  • Valor7: Actually no it is not, a dependable Revenue stream will not come on line until the 4th quarter of 2017 so 2018 budget will be up in the air, not quite sure what they will have. By 2019 budget all will be well.

  • Valor7: I could have worded that better, we talked details, options, the pros and cons of each, in  order to arrive at the best ballot language to present to the voters. Hope that makes this clearer.

  • Valor7: Yes and no. We talked details and options until we were blue in the face but I never heardbring it over, it was always the time was not right for the issue to pass. Glad to see the time in now right and I for one shall vote yes on the ballot. I would urge all others to do the sameour county is busting at the seams crimewise and no matter how many bad guys we send off there always seems to someone to replace them. The Sheriff's Office needs the help.

“The Sheriff’s View” (#36)

I would like to begin this week’s article by expressing my gratitude to our law enforcement brothers and sisters in Florida and Texas for reaching out to Pulaski County public service officials who suffered major losses to their homes and vehicles during the flooding last month. These long distance friends, along with a bank in Waynesville, donated monies specifically to first responders who unselfishly served their community during the floods despite experiencing major damage to their own property.

It is a well known fact among the law enforcement, EMS and fire services that we are all a world-wide fraternity, which has no boundaries when it comes to helping out a fellow brethren. This is just one of many examples reflecting how individuals in the public service arena come to each other’s aid. So, thank you Lieutenant L.J. in Florida, for initiating this donation drive, along with the other donors for their support and gracious contributions.

This week, the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department will be hosting the quarterly meeting of our regional drug enforcement units. These meetings are attended by state, local and county law enforcement officials, at which time we discuss the progress of past drug enforcement endeavors, along with future ones. As you have been seeing, and will continue to, drug enforcement operations are in full-force here in Pulaski County. In my news letter next week I will convey some statistical data regarding these endeavors that you should find very interesting!

Last Friday afternoon I hit the “send” button on my computer, transmitting another grant request to the State for equipment. If this request is approved, your Sheriff’s Department will receive enough money to purchase five additional trunked system mobile radios. These radios will be compatible to the new Missouri MOSWIN statewide communications system I spoke of last week. When we include the two radios recently granted to the PCSD, receiving this grant would put us one-third of the way to having all sheriff department vehicles, along with PCSD Dispatch and Emergency Operations Center, equipped with these modern and much needed radios.

Your Sheriff’s office has been invited to participate in the Missouri Constitution Days project, which kicks off this Tuesday in Pulaski County. Constitution Days is a nationwide learning event for high school students, which is being coordinated in this area by Judge Rhonda Cortesini. During Constitution Days, a selected group of high school students will receive a hands-on lesson about our legal system and how the United States Constitution affects their lives on a daily basis. The entire event is multifaceted, and takes several months to complete. Throughout this process, the students will be assigned to law enforcement officials, local media, attorneys, judges and other professionals to help them experience and better understand our legal system. You will be able to keep track of the Pulaski County Constitution Days project through several of our media sources.

This weekend your Pulaski County Sheriff’s department will have a tent/booth at the Cow Day’s Festival in Dixon, so please stop by and visit us.

This concludes another week’s summary as your Pulaski County sheriff, and I hope to see you here again next week. For more information about the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department and other related items of interest, please visit our Web-site at (, or on Facebook.
