  • nursejdavis: I am looking for a few Press Releases from Kevin Hillman that have disappeared.... not sure why they would be hidden from the public unless they contain narcs who have gotten their charges dropped for their cooperation. Seems the same Press Releases were also deleted from Facebook. Thanks for any help in locating these

  • Valor7: I could have worded that better, we talked details, options, the pros and cons of each, in  order to arrive at the best ballot language to present to the voters. Hope that makes this clearer.

  • Valor7: Yes and no. We talked details and options until we were blue in the face but I never heardbring it over, it was always the time was not right for the issue to pass. Glad to see the time in now right and I for one shall vote yes on the ballot. I would urge all others to do the sameour county is busting at the seams crimewise and no matter how many bad guys we send off there always seems to someone to replace them. The Sheriff's Office needs the help.

WASHINGTON (AP) - After promising unprecedented openness regarding Congress' pork barrel practices, House Democrats are moving in the opposite direction as they draw up spending bills for the upcoming budget year.

Democrats are sidestepping rules approved their first day in power in January to clearly identify "earmarks" - lawmakers' requests for specific projects and contracts for their states.

Rather than including specific pet projects, grants and contracts in legislation as it is being written, Democrats are following an order by the House Appropriations Committee chairman to keep the bills free of such earmarks until it is too late for critics to effectively challenge them.

Rep. David Obey, D-Wis., says those requests for dams, community grants and research contracts for favored universities or hospitals will be added to spending measures in the fall. That is when House and Senate negotiators assemble final bills.

Such requests total billions of dollars.

As a result, most lawmakers will not get a chance to oppose specific projects as wasteful or questionable when the spending bills for various agencies get their first votes in the full House in June.

The House-Senate compromise bills due for final action in September cannot be amended and are subject to only one hour of debate, precluding challenges to individual projects.

Obey insists he is reluctantly taking the step because Appropriations Committee members and staff have not had enough time to fully review the 36,000 earmark requests that have flooded the committee.

What Obey is doing runs counter to new rules that Democrats promised would make such spending decisions more open.

Our federal debt is $9 TRILLION DOLLARS! China owns $400 billion dollars of our debt and still has $1 trillion dollars, cash, in the bank. Does anyone see anything disturbing about this?

For years, politicians from the Democrat, Republican, and Independent parties have for a long, long time placed us in such a spot when they buy votes. Yes, they reach out to selected groups of citizens and promise them goodies. It is hard-working farmers, seniors, etc. It is illegal aliens or whatever. Notice the Emergency Spending Bill they just porked up in the House and Senate?

Here is how it works, earmarks and most of our politicians do it, and taxpayers are being bought off with their own tax money and are just plain stupid for allowing it. Look at Ike Skelton and where did he get the money to build a post office in SR? He gets it from the government (Us the taxpayer). You will keep voting him back into office since you got your piece of the pie. Now pay the damn $9 trillion dollar debt and shut up. He votes for their pet projects and they vote for his and you keep voting him in office. It is just the same as mommy and daddy buying everything for junior he wants then gets their family in debt. It feels good while the money is being spent but when you must pay off the debts it is tough.
