News Release
Felony Arrests
Pulaski County Sheriff J. B. King
Feb 27, 2011

On Feb. 26, 2011, Pulaski County deputies were sent to the Buckhorn area to search for an armed and intoxicated suspect who had made threats to kill another person. At approximately 1:30pm the employees of the Buckhorn Meat and Grocery Store reported that one of their employees had come into the store in possession of a firearm and stated he was going to kill a specific individual. But first he had to go get a bigger gun.

The suspect got into a Gold trailblazer and drove off. While deputies searched the area for the suspect another deputy went to his residence ands was in the process of interviewing the suspectís wife when the suspect drove into his driveway and almost hit her patrol car.

The lone deputy approached the suspect and told him he was under arrest for driving while intoxicated. As the deputy attempted to handcuff the suspect a brief struggle occurred before he was handcuffed. An attempt was made to have the suspect take a chemical test to determine his level of intoxication. The suspect refused the test. The suspect was then taken to the Pulaski County jail where he kicked another deputy as they were removing him from the patrol car.

A statement of probable cause was sent to the Pulaski County Prosecutor requesting the following charges;

1. Driving While Intoxicated felony, chronic offender, (seven prior convictions.)
2. Driving While Revoked felony charge.
3. Unlawful use of a weapon, felony charge
4. Armed criminal action, felony charge
5. Resisting arrest for felony charge, felony charge.
6. Assault on law enforcement officer third degree, misdemeanor charge.

The on call prosecutor filed one count of unlawful use of a weapon, a class D felony, one count of driving while intoxicated chronic offender, a class B felony, and one count of resisting arrest for a felony, a class D felony, on Hollis Wayne Grisham, age 64, of 27150 Highway AA, Laquey, Missouri. Grisham remains in the Pulaski County jail pending the posting of a $100,000 cash only bond.

Additional charges are possible in this case after a more through review of the facts of the case within the next few days.

So are you saying that handcuffs will stop an Officer from being assaulted?

Tell that to a Paramedic friend of mine! She was assaulted by a drunk in cuffs,  four years and three reconstructive surgeries later she can eat real food and looks normal again.

Handcuffs don't process some magic power that renders a suspect helpless as soon as the applied. Wonder Woman's golden lasso yes, handcuffs no.

Too bad she wasn't armed.

Please DO NOT tell that to Capt. Bill Anderson who was kicked near the groin by this handcuffed suspect.

If someone so much as spits on a law enforcement officer I believe that is considered assault.
