News Release
Arrest Drug Possession and Firearm Offense
Pulaski County Sheriff J. B. King
April 20, 2012

During the early morning hours of April 19, 2012, a Pulaski County deputy responded to an address of 16225 Buffalo Road, Crocker, Missouri, for a report of an intoxicated subject who was trespassing and creating a disturbance. A suspect was located on the property and taken into custody for trespassing. He was taken to the Pulaski County Jail where he was booked on the charge and then released since it was a misdemeanor.

Less than one hour later the sheriff’s office was notified that the suspect was back on the property. This time he was found near a vehicle. Since actual notice had been given that he was not to be on the property the suspect was immediately arrested for trespassing in the first degree. The suspect was intoxicated and the deputies observed that the door on his van was open and they observed a flack jacket, a loaded .12ga shotgun and a cooler of beer in his van in plain sight.

One deputy did a walk around the residence and found another cooler that contained drug paraphernalia and crystal methamphetamine. The cooler had the suspects name spelled out in tape on the cooler. Following a notification of his Miranda rights the suspect admitted the cooler was his.

The suspect was again taken to the Pulaski County and booked. This time he was held on a felony 24-hour hold while a statement of probable cause was sent to the Pulaski County Prosecutor requesting charges for this incident.

The prosecutor filed one count of possession of a controlled substance, a class C felony, and one count of unlawful use of a firearm, a class D felony, on Charles T. Sharnas, age 53, of 16251 Buffalo Road, Crocker, Missouri. The bond on Sharnas was set at $50,000 and he remains in the Pulaski County Jail pending the posting of bond.
