans as well to line the streets between the funeral home and the cemetary and block out the WBC?

Just in case you guys didn't see this

WBC Planning to picket at Wil Sabalu's funeral
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't know if you guys have ever heard of that "Westboro Baptist Church" but they're this "church" that goes to soldiers funerals and says stupid crap like "thank god for dead soldiers" and crap like that.  When I heard about Wil's death, I was very scared they would show up.  I have been checking their website, and they just added that they will indeed be picketing at his funeral.  Guys if there is ANY way you can show up at Wil's funeral to show support for the family, PLEASE DO.  If these idiots show up, the family will need some extra support.  Poor Josh and Nadia do not need to see someone cheering the death of their father, and this is what that group does.  Please please come show some support.  I'm about to cry just thinking about the horror of them being there

I didn't really know Will very well either, but my husband got to know him good.  I heard he was a wonderful guy.  I did get to know his son, however, and he is a total sweetheart.  I don't want to imagine this idiotic group causing anyone in this family any more pain, and I know they will.  I wish there was some way to stop them.

If the WBC does show (They have not shown up in Missouri in a while) then we will be prepared. They have to register with the city to conduct any type of legal protest, and all the police departments have been asked to call me immediately if they are notified of them coming.
If they do come, you are all welcome to assist us. But please, we do not confront them, we do not even notice them. We turn our backs upon them, wave our flags and shield the family and community  from them.
They want confrontation, so they can then sue the community and police for not protecting them
If they do come, and the city puts them on near your property, this might be a good day to, burn leaves, run a chain saw... or ten, water your yard and area around your yard.
I know if they do show up, I will have to do some test work on my exhaust pipes on my bike to ensure they are functioning at 4000 rpms.
DG, if you read this, and they do show, make sure there is no media coverage, that is also what they want. We need to start ignoring these people so they will go away, instead of treating them as celebrities

Taz, thanks for posting the best way to handle this situation.   I am usually calm and reasonable when dealing with issues, but this makes me furious.  Whatever can these people be thinking to want to pull this kind of stuff.  Makes a person want to get in their faces and tell them what for, which is just what they seem to want, so like you said we need to just ignore them, hard as that may be.

I am proud to have met you and your friends at Frog Fest.  You are a great group of guys.
