I  just noticed today that they have torn down the old Snake Hill Tavern and the for sale sign is gone.  Does anybody know who bought it and what they are going to do with it?

The old snake hill tavern was up by Arbys. It burnt down years ago and now is a tat shop. Must be another one you are talking about. Did they have the egg cartons on the ceiling too?

The Drennon family built snake hill in the late 40's out of ammo boxes (wooden) and egg crate seperators.
Delphia Franklin bought in the 50's and ran it in its Hay day.
It was my Dads first stop when we moved to Missouri and was his favorite watering hole from then on.Dell and My father were very close friends... very close friends so close that she was really shaken at his funeral.
I only have fond memories of Snake Hill even though I have seen it ruin many a family. :crying:   :crying:

Wasn't Rocky Top Bar up in that area between Arby's, and what was once the Dodge Dealership?

I believe so.
Was it the bar started by the Drennon family after they sold Snake Tavern to Dell?

I remember my dad taking me and my brother to Snake hill,  he would get him a beer or two and we would have a soda, and we would soak up the atmosphere, we thought it was the best place in the world at the time

Got my bars mixed up.  Yes it was Rocky Top.  I was thinking that was called Snake Hill.  The for sale sign is not there anymore.  Did someone buy it and what are they going to do there?

I bought my last car at M&S motors just a little bit before it was sold to the new Dodge dealer.  What was the last name of the family that owned the Dodge dealership before.  All I can remember is, he had a son named Travis, a daughter who went to law school, I think her name was Christy, and his wife's father used to own the first house on Plattner that was torn down when they built the BP station.   Seems like if I remember all that I should be able to remember his last name.  I think he also owned a car lot on the end of Plattner.  Shoot I can't think of his name either.  I hate getting old.  Never mind, I just thought of their name, Tom Boeher.  Maybe not spelled right.  Think the wife's name is Madge.  OK Maynard time for you to tell me what her dad's name was and what was the business he operated at the end of Plattner.

Was the Name Harrison?  I know Merlin Shelton was the Manager of M&S Motors at one time.

Harrison doesn't sound right, but I'll take your word for it.  He may have been a manager but I know Tom Boeher owned the dealership.  I remember when her father died I was working for Tyce Smith and he was handling all the legal business for the family.  Harrison just doesn't ring a bell.

Harrison family owns Mid Missouri Motors on Rt 66.
Talked with Jimmy Drennon, and they sold the property to a bank. Not sure if that is what they are building there. One of the requirments thay had to do for the sale was remove the building, which they did, but not before they removed the original bar and moving it to a friend of ours basement, so Rocky Top lives on.
