No edward, he should not have.  Once it appears he may win the general election, a candidate should spend time preparing for the job, balancing that duty with actually winning the election.  Like everyone, Mr. Long needs to earn a living and get elected.  Rider outs seem like they are a good thing, but sitting in and watching JB do his job would probably be just as good.  Mr. Long has a lot of experience and does not need to know how to be a policeman, he needs to learn the department and doing too much too soon is not only a useless waste of time, but can come across as arrogant.

Mr. Long, I will vote for you and I am telling everyone I know to vote for you.

Good luck.

I think Bill Anderson got his heart broken a couple weeks ago, when he showed up to a local organization (most likely to campaign) and he wasn't give the opportunity to do so due to the organization having a rule that no political speeches would be made on their property.

I previously asked a lot of questions about this race and have made my mind up to vote for Ron Long, but I have been hearing a lot of rumors (read things on facebook, heard people talking) that Mr. Anderson is under investigation for having a stolen gun.  Can anyone tell me if that is true?  I hate to pass along rumors and merely am asking if that is true.  If it is, the voters should know.  If it is not, it is not fair that the rumor is out there.

There is only one person who can confirm the investigation, the Sheriff.

The problem Pulaski County Missouri has is some of Republican Party! Some Republicans are Ignorant!  Pulaski County has been a Democratic County for years. Only J.B. King and Sonny Carter ever won the Sheriffs election on the Republican side in the last 50 + years! And it was as close as Gore and Bush presidential elections on a much smaller scale. So all you so call Republicans RICH folks in Pulaski County that think Mr. Long will win the election are fools. The Democratic Party all-ways supports the poor and the working class in the Country! Wake up Pulaski County; Republicans our out for them SELVES and the rich? Now the million dollar queston is?  Pulaski County, do we have more rich or poor people in the County? We all know that answer. Rember Mr.Long we know about how you left both Waynesville and St.Robert Police Dept. Also turned down a job with P.C.S.D. Why?  Also left with some one other than your self? Come back to the County and act like all is forgotton? The County needs a leader and not a yes man like Long in the Sheriffs Dept. Not some one that writes a novel? Also Has no idea about our military! Better yet run a budget? Remember Pulaski County Democratic party lets all show up at the polls and take our County back! GO vote on November 6 2012,

Good Luck Bill Andeson, hope you win Big!

From what I have seen and read, all of those departments have a large turnover, I wonder how many left for lower paying jobs? Are you saying because he has published novels that he is disqualified to be Sheriff? Rich or poor the Sheriff is required to enforce the law equally, I'm not sure what your trying to imply.

Mr. Bulldog -- have you ever thought that it may not be the party that people are voting for but the person.  A lot of people are fed up with the parties - on the local, state, and federal levels alike.

probably a few dems voted for jb!  I don't think party affiliation matters much for sherrif. the record is what matters more I think. military experience is fine, but not necessarilly a resume enhancer. we have a pair running out here in texas county with a lot of experience.

Should Anderson get elected can he just end the investigation into the stolen gun? Or does some other agency handle something like that?

We all know that a elected sheriff can do just about anything he/she wants. Just look at JB. He wanted newer cars, better equipment, the best available training for his officers and did it! Now they even got vidio in most cars to protect the law breakers. Sounds like a new book to me. LOL

Yes Pete but that took a lot of planning, hard work , and just plain old begging to the CLERF board, and a few other things. It was not easy.

I always wonder why government officials like the sheriff, DA, and judges run under the banner of a political party. It seems to me like apolitical positions in which the main purpose is to serve and protect without political agendas.

I here a lot and this is the first I have heard about the stolen Gun Anderson is being investigated for.  Where did this come from?  I knew he screwed Deputy Pearson pretty good and even pulled some stuff out of the prosecutors file to keep a friend from being charged aledgedly, But man, that is bad!

Mainly because that is the current law. You have to run to get the position and you have to state a party in the attempt.

I believe the Highway Patrol is investigating the stolen gun, not sure if the Sheriff can stop an investigation once it starts.
