News Release
Assist Federal Bureau of Prisons
Pulaski County Sheriff J. B. King
April 19, 2011

At 7:00am on April 18, 2011, the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office was notified that a United States Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) transport bus had broken down and was on the shoulder of I-44 eastbound at the 153MM in Pulaski County.

All available deputies responded to the scene and found that the bus was loaded with 40 maximum security inmates being transferred from a federal prison in Oklahoma to a federal prison in Indiana. The bus had a three man crew.

The deputies stayed on scene as a guard detail until a replacement transport bus arrived from the Federal Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri. The deputies then assisted with the transfer of the inmates to the new bus. The entire event was handled without incident. The deputies finished the call at approximately 9:40am and returned to duty status.
