  • Valor7: What I tried to say is that the actual money would not be there that quick. But a loan against that would work if they are willing to do that.

  • Lepard LLC: Why so long before it comes online? 911 took out a loan or bond with the known guarantee payment and began building..

  • Valor7: Actually no it is not, a dependable Revenue stream will not come on line until the 4th quarter of 2017 so 2018 budget will be up in the air, not quite sure what they will have. By 2019 budget all will be well.

  • Valor7: You mean that tax that the Commissioners would not put on the ballot for so many years? Strange things happened when the citizens got a chance to vote on that issue.

  • Valor7: I could have worded that better, we talked details, options, the pros and cons of each, in  order to arrive at the best ballot language to present to the voters. Hope that makes this clearer.

  • Valor7: Yes and no. We talked details and options until we were blue in the face but I never heardbring it over, it was always the time was not right for the issue to pass. Glad to see the time in now right and I for one shall vote yes on the ballot. I would urge all others to do the sameour county is busting at the seams crimewise and no matter how many bad guys we send off there always seems to someone to replace them. The Sheriff's Office needs the help.

  • Lepard LLC: Gene Newkirk Rick I have waited for a Sheriff to bring it to me on what he wanted. I have pushed Mr long for a while to get it to me. He told me he was close to having or done. Now hopefully the people will get to decide on it. I spoke with Steve about this a few times.

The Kids Say it Best!
In just a few weeks the gavel will fall and start another session in the Missouri Legislature.  When session starts it will also be the return of a more regular article from me, of course talking about the serious issues we face in Missouri and what we are trying to do about them.  However, I thought this might be a good time to lighten things up just a little before that time comes. While working in the office this week I ran across a paper that I had forgotten about having.  It is full of one-liners that were taken from elementary school essays on politics in the U.S.  I wish I could give credit to the person that put this together but I donít have that information.  I think you will enjoy these.  Here we go with some of the best onesÖ.
  • It is possible to get the majority of electoral votes without getting the majority of popular votes.  Anyone who can ever understand how this works gets to be president.
  • The president has the power to appoint and disappoint the members of his cabinet.
  • The campaign is when the candidate tells what he stands for and the election is when the votes tell if they can stand for his being elected.
  • Some of our presidents never did much else and are famous only because they became president.
  • In January, the president makes his Inaugural Address after he has been sworn at.
  • The nominees are usually called candidates or campaigners although I have heard them called other things.
  • A split ticket is when you donít like any of them on the ticket so you tear it up.
  • When they talk about the most promising presidential candidate, they mean the one who can think of the most things to promise.
  • Political strategy is when you donít let people know you have run out of ideas and keep shouting anyway.
  • We are learning how to make our election results known quicker and quicker.  It is our campaigns we are having trouble getting any shorter.
  • Campaigns give us a great deal of happiness by their finally ending.
I hope you enjoyed some of these as much as I did.  I will be getting back to the serious issues at hand in just a few weeks as we prepare to return to session.  I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and the most prosperous New Year ever. Please let me know if there is anything I can do.  My office number is (573) 751-1446, my e-mail is david.day@house.mo.gov and you can also contact me through my website at www.repdavidday.com.
