  • nursejdavis: I am looking for a few Press Releases from Kevin Hillman that have disappeared.... not sure why they would be hidden from the public unless they contain narcs who have gotten their charges dropped for their cooperation. Seems the same Press Releases were also deleted from Facebook. Thanks for any help in locating these

  • Valor7: Actually no it is not, a dependable Revenue stream will not come on line until the 4th quarter of 2017 so 2018 budget will be up in the air, not quite sure what they will have. By 2019 budget all will be well.

  • Valor7: I could have worded that better, we talked details, options, the pros and cons of each, in  order to arrive at the best ballot language to present to the voters. Hope that makes this clearer.

  • Valor7: Yes and no. We talked details and options until we were blue in the face but I never heardbring it over, it was always the time was not right for the issue to pass. Glad to see the time in now right and I for one shall vote yes on the ballot. I would urge all others to do the sameour county is busting at the seams crimewise and no matter how many bad guys we send off there always seems to someone to replace them. The Sheriff's Office needs the help.

  • Lepard LLC: Gene Newkirk Rick I have waited for a Sheriff to bring it to me on what he wanted. I have pushed Mr long for a while to get it to me. He told me he was close to having or done. Now hopefully the people will get to decide on it. I spoke with Steve about this a few times.

As JB said, they are not intended for local folks, MODOT wanted to keep something for truck drivers when they took down the structures that were at the Rest Stops before.

This actually didn't cost taxpayers, it saves money.  The structures that were there cost a lot of tax money to keep up because of their age and they didn't get that much use anyway.  When they were built years ago, there were not nearly as many quick shops, etc... as there are today.  Now folks prefer to stop where they can buy a drink, get gas, etc...  MODOT did build a couple of Rest Stops/Welcome Centers that have different facilities at them, but they closed numerous ones like the one near Rolla leaving only the facilities there now intended for truck drivers.

Just wanted to mention that it isn't something that was an expense to taxpayers, it is a money saving move that allows more money for transpotation projects.

I would like to say, yes I know there are many location's that need looked after, on some sort of change on the road's, and how they were designed, and set up, not the up keep, if they have pot hole's, and such, but the design of the way they are made, and the dip's are something that if at all, were lowered to where there were more visibility, between each of them, maybe man would of not been so ignorante to made such a bad mistake on their behalf to of made such a foolish mistake if he had more visibility, because I do see, and understand that has been most of fault of the accident's that have occurred their, were by us not that they are not maintained........ and as far as 28 by the bridge, yes it is very unsafe as well, due to the design of the road, I am a survivor of that as well, I know that I am very fortunate to be here, knowing I flew airborne, and went down that cliff, if a guard rail/cable might of helped me, along many others, some not as fortunate as I was, but how long has that request been up for discussion, like the dips have. I would also like an answer of, how many fatality have to occur before there will be something done. the other question I have what is their next major project they are waiting to have done, and based off what reason are they getting help for that project, are  their alot of accident's because man has no visibility, or because it's a sight that is falling apart, or because some official lives down that road !!!!!!!!

The rest area has been re-done twice within the past few years that i can remember off the top of my head.  Their are gas stations, with food n snack, within a few miles on either side of it.  The truck drivers are the ones who mainly pull in there to sleep.  The out of state travelers generally stop at the stations, where all of their needs can be met at one convienent stop.
