There was some discussion in the shout box earlier, but I've seen nothing from our local media outlets, which is disappointing to say the least...
The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt. FYI, I had the information by 11 am but was unable to upload anything due to slow connection speeds. It routinely takes 30 minutes to an hour or more to upload even one article, and the shoutbox problem made it impossible to even try. All I could have done was post a Twitter alert and I decided not to do that because KJPW had the story already.

There was some discussion in the shout box earlier, but I've seen nothing from our local media outlets, which is disappointing to say the least...

I just don't care what the reason was or is, she was an old friend, and I am sad...Heard about it early this morning and just have been sad all day about it.
I have it on good authority that the Hokey-Pokey really IS what it's all about.

How could someone just leave her there?

Responding to your question of how someone could leave a hit-and-run victim, there are several possible ways a fatal hit-and-run could have happened. Other than the obvious possibility of a drunk driver who was so out-of-it that he/she never knew he/she hit someone, I don't want to say anything more because it could harm the investigation.

Police have many techniques to match a vehicle to a crash victim. I know nothing beyond what has been published already and additional publicity to those methods could compromise a pending investigation, but having covered these things before, it's likely that the Waynesville police and state troopers already have good indicators to work with.

Let's just say that if the driver is from anywhere around here, the police are very likely to catch him/her, and do so sooner rather than later.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Rhonda.  This is so sad, and makes me so angry,  I also pray for swift justice, get this cold hearted person off the streets.

The stuff about an off-duty police office is nothing but a rumor. I have spoken with Chief Carter and there are no updates.

NOT A RUMOR ANYMORE....IT WAS AN ON DUTY POLICE OFFICER...JUSTICE IN A CIVIL SUIT FOR THE FAMILY BUT NOT JUSTICE FOR THE CRIME OR THE COVER UP!!! THIS DISGUSTS ME!! Just read about it in court documents...we need honest police officers!!  :th_police:  by reading of court documents Chief Carter was NOT the person to speak to...such an absolute shame!

You do have honest police officers. The so called court documents you read were very one sided in nature. The MSHP/DDCC investigation cleared the officer and found no damage to the patrol car. Recently one officer and the city of Waynesville were removed from the civil lawsuit by the Judge. Three officers remain in the lawsuit.
