How does that magnetic ribbon support our troops?

Its more likely you are supporting the car magnet industry.

Sort of like the flags we fly that are made in China....

A country that despises Democracy and freedom...

Despite where they are made or do they really support our troops which I think part of the money goes to a fund. It is the intent behind showing  support. Not the magnet itself.  This is not a good place to make fun of people that have those magnets  they like most of including you have love ones  or friends over there.  Donít be an ass, just let this thread die.   It still America maybe not the America of our parents, but sill America. No I don't have a magnet.

What is so sad is, we have become so dependent on imports.  What ever happened to the pride in American Made?  Look at our clothing, the majority is made outside of the U.S!  We really do need to become self sufficient, produce our own and not rely so much on imports!  Has anyone checked out our food supply?  So much of our produce, and canned goods are grown/produced outside of the U.S.

Who's making fun?

I'm just trying to make a point that a lot of people are blind to evil.

Sorry, I'm not going to remain blind to this kind of crap just to appease the sentiments of those who slap those things on their cars.

I'm not saying they're being unpatriotic... I'm just saying where these things come from and questioning the integrity of the companies that make them.

I won't let this thread die.  This thread can branch off into a lot of other places that can help address a lot of the problems we have in this country dealing with, as Kari noted, our imports and how "Made in America" is becoming less and less commonplace on our goods.

Its a really interesting video.  Those magnets don't help anyone but the companies that keep making them.  Its like one of the soldiers in the video summarized... if you wanna help us, care packages really make our day!

Stop feeding your money to those companies making a profit off of a tragedy.

Its sort of like the whole September 11 thing... how many people got rich because of that tragedy?  All of the vendors selling American themed merchandise...  You cannot tell me that they ALL gave something back via donation...

I don't think you should be able to make a profit from the image of the American Flag... It should be public domain but illegal to generate profit from its use.

Its just a bunch of corporate pirates preying on people's emotions.  I think its wrong.

So... don't get all stressed out because you think I'm attacking someone.

There is a bigger picture to this than your feelings.  I'm just trying to educate a little.

I think the only thing on my desk right now that was made in America was... well... nevermind.  I don't have any pencils here right now.  Even those I fear lately seem to bear a CHINA stamp on them though...

It still America maybe not the America of our parents, but sill America. you guys are missing the point. Dn Has pointed out to us that people who either have been enemies or are enemies are making our patriotic swag. If we buy this shit we are supporting other countries economies while we post this crap to show our patriotism. Kinda like buying an american flag from an Afganastan citizen to feed thier dad who is a militant who bombed our soldiers this Morning. Common sense has to regress a little I know for you guys to see what hes saying, but he right. buying this crap from foriegners is retarded if it isnt made here in the good ol USA

Yesterday, at Walmart (ugh, the biggest importer around), a Gentleman had merchandise to offer, for a donation, to support one of the Veterans programs.  Every one of the things offered was made in China.  Did I "buy" one, yes, and added money to it for the donation, but I did point out to him that the items he had, was not "American made".

A couple (maybe three) years ago when GM was having difficulties, I wanted to show my support for an American Company, so I bought quite a bit of stock in them.  I honestly felt that if enough people invested, showed their support, GM would pull through.... well, I lost over .50 on each dollar I invested, as they went bankrupt.  It seems not enough other people had the same faith I did?  Now, GM is building in Mexico and filed plans to offer stock (not the same stock)!

Veterans associations are not affiliated with the VA, though they have to be recognized by the VA for claim representation.  The VAF was organized Jan. 25, 1994 and their web site with information can be found at http://www.veteransassistance.org/

We are doing just fine here I can tell in Pulaski county. Worry about a $3.00 magnet supporting our troops tops some folks list of even minor concerns. If not tops it is enough to cause a concern? Just leave dumb shit alone. I did not but mine with a terrorist supporting country's name on it that I know of . Is your car made in the USA and not somewhere they send funds overseas? We are getting a little crazy here. Dn I wonder where the last bible you bought was printed from? Sarcastic isn't it.

Don't like this topic?

I am certain there are hundreds of others you can participate in on Pulaski County Web.

I don't think we are getting "crazy."  Its a pretty valid concern I think... the future of American industry.  The smaller items of day to day life add up to some really bigger concerns eventually...

Are you flipping kidding me? So the guy points out that a largely patriotic sticker/magnet are largely made in freedom hating, human rights abusing, China and it's HE who is wrong?

Is your love for the country so flipping shallow and unfulfilled that that bothers you instead of demanding a US made product? If you can't at least grasp the almost comical hypocrisy then you'd be golden.

A $3.00 magnet.  Made in China for .15 or maybe .25   So someone in America is making  a $2.75 profit.  Money which is probably getting spent in the USA except for the .25 needed to buy more magnets. ( 75 to 85+ % profit margin)

How would that work if it was made in the USA.   Cost to make  $3 to $5 ?    then how much would cost to buy the same ?  $7 ?   maybe $9 ? ( 40 to 60% margin if your lucky)

How many would be bought at that price? Not near as many.. Will the person make the same profit?  No  I doubt it.  Truth be told there is probably  more money being made and spent in the USA off of the cheaper chinese made magnet then there would be from the same magnet made and sold in the USA.
Sad that it is that way and i dont have facts to back it up, but i bet i am not that far off in assuming as much

Just google and find a American maker for your flags or mag signs. I wonder how many folks look at each item they buy to see where it was made. Get your flags here. http://www.united-states-flag.com/info.html
The link is for you dn. China is not the only maker of US flags.

Pete, you would be surprised at how many of us DO look.  Unfortunately, I have not been able to find many American made products anymore.  Some things are "assembled" in the U.S, using parts made elsewhere.  Some items have American made parts, assembled elsewhere.  We have become way too dependent on imports.

Read the link I posted.  ALL OF IT.

I guess exploiting another human so that our country can save a few bucks is ok?

Apparently Patriotism has gone to hell , to have Americans Not only NOT pissed off that there American Pride and Joy is manufactured In A foriegn Land, but so is the other swag we use to portray our American Spirit. Not Only That, you attack the guy who points it out so we can be better educated and make the choice to not buy Patriotism from China or any other country who Dont share our Vision of Freedom Bought by Patriots with Blood. Im Ashamed to be In a Discussion with those of you who Disagree With our Flags Bieng made in China And Flown here. We Should Instead Demand of our countries Leaders Inact a law that requires at the very least Our Flag be Made only in the united States.

I worked with a few others to pass a law about 3 years ago that mandates in MO that all flages (American, Missouri, POW, etc...) flown on state property be made in the U.S.

What someone puts on their private property is up to them.  It is impossible to stop another country from making whatever flags they want to, and as long as there is an internet, they can be ordered and shipped here.

We did enact legislation for state property however.

Just an FYI...
